    Hey, thanks man. I have been wanting to try this for a couple of years now, but life kept happening. Now, my two boys are in college but I still didn't have the money for a rig. Well, since I am well-known for my boat bottom painting skills, I traded a paint job for a used Mistral that looks brand new. I gave it to myself for my sixtieth birthday. Tomorrow, I am going to the boat ramp where there is a little beach and try it out. I have watched a ton of these videos and you certainly have the personality I was looking for in addition to some very good presenting. I am like the other guy, a little embarrassed, but I taught myself to rollerblade when I was forty. Maybe this sport will be a little less bloody. Anyway, I am going to watch each video as my skill improves. It may take me awhile, but I never quit. Thanks so much again.

      Hey Leo,
      I am glad you like the videos and I hope they help you on your windsurf journey! It is a hard sport and takes time but it is definitely worth it... and yes, less bloody than rollerblading!
      Like I have mentioned there is no need to be embarrassed! This is the only way to do it and failing is part of the process... Just stick to it, keep trying and overall have fun in the water!
      Enjoy and good luck!

    I really want to practice this more but it gets tiring and embarrassing dragging my rental board in circles on a crowded beach 😅

      Dont feel embarrassed! Any windsurfer knows the feeling and understands the process... they will not make fun of you! We have all been through it!
      As for the non-windsurfers, just think of how they will be watching in awe when you are finally ripping! ;)
      Good luck and keep having fun!

    Thank you so much for your videos, now I understand the theory perfectly, and after 2 sessions of 3h each, I have a percentage rate of success of 80% on the left foot. But the other foot, I can't train often, as the wind always come from the same direction, so I have to directly try waterstart for this side (not easy). Anyway, your videos helped a lot! Please continue posting educational videos, your explanations are really clear :D

      Thank you for your kind words! Keep trying and dont worry! That is also how I learnt and how most people learn.. with a little more practice, soon both side will be super easy for you! :)

    Does the wind have to be under the sail to lift the body out of the water?

    • @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind
      @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind  4 года назад +1

      Yes, you have to have wind in your sail! Although for the beach start the wind you need is really not much you still need to have some :)

    • @vascocostaantunes6826
      @vascocostaantunes6826 4 года назад

      But is that wind under the sail that elevates the windsurfer?

    • @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind
      @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind  4 года назад +1

      @@vascocostaantunes6826 Partly yes but the windsurfer has to make a step up also. Thats why I said you dont need much wind. As long as the sail is pulling a little and assisting you slightly the rest can be done by you stepping onto the board (as if going up a large step) and pulling downwards on the boom to put the pressure on the mastfoot.

    Does the video board have a fin?

    • @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind
      @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind  4 года назад +1

      When I use the board on the beach as a simulator always remove the fin. Even on sandy beaches...
      In the water however, of course I have a fin :)
