Tutorial is great and well explained, but I feel that showing a quick preview of what each setting does or how it affects the final product would be great in teaching beginners the fundamentals instead of just showing them the steps.

I just got done watching your "How Far Does a Mouse Cursor Travel?" video and found out that you're from Bosnia. I didn't know that until now, it's awesome to see someone from my homeland be this successful. Keep it up the good work, you're doing great.

This is fantastic. It's just a little different with the new menus in GIMP 2.10.6, but this still helped a bunch. Thanx!

This is still a great tutorial - it just requires some experimenting with options, filters, tools, etc..with the latest version of Gimp. I was able to pull this off and very pleased with my results.

This is one of the techniques I am anxious to learn to do, however It's not working in Gimp version 2.10.2. I followed the steps multiple times and the image will not distort.
I have the images in the correct order with the top on desaturated and the bottom one normal and the mask in between. I then used a blur on the top image. I set the all the layers to image size. I applied the blur but it does nothing. The image i'm using has plenty of contrast so It should work according to your video. Is there something I may be doing wrong or does this method not work in 2.10.2?

yeah, I'm using 2.10.12 and it went wrong when I got to the 'displacement map.' hmmmmm.

When you are displacing the Venom layer..you must use the black and white top image as the "aux imputs" for 1 and 2..if that makes sense?

    Hello!
I have a problem and I hope you can help me. I painted a acrylic painting on a 50x70cm canvas. I photographed the canvas during the process.
First I want to warp the photograps of the paintings in Gimp so that the canvas becomes a perfect rectangle. As we know, when we photograph a canvas, the angle is never perfect. So I want to warp the canvas in the photography to a perfect rectangle. I know the warp function in gimp, but I dont know how to warp it so that it becomes a perfect rectangle.
Secondly, when like 4 photographs of the canvas have been warped, I want to cut a few milimeters of the edges off the canvas, so that the edges become very clean looking. But I want to cut in the exact same spot on the canvas on every photography. Then I want to scale it to the exact same size, so that I have 4 photographs of the canvas of the exact same size. So that every spot is exactly where it is on the other photography. Do you know what I mean?
My plan is to make a animation in blender. I want to cut out several parts of the photographs to get to work them togeter. Thats why Im very concerned about the size, so that everything will be spot on and nothing wont be off later in the process.
I hope I explained my problem so that you could understand what I mean. If you know how to approach this, please let me know. Unfortunately I didnt find anything on youtube that could help me.
    Thanks

Instead of throwing away your desaturated layer, which you already adjusted...you could have kept it, because you had to recreate basically the same thing again

The only thing that I find misleading is that what you call an object is not an object. It is an image. It's not like you are importing a 3D model into Gimp and putting an image on it.
