You can use this rec room tutorial method to make custom NPCs follow players or follow objects that players are holding in your games and custom rooms. Rec room needs to have an update called the follow gizmo where you can hook up the enemy and it will follow someone with a specific role with just one chip
Maybe eventually, i know at the cv2 panel they talked about people being able to make there own chips, thamks for watching :)

It 100% sure but I think your right, if you can wire the animation gizmo to the pin instead of the actual enemy,🤦♂️ man that would have been a cool extra bit

Hey! I set everything up correctly but. When you said “pause the video and click this” you had a trigger volume? What do i do with it?
i hooked it up to an add role chip, and i had to male the new role as well

Ohhh never tried animation with this one, its the oldest one, it will probably work if its not physical, the monster not thw cube

The block has to be physical, if you animate the monster then attatch the animatoon gozmo tot he look at it will an ok mate and follow

Hey so I’ve had a question. So there’s a game called sewer terror and the NPC only goes in the hallway and doesn’t clip through the walls. I was wondering how to do that
I been trying to figure that out also, i think if the object is physical and the walls are set to environment though i haven't tested it
@@theRCLman late reply but it might be detecting the floor/walls to prevent clipping
Incase you’re still wondering, In that room the monster almost functions the same way as it does in this video, But instead of following a player, it follows a goblin AI that is following you on a basically simplified copy of the map but way underground so you can’t hear it

Quick question, would it be possible to make them stop following you once the a certain length away, but when you start moving again they will too?
there are a few different ways to do this, you could use circuits to make it basically switch on when the distance gets below some number, kinda hard to explain on here or you could attacha huge trigger zone and when the player leave it they get the follow role removed

Can you make it so like it can’t go through walls and can go around walls? it’s alright if you can’t
The best way is probably to attach a an invisible collision to the front of the monster and have it interact with objects
wait, so what's the difference "functionality" wise on CV1 vs CV2 Bots? does cv1 work better? or is this just different methods?
As far as an enemy following you its about the same, cv2 will follow you everywhere, and cv1 is limited to how far the pistons go, atleast the ones i made, as far as full functionality cv2 is better you can controll mess with and measure much more with cv2 but cv1 has somethings cv2 does not like animation gizmo, object respawners but i am sure cv2 veraions will happen at some point

Another question
It is not about the things following you, but, how do you make the maker pen items so close to you? When I try the just move straight until they hit a solid object
I think you have surface snap on, open maker pen on top right move snapping to grid or off

So, me and my friend are making a horror game together and we were trying to have the entity follow us, and I followed all of the instructions, I even changed the circuits that you said were not compatible with those other circuits, and it doesn’t follow me at all and I don’t know why. I was wondering if you could please help me out with it?
do you have the role assigned to you, is the 30 hz receiver hooked up, also this device will only follow the first player who has the role, once that persons role is removed it will switch to the next person ( am currently working on an improved version and then a follow the closest person tutorial)

hmmmmm, is the cube physical, its got to be something, the new video is nearly the same with some chip substitutions, and extra features (kill players, wall collision)

I saw some AIS that have a goblin under the map how it works?
I have seen that too it's probably doing something similar except following the Goblins moves instead of the player
Search RCL_Follow_cv2 in the invention store. Also use a set velocity chip instead of velocity add ( video was made before velocity set was out of beta)

The velocity set chip is now available, switch out the velocity add chip with the velocity set. This should help

Yes either that or trigger zone, they changed the name sometime last year, type trigger in the palette search

How can you make something like a gadget stick to part of you, like your head? Like lets say I want to make it to there is a trigger volume on the head and whenever an object tagged "food" touches it the food respawns under the map because if an object respawner wired to it
the best way to do this (that i know of) is to turn on shoulder holstering and attach the trigger zone to an object people can put on there back

people seem to be having trouble with this, I will look into it, i think the monster can go through but the follow cube at the bottom can not
so unfortunately the best solution i can find right now is making the bottom cube wider so it hits the wall before the enemy's body does and stops it, in the process of trying to fix this i found that this method is probably just bad and i need to find a better way to make something follow people

yes you would increase the blue number however i would recomentd replacing the velocity add chip with a velocity set chip (it becomes way more stable) example in video - ruclips.net/video/PSjgFMIS-Xk/видео.html

Question, how do you make it follow more players at once? I tested this out and it seems to only follow one player, and only that player even if 2 players have the same role.
So im not 100% sure but i believe it follows the closest one, so if 2 ppl have same role it will go to closest

I've been stuck on this for a while now for about a day the enemy that I made just won't follow me it'll look at me but it won't follow me, the only thing I'm confused on is why it won't follow me I did everything right can you help

@@theRCLman and it has the correct tags and everything and I used your invention from the store it is moving it but it's only looking at me it's not actually following me

PLEASE HELP I’ve tried multiple times and everything works but as soon as I put the cube as physical it starts to glitch out and it flys around and goes to random places
So there are a few things, do you have the role currently, try to reduce the speed, also replace the velocity add chip with a velocity set chip, gonna release an updated version in a day or so

I have set up everything correctly, and I wanted to have an animation that moves the enemy’s legs. It worked without the animation gizmo attached, but when I hooked it up to the look at gizmo it wouldn’t move. I tried clamping it as well, but it didn’t work. Help!
Did you try hooking the animation gizmo to the gold pin on the look at gizmo

are you taking about the path things from the beta? or like telling it where to go?
So like the ai made in this video, I bet there is a way to make the ai follow a path (or it's just a completely different ai), so it doesn't just go after the player 24/7, and when spotting the player, it follows a path closest to the player. This is possible because of a huggy wuggy (Poppy Playtime) thing I found in rec room, huggy wuggy has an AI that follows a path but then when spotting the player, finds the fastest path to the player.

I have a question I have tried this with a character that has a walking animation but the character just falls over every time I try to put it standing up what would be the best suggestion to get over this situation?
Is the animation gozmo aytached to the look at? Try configureing the different parts to be environmental or decoration
Would their be a certain area to wire the animation device and look at device like say the play button for the animation?
Wire the black body of the animation gizmo to the gold pin on the look at gizmo, you would also configure the red pin to 1 so that it plays, probably ahould configure to ping pong as well
The character is now levitating up in the air staring at me only
Thing is that it’s in the air instead of the ground and well it’s not moving.

Unhook the 30 hz reciever, its beeping because no one has the role to follow the circuit is erroring out

Yes it called RCL_Follow i think, its been a while, also rr has changed some stuff so i think you have to change the follow role if you get it

What do i do if I want the monster to be tall and have a kill spot on his neck
Unfortunately this old version doesnt work well with tall stuff, i have a new version coming out soon that is more stable, as far as the kill spot, you need to hook something breakable to the look at gizmo, and a trigger volume around it so that once it is shot and breaks it sends a signal to stop the monster or whatever you want to happen

I've had a few people ask this, i am going to try to figure this out. Because i though that it couldn't go through walls at least the orange cube couldn't but i will check to make sure

Sounds like there is somerhing wrong with your velocity add chip hook ups, best advice over text would be to try to rewire the add velocity chip
So I used the invention version of this and I hooked everything up where the thing looks at me but it won't follow me I got no clue what to do
Seems alot of people are having this issue, i recently discovered that when you save a role chip in an invention it actually changes the name to name(cloned), i am gonna have to go back in and remake this invention

@@ViruscideRA9 make sure the name of the role chip exactly matches the role on the get player with role chip, its kinda hard not being in person, if its still not working i can try to show you on rr sometime

So it seems when the enemy reaches you it does this i am trying to find a new method so this doesn't happen, best solution rn is to slow the monster down or, attach a trigger zone infront of the monster, and when it hits the player it removes the bait role a respawn the player elsewhere

Could you explain further what you mean by gizmos, chips , and gadgets. Like are you wanting special things added, or do you need to know how to set up circuits for a hide and seek map?
@@theRCLman The roles random. 1 seeker, and the rest hiders. The seeker, when you get touched, to be in a special lobby, (tutorial on how to put in special place when dead) when touched by hider. When only hider is there, the hider wins. When the timer ends, (how to make timer tutorial) all hiders win. Need more information? Ask again! I would be happy to inform you. :)

It didn't work I tried it on a party grouper in my backrooms game but it didn't follow me it only bounced around so I had to deleted it and the codeine
