    I've got the latest PD i30 'with the lot' (not red) and it's a gem!! As a Jag XK-E Type owner in the nineteen sixties, this iteration of the PD i30 feels somewhat similar, albeit not quite as 'full on', in that both share/d cheetah-like road-holding which complements their ability to go like a scalded cat! (even euro lovers won't love the 'N' ' [when it arrives] 'cause it's an Hyundai, & badge snobs need not apply)

    Just curious, I've noticed the i30 doors have that solid door clunk (like a European car), whereas the Elantra has those very light weight doors (often found in Asian or cheaper cars).
    Does the Elantra feel as composed over really rough roads (SR versus Elite/Active variants)? Does the suspension make that jarring/crashing noise over really big bumps or pot holes, or does it absorb them well enough in this category of cars? This is also a good indicator of the refinement of the ride, probably worth showing the car ride over speed-humps is a good thing to show also.
    Ditto, same questions for the i30 variants too?
    I'd be interested to know the Db noise inside the cabin on these reviews, both at lower speeds 60kph, 100kph, and 110kph on these lower priced cars? As this can often give good guidance on which is the more refined car.
    Otherwise, keep up the good work guys.

    As a dad with a toddler, i appreciate the channel!! Elantra SR or i30 SR? Both seem to review well.

      Hi Sai - thanks for watching! That's a very good question you've asked mate! I think it really depends on your own personal family situation and kid size. For me I'd probably go for the Elantra SR over the i30. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the new i30 SR - in fact I think it's got a nicer DCT shift quality over the Elantra for some reason (maybe because it's the more modern car and they've improved the software) and the new 8.0" touchscreen system is much nicer than the older one in the Elantra (and Veloster too). I'd take the Elantra SR because I love the sportier body kit styling (it looks a bit like an Audi A3 sedan from some angles - the i30 SR is a little bit understated for me) and it has the space and a few more features as standard too. Both are pretty good cars and the i30 now feels very refined (European?), so I think you'd be happy with either one.

      BRRRRM Australia....But the i30 has satellite navigation as well as DAB radio. And wireless charging pad. And it's a current model. The Elantra is due for an update isn't it ?

      @BRRRRMAustralia  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Simon. Thanks for watching! You're right mate - the new i30 does have some great new convenience features such as the new multimedia system and DAB, but personally (and this is just me) I'd still go for the Elantra SR because it's probably the better value for money proposition between the two cars (SR vs SR). While the i30 feels more modern, I do like the aggressive looks and sporty features of the Elantra SR, eg the flat bottom steering wheel and body kit (the i30 SR looks a little bit conservative for me for a sports version). In Australia you'd also need to get the i30 SR Premium (A$33,950) to get leather (and heated) seats and a sunroof, which is standard on the Elantra SR (A$31,290). Both are good cars and I'm sure when the Elantra gets an upgrade (don't know when I'm afraid) it will be an even harder decision!

      +Paul Bolos ...I'll be sure to raise this with the dealership but I'm guessing they can't do much about reception issues.

    How does the 2018 i30 SR premium compare to the 2017 Elantra SR turbo? Only asking because I’m looking at the Elantra but there are none to test drive near me, but there is the i30 which I heard has a similar drivetrain, so my question is how does the drive compare between the two?

      Hi blackduck - thanks for watching! Our channel is aimed at the "petrol head" with family commitments who wants to drive something fun or interesting rather than mainstream. I know most people who bought the previous i30 went for the base model (fleets included), but we thought it would be more interesting to see how Hyundai is making more sporty cars (eg, the new SR versions, and the upcoming i30 N hot hatch with over 200kW) to improve their brand image.

    • @owlfrisky4570
      @owlfrisky4570 7 лет назад

      looks wise, yeah civic hatch is polarising (i like it, but i know others hate). But feature wise the top civic hatch is 37k, hyundai quoted the sr premium at 40k. has a better interior layout as well

    • @XQoozMii
      @XQoozMii 7 лет назад

      owl frisky are we talking about driveway price? because I'm pretty sure the SR premium is about 35k + on road costs which should bring it to approximately 37-38k driveway. I'm not sure where you got 40k from???
      If you can't afford the Premium, you can get the SR manual for 25k + on roads and just option up the sunroof for an extra 2k and it'll still be cheaper than the DCT version. You also keep the 1.6 turbo whereas you have to spend a little more for the Civic to get the 1.5 turbo engine. Also, the Civic does not offer a manual for the enthusiast whereas Hyundai does.
      This by no means makes the i30 better than the Civic because everyone has a preference, but in terms of value proposition, the i30 SR is hard to beat.

      @XQoozMii 7 лет назад

      owl frisky I was quoted 37k for the premium. but over heard of people getting 38k but not any more than that. Maybe it just depends on the dealer or the area you live?
