746 international matches in England's history. Probably 500 have footage somewhere in some archive. That's 40,000. 670hrs, nearly a month. Come on England Rugby make it happen.
I know, his hand was so clearly underneath the ball. I think they spotted it in the commentary I watched at the time, but no one seemed to bat an eye in this
@@imanton_20 at no stage does the ball even appear to go backward - even under the new rules, Slades hands are not moving backward, he releases the ball between 3 and 4 meters behid the half way line, and May catches the ball slightly beyond it. If you play the tape from 1:27:26 and pause, then use the > key to move it frame by frame, I think you may change your mind.
Bill Bonnington Yes but the ball moves forward because of the momentum, slade’s intention is clearly to pass it backwards and you see it with his hands and hip movement. That’s why referees had no problem with it
The pass is looked at relative to the players not the ground. If the players werent moving and the ball was passed in the same way then it's fine. The pass is backwards relative to the players and therefore it's fine. If every pass was judged relative to the ground then half the passes ever made while running would be forward. The ref knew this straight away and decided not to check the pass. We'll all just have to agree to disagree as it appears everyone sees it differently.
Ireland were shocked by the intensity in the first 10 minutes. Listen to Curry howling like a wildman at 11:46 when Stander gets stood up by Wilson or Curry himself stone walling the attack at 13:29 . England replicated that intensity vs the ABs in the WC Semi too.
Just watching some of Ireland's games from 2006-2007, and the level of creativity then compared to now is absolutely insane...Nowadays the Ireland team just plod along, no one seems comfortable with ball in hand, just lazy robotic movement at all times. Back then the entire backline was a threat, even (dare I say it) the likes of Girvan Dempsey played with more flair than these guys. Just seeing O'Driscoll, Horgan, and Hickie move with such pace, angles of running and passion a was a breath of fresh air again. Stringer's speed of ball was on another level. God I miss those players.
Just seen some of Englands games from 2003-2010, and the level of creativity then compared to now is absolutely insane. Nowadays England just plays with big forwards and capitalize on opposition mistakes- not creating anything themselves. That's why I don't watch England.
Saying names is pretty much all a commentator needs to do. He doesn't even need to memorise them. How someone can repeatedly fail with the single component of their job is beyond me.
OK it's not the sole requirement - Hearing Jiffy struggling after Andrew Cotter disappeared against France in 2013 kind of reinforces how it's more than just reciting names. But it's kind of like going to war with guns and the wrong ammo.
Interesting watching this match again, England look pedestrian having just watched the 2003 and 2007 sides which got to the WCF’s The intensity of the those England sides at the breakdown was faster and far greater than this good 2019 side could attain. This malaise of the Eddie Jones era has caused great problems for England Rugby, which the current attack and defence coaches of the Borthwick era don’t seem to come to grips with. They need to look back at the fitness levels of those 2003 and 2007 sides.
Are you insane? 2007's side got destroyed by South Africa in South Africa because they could not cope with the altitude and ran out of breath very quickly. Fitness in 03 and 07 was very different as was the rules around the breakdown and the scrum. You can't compare fitness, breakdown rules, or setups on attack/defence (which are far more organised than early 2000s) from 20 years ago
i think he'd be better as a centre, he hasn't got much of a look in against may and watson and with tuilagi out i think he could be our first choice 13 for a year or so
Limey Turtle or at least decent. The Boks at the WC read him incredibly well, managed to get under his skin and frustrate him enough that he looked like he would be in England rather than in a World Cup final.
Earls is always like that. Constant Irish (and Welsh and Scots) ruining the international game. Once upon a time one word from a player and it was back 10 yds. With Biggar in the team Wales would never get out of their own half. But those days are gone.
Curry's tackle was not a yellow, penalty at most because it was slightly late but it was NO shoulder charge! He wrapped arms as can clearly see in the reply. England smash the spuds, yet again! HAVE IT. [----|----]
Bob Smith French ref,French refereeing. They let go stuff that would be carded by any other referee and card players for non existing infractions. And let’s not get started on rucks or scrums. No-man’s land really.
Courtney Lawes proving the analogy of putting a late hit in early (although was still legal). Sexton did not want the ball with Lawes in front of him for the remainder of the game!!
Watching these matches just confirms for me how poor the Sky Co-commentators are compared the ones used by BT. I end up muting all the Sky domestic games. Proves that good rugby players don’t always make good Co-commentators.
Being an Irish rugby fan I was shocked that Ireland lost this game so convincingly. The very same team that beat the All Blacks just a few months back and won the Grand Slam beforehand.
Some crap Garces decisions as usual. Curry was in the air before Earls (who always makes the must of it) got rid of the ball. Itoje jumped for the ball with Earls. Of course Earls milked it. Garces shld not be allowed an Eng match.
the one good thing to come out of the whole world being in quarantine is these matches
Sofia Xx that’s true

Mother Nature must be loving it too mate!
100% true
I'm an American, but I love English rugby...a real man's sport. Thx!
@Ribeye Demon it's not though
It is the manliest sport, so to speak. Depends how you define Masculinity but by the typical definition it is a very manly sport.
Painful memories for an Irish fan but what a great performance this was by England.
Keep these videos coming.
I'd imagine how you're playing now helps haha. Grand slam 2023 I reckon. Good luck
Hey look at you guys now! I have you tipped for grand slam winners and perhaps a record best World Cup finish… good luck!
Thought it at the time and it's really clear here: Healy didn't score that try on 24 minutes. The ball was held up.
Patrick Samphire Thank god it didn’t affect the outcome!
I know, his hand was so clearly underneath the ball. I think they spotted it in the commentary I watched at the time, but no one seemed to bat an eye in this
@@jackyarrow9442 Said this in the pub at the time, no-one agreed. Glad I'm not alone. Begs the question of what are people looking at.
clear knock on by the 11 in the build up to the penalty also.
Healy knew that as you can see not really celebrating the try.
Watching this in 2023 and the core of the England team are still there but don't play anywhere near that level
mako held that up at 33:55
So good to see that absolute beauty of a pass from Slade to May again. My god, poetic.
if a tad forward...

Farrell's pass at 7:25 is pure gold

And then completely bottled it in the Final against the Saffas. Still angers me to this day. Game was lost in the first 15 mins.
@@pattate1246 I dont know if they really bottled it but were rather emotionally spent and frankly SA saved their best game until the last.

1:07:52 that hit from Farrell on sexton is amazing
Best thing about his game was that Ireland were hyping themselves up as the world champions incumbent at the start. All down hill from here
And look at you now
Johnny May could find his way to the try line in the dark.
Yep. Superb winger.Has all the skills . Excellent consistency, which is unquestionable.
How things have changed in 4 years!
Missed this was at work but now can watch happy isolation
KEEP CALM AND BOX ON My condolences. Fantastic match to watch live.
Wish the commentator would stop calling Itoje Mario. Pretty sure he’s not Italian.

Awful commentary, far too much needless & irrelevant waffle, almost as bad as Miles Harrison.
39:03 funny how O’Mahony try’s to tap tackle nowell off the ball
Joke of a yellow on Curry, perfectly fine tackle!
... but a year later Henshaw on May was fine. Go figure.
Is there a video without a very bias Irish commentary?

There's no way the first try was grounded! Mako with a brilliant try saving tackle.
May’s try was clearly grounded
41:15 when your younger siblings tries to clear you out of a ruck. XD You can hear Faz yell "Yes!" When manu throws him too lmaoo.

Diego Lepenne still don’t know how the first Irish try was given as well... Mako’s hand is so clearly underneath
God Sinckler used to be such a hothead. Really calmed down now
Did they have to keep the ref's mic on the whole time... Gotta listen to him panting away
The only dislikes are probably from Irish fans lmao
Naah they're very good blokes after the whistle. For sure they're from jealous sheep shaggers.
Quite annoying how obvious it was that Healy’s try at 24 minutes was held up, yet it was still missed by the ref, touch judges, and the TMO!

It's been the same since the beginning of sports. Referees are blind.
You could see Ireland weren’t up for this. Right up to the rubbish Curry yellow card, the continuous Ireland complains, gave the game away.
