    Recently (6wks ago) I purchased a JVC KW V660 DVD head unit. Professionally installed. After hating it’s GUI I requested to have the Pioneer (in this video) HU be the replacement devise.
    From the first glance the pioneer was way more to my liking. The controls (sadly I’m still waiting for the shop to have free time to correctly set up steering controls which do not work at all) are not bad and the graphics are exactly why I’d hoped for. But the sound is crappola. I have 4 JL Audio C2 series speakers w/crossovers. In the stock head unit they were pleasing. When I sorted out the EQ feature of the JVC THEY ROCKED.
    (Playing low frequency music such as Melvins’ Stoner Witch, as well as Floyd’s Wish You Were Here CDs, extremes of sound. Never before did the immense subs sound crystal clear at any volume on Melvins CDs until the JVC.)
    The Pioneer sounds so bad I literally just pulled off the freeway to remove my speaker covers thinking possibly the speakers had been swapped with junk, assuming as a customer I wouldn’t ever realize it. But no, my speakers aren’t the problem.
    It’s this POS sounding head unit.
    I see today, upon investigation the pioneer is lower powered, but only 17rms vs 21rms (x4). This shouldn’t matter but his head unit has all the nice functions but doesn’t allow these speakers to be turned above 17. (The number on the screen)
    I am thinking I might get the crappy GUI that was the JVC, just because this Pioneer sucks.
    I’m already into this installation nearly $1000 between labor and components.

      This sounds like you may have the receiver set up in Network Mode and are not getting all of the low frequency output you would expect from the receiver, ( that's normal operation)
      or you possibly don't have the crossover and slope settings set up in the proper manner for your speakers. I'm sure with a little more information, and changing a few settings you can have a great sounding system.
      What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? If you have Pioneer DMH-2660NEX, please check the Fade and Balance Control.
      Take a look at this How To video from Pioneer to find the Fade and Balance Control: ruclips.net/video/Z86fQryoRVk/видео.html
      If you don't have a Fader Control, that means the system is set up in Network Mode and a complete group of audio settings will need to be adjusted for better sound and more bass output.
      It's easy to change the system to Standard Mode.
      If you do have a fader control, then proceed to the crossover settings. What are the settings for FRONT HPF? What are the settings for REAR HPF?
      Take a look at this How To video from Pioneer to learn about the crossover settings: ruclips.net/video/Z86fQryoRVk/видео.html
      Please reply with some detailed information about your system, and I'm sure we can get it working much better with a few simple settings.

    The new samsung phones do not work with this unit. Android Auto just shows a blank screen when you connect your samsung s22 to it. It is a problem on all pioneer headsets. You can see the issue all over the reddit boards

      Thank you for this information. As of 2022 February Pioneer is studying this information.

    I'm certain this is a dumb question, but does this unit allow you to cycle through NON-Android-Auto audio sources (radio, Sirius XM, etc.) with use of the steering wheel controls WITHOUT exiting Navigation/Android Auto? I expect to have Google Maps up most of the time (which seems like it requires Android Auto to be running?), but still want to be able to control the radio without having to exit the Navigation screen to do so.

    • @pioneerelectronics
      @pioneerelectronics  Год назад

      Yes, the system is designed with this in mind. You can in most cases use the steering wheel controls to change the music source and advance track or change radio station presets from the in-dash receiver without leaving Google Maps, or Waze from the Android Auto Screen. No worries. There is a little more to this answer. Please keep reading.
      When you use a Pioneer in-dash receiver that works with Android Auto, you'll find you don't have to "exit" google maps or Waze to use the Pioneer receiver. Just touching the Pioneer button changes screens to the Pioneer music source screen. You can make any changes you want. Google maps or Waze is still operating in the background, you've just changed what is displayed on the in-dash receiver screen. From the home screen you can choose Android Auto and change screens directly back to Google Maps or Waze. No need to restart Android Auto or the navi application. It's still operating.
      The same thing goes for the backup camera. When you put the vehicle in reverse, the camera screen should automatically appear. When you take the vehicle out of reverse, the navigation screen will automatically appear.
      Given that the steering wheel control has buttons for Source, and Track/Preset advance this should work with no trouble. However any given combination of factory steering wheel control and 3rd party steering wheel control adapter may yield slightly different results.
      With AM/FM Radio you should be able to control radio station preset up/down and with SiriusXM radio station preset up/down. If the AM/FM radio is set to seek, you can use the same preset up/down button to manually search for a radio station rather than use a preset. However changing the preset/manual mode will require you to go out to the radio to make the changes.
      You can see this demonstrated in this How To video from Pioneer: ruclips.net/video/kpKYks-17gM/видео.html

    how do i connect gps navigation on this unit other than the ones in carplay(google and apple maps)? like do i need to install an external accessory to get this feature?

    • @pioneerelectronics
      @pioneerelectronics  3 года назад

      The Pioneer DMH-2660NEX is designed to operate with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and to use the navigation apps provided through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I'm not aware of a way to add on any external accessory to provide GPS navigation through this receiver. does this head unit allow a side camera aside from just the rear camera?

    • @pioneerelectronics
      @pioneerelectronics  2 года назад +1

      The Pioneer DMH-2660NEX has a dedicated backup camera, and a secondary camera input that can be switched on at any time. However please note, the 2nd camera will not automatically switch on with a turn signal or other input. It must be manually switched. Depending upon your particular install needs, a better option may be the Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX seen here: ruclips.net/video/QrvNkGgRo7E/видео.html or the Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX seen here: ruclips.net/video/B2TTfJUD-es/видео.html
      When used with the iDatalink Maestro RR2, these receivers can use a 2nd camera input from a turn signal camera or other type of camera. This is dependent upon the support from Maestro RR2. You can lean more about Maestro RR here: www.idatalinkmaestro.com/en
