@Crabtree1844 the former rain was the primitive gospel of Christ and the knowledge of God at and before Pentecost. Right after receiving this primitive godliness they were plunged into persecution. So when the knowledge and power come to preach the truth and heal it will set us in array against the world which leads to persecution. So to say we are praying for latter rain is to pray for persecution purging.
@Crabtree1844 CD Brooks said it best. His mom ask him to look in the oven to see if the bread was done, he would come back say yes the knife did not stick. His mom would say turn up the fire to brown the bread. So for gods people to be ready the later primitive truth will lead to persecution never seen because this is the last time. This is the only time we will know the result of the gospel producing 5 wise and 5 foolish.
