If you do it once it’s funny and cute, more than once people sense a pattern and people start thinking they’re alcoholics and can’t take care of their kids 🤣
This is my observation in general regarding sitcoms - whenever the usual "straight man" character (in this case, Jim and Pam) does something crazy (get drunk, get high etc) or silly it is usually funnier than the actual weird person does something crazy. This is because its a surprise which you weren't expecting. You expect Dwight or Michael or Andy to do something stupid and say stupid things but you don't expect it from Jim or Pam or Oscar so you're pleasantly surprised when it happens. However, if you overdo it, you ruin it because then its not a surprise anymore.
Now that I think back about it, some of the sitcom moments that made me laugh the most were when the "straight man" does something silly. Mitchell in Modern Family getting high (along with Phil) is my favorite sitcom moment.
Drunk Pam was hilarious in The Dundies episode from Season 2. I would love to see Drunk Angela though (unless I missed it)

CONSISTENCY FOR THE WIN
Either John and Jenna actually got drunk to portray themselves as a drunk Jim and Pam, or they're just that good at portraying those characters in that way cause the way Pam talked loudly as they walked into the building and the way Jim said "aw, nuts" and snickered sounded spot-on
Jenna knew this about her character, as Pam was loud drunk in Season 2.

in the office ladies podcast jenna confirmed that both john and herself were completely sober during the filming of these episodes!

In the earlier seasons the door had an exit sign, so presumably it was an exit door but in season 9 it became a closet where the documentary crew had their stuff on.
