2 simple things to do at the dock. One, tie off using the mid cleat. It just makes everything so much easier. And two, always put out fenders on the opposite side of your boat from where you tied to the dock. It can help protect you from the idiot trying to dock next to you.
Something I’ve never understood. When backing up any trailer. If you are starting to jackknife. Most people don’t move forward to straighten their vehicle and trailer. Always remember, using the bottom of your vehicle’s steering wheel. Which ever way you turn the bottom of your vehicle’s steering wheel. Is the direction the trailer will go. My brother in law of 50 years. Still can’t figure out how to back a trailer up. When we go camping,he waits until I show up. So I can back his camper into his spot. I’m no expert at backing up a camper/trailer. I just take my time. If I start going in the wrong direction with the Camper/trailer. I pull forward to straighten my vehicle and trailer. Then slowly back up again. Another thing once your Camper/Trailer starts turning when backing up. Straighten your vehicle’s steering wheel so the tires are aligned forward. I discovered this many, many years ago. I can generally back my Camper/Trailer into the spot on the first attempt. There are times it takes me a few tries before I get my Camper/Trailer. Exactly where my wife wants it. I’ll write it again. I’m by no means an expert at backing up a Camper/Trailer. Go slow and remember when backing up. The direction you turn the bottom of your vehicle’s steering wheel is the direction the Camper/trailer. Semi truck trailers are much easier to back up. The shorter the Camper/Trailer the harder it is to back them up. Just a slight movement of your vehicle’s steering wheel. Will make a drastic difference in the direction your Camper/Trailer goes. Be safe and have fun.
OR Put your hand at the top of the wheel and when you see the trailer is going off to one side or the other move your hand to that side. Either works, I prefer top of wheel. AND here’s a trick When backing a trailer you can’t see until it’s too late, or just backing a trailer that gets out of wack fast because of the geometry….. get it straight by pulling forward. Then back while alternating the wheel a bit to the right and a bit to the left. 8-15 degrees either side of straight. The trailer will “wiggle” it’s way back. Once it get to a point that’s too fr, pull forward JUST until it’s straight and repeat the process. BUT It’s far better to just obtain the correct skill set.
Boating is a life or death activity. I’ll never understand people who just wake up and decide they are qualified to captain a boat. No training, not a thought or drop of common sense in their head.
It's a difficult skill to master, docking parallel on the down wind side. Takes practice. Works much better if you're actually approaching from the down wind side instead of upwind. You need to come in faster than feels comfortable, almost trying to nudge the dock with your bow as you turn away from it, neutral and a hard cut to the opposite direction and reverse to swing the bow out and the stern in. Someone had better be ready with lines before attempting this maneuver. Otherwise you'll end up on RUclips!
Aren’t any of you people that are this bad at boating/trailering and life in general ever embarrassed? If it were me, I’d be so ashamed that I couldn’t back up a trailer. Boggles the mind for sure.
@@001razz I mean you made it a point to let them know. Why would you do that if you are not butt hurt or maybe just a narcissist looking for some kind of attention. Either way I’m intentionally giving you attention.
Dude at the beginning its a dope real man, guy bonked his boat then helped him . Need more boaters like this.
It's amazing how they fight the wind....with on open dock to the left.
Lady at end did a beautiful job. Well done🤙
She made a nice job powering up the trailer, she's done that before.

hit the boat, we throwing hands
And the award for best use of a boat hook by an inexperienced and unprepared crew goes to... 😂
I've been subscribed to this channel since Before it was cool.
The first boat: 4 fully grown men, and not one of them knows anything about docking. Sounds about right.
Wow unbelievable to fly around the dock like that especially when the owner of the boat you are about to hit is sitting right there.
Real men of genius lol

0:22 Amazing how much the American Flag proudly waving in the breeze could have helped this guy. Complete wrong approach angle. X2
It takes a village. ;-)
Dock into the wind. People think a boat is like driving a car.
Is there a good reason why boaters don't just leave lines attached to all of the cleats?

Same thing with class a and b and motor homes
They aren’t captains. They are AIMers
As long as that long ski trailer was he shouldn’t have had any issue backing it.
Plain and simple IGNORANCE
Power loaders have screwed up our local boat launch....

Nimrods
Why does no one ever have their dock lines ready to go? lmao
hahaha
I wonder, don't Americans have to get a boating license? Without peaktic testing 🧐

You forgot your helmet, too. You're not supposed to walk outside without it.
