    We had heard about the Hindu fireWalking Festival.
    My wife and I watched this event for the first time in computer business office.
    It seems to have been banned in India, but in multi-religious Singapore, it’s permissible, so we think it is an important festival for the Hindu community .☝️🌟

      This festival is very much alive in Tamil Nadu, Southern India. That's where Singapore's Indian community originated from. Other parts of India does not observe this festival. It's not banned. I think everyone of the Hindus who participated in this ceremony is very brave.

      Anyone can visit. You will need to queue at Temple Street to enter the temple. Queueing time is 1 to 2 hrs.

    i never seen anything like this! wow great footage. it's all a matter of physics and thermal dynamics. You can wet your foot or coat your feet with dirt prior to walking, walk fast, and limit your actual time stepping on the hot surface. You won't feel anything! But if you walk slow and don't coat your feet with something like water , then you will get burned.

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  10 месяцев назад

      I spoke to a veteran fire walker that day. He prefers to walk during the day on the hot asphalt road. The feet gets accustomed to the hot road surface and it's easier to walk fast on the burning embers. People who walk at night, walk on the cold asphalt before stepping onto the fire pit. At the end of the fire pit is a trench filled with milk to immediately soothe the hot feet. There's 3000 devotees this year and their timing are balloted and they don't get to choose the time slot. The whole event was well organised.

    such an interesting ceremony. it reminds me a lot of the kew ong yeah (nine emperor gods) festival where the devotees walk across the burning amber to remove all the evil deeds.

      I thought Kew Ong Yah ceremonies have stopped the practice of walking on burning amber. Do they still do this? Let me know if they still do as I like to record it to share. Thanks!

    An amazing event. Do they suffer burns to their feet, or is their speed enough to prevent damage?

      @Vikneshpriya96 10 месяцев назад

      It's normal to have a few spots or blisters.. end of the day it is hot.. but they are usually very very manageable to the extend the guys actually go to work after finishing their firewalk. It's that normal..😊

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  10 месяцев назад

      As Viknesh replied, there will be spots or blisters. At the end of the fire pit, there's a trench filled with milk which cools and soothes their feet when they step into it. Some people feel that speed is good. Some think that speed will make the feet step harder onto the burning embers. It's amazing what faith can drive people to do.

    Never imagined it’s so big inside.
    Whatever scientific explanation, it takes a lot courage. Ouch
    Looks like they welcomed the small pocket 3. If with the huge gimbal, don’t know how they react.
    I have had positive reception with Feiyu2. Small and inconspicuous can help. But, they look like welcoming the videographer more.

    • @SingaporeCityWalks

      Yes, it takes a lot of courage to walk on burning coal. The chief priest lead by example by being the 1st to walk on the fire pit. Small cameras does not look intruding and can get to places where big cameras won't be allowed. Mark, thanks for you comment.
