I hope this is not a dumb question but if surgery doesn’t work or any treatments don’t work, is it possible to cut the nerve and get rid of it? Would the pain be gone? But lose sensation?
Hi Rodney. Cutting the TN is an absolute last resort, in desperate circumstances. It has some consequences which need to be considered very carefully before performing this.
Dr Jaydev Panchwagh I do know someone that has this as well and nothing work not even MVD and I asked her if they can get rid of the nerve and she said yes but she we’ll have a numb face with no feeling, but the pain might be gone
@@rodneyramirez7549 yes, what she says is true. But corneal sensation in the eye would go away, so also facial sensation, and when one chews food, its possible to have the inside of the cheek caught between your teeth.
I was told and also see in your surgery, that the Teflon Pad is like a cotton ball formed with your fingers. Couldn't you have preformed Teflon Pads that are more "U" shaped where you can fit it around the nerve to help prevent future contact. To have preformed pads of various shapes and sizes so that it has a more rigid configuration. They could be manufactured to have different textures on each side of the pad and different lengths to accommodate the individual.
We work in such a narrow space, that some simple things become more difficult. Your idea is not new, it has been done before, and we still do it in certain cases. There are finer nuances to all of this than just inserting a Teflon pad. The microscope magnifies all structures so much that many things appear possible, but are in actuality more difficult to perform!
Can you have the surgery if they don't see the nerve impingement? I have tgn from having head surgery and it has gotten so much worse than it was before but will you always have this impingement or can the surgery still be this helpful
My mother is suffering from TGN from 4yrs she is using XENOXA 300 till date. She is normal for few days without pain by using those tablets but this month it's been severe to her.
