Charang Valley Trek - Detailed Itinerary
Day 01 : Chandigarh - Rekong peo
Distance : 316km : Duration : 10 -12 hours
Early morning drive through Chandigarh to reach rekong peo ( Kinnaur head quarter).Best way is to travel through Deluxe bus with reclining seats ,which make journey very much comfortable compare to ordinary bus.Bus fare and seats are the only difference. Although I prefer the same bus which departs from ISBT43 chandigarh in evening is best, if you love night travelling (it's bit less chaotic, less traffic, less stopage).
*Note : Buy everything you want in rekong peo whether it's trekking equipments or eatables
Day 02 - Rekong peo - Charang : Distance :~70km Duration : ~5 hours
Normally there is bus route available from rekong peo to charang village , although bus route name is Rekong peo-thangi.Due to covid protocols on weekend bus is cancelled,so we choose Kaza-shimla bus to reach moorang bridge near NH5 after that we do hitchhiking from moorang village to charang village. Remember to eat your breakfast because there is only one dhabha in this route and that is in shurting ,and it will take 3hours to reach there. You can also book a taxi or mini traveller but it will cost you in thousands of Indian rupees.after reaching charang visit Rangrik Tuma monastery (2km) away from village as it is an imp feet of this parikarma trek.
Day 03Charang - Lalanti Guest house (4465 m)
This day will begin with the trek ascending in Charang Valley and encompasses eight km in 5-7 hours. Beautiful meadows of Lalanti with loads of blossoming high altitude flowers are sure to mesmerise us. Trail is well maintained but last 2-3km is loose rocks only. The widespread carpet of blossoming red and yellow flowers under the bright blue sky along with the sound of the garrulous mountain rivers adds more charm to the picturesque beauty of the valley and the overall trekking experience. The camp site is located on the right of Lalanti stream near lalanti guest house
*Day 04 - Lalanti - Charang la base (4876m)
Trail distance : 7.8km Duration : 6-8 hours
Day will begin with the trek ascending deeper in Charang Valley. Beautiful meadows turns into rocky roads with only conglomerate ,boulders and Loose moraine. You can rest for lunch near lalanti lake ,This trail is in rockfall prone area so be careful also try to cross river with crocs or running shoe because rocks in stream is very sharp which can injured yourself but the overall trekking experience is good because it's different kind of beautiful.
*Day 05 - Charang La base - Shaltiya
Day start with the rapid ascend of 300 m trail with 75 degree steepness to Charang la pass at an altitude of ~5242m.Then some local worship rituals of local deities ,& we head to Chitkul ,but whole trail is composed of rocky terrain with sharp pointy rocks make the walk like hell,so shaltiya is a good campsite or if you have some energy left then surely go for chitkul
*Day 06 - Shaktiya to chitkul
Short trail to chitkul village where the treks end in Chitkul devi ji temple and the you can rest & enjoy your fav food. I would suggest go for riverside camping near baspa river"Himalayan tribe campsite" could be a better option where you can choose 3500 rupee/person luxury swiss tent or budget alpine tent 1000Rupee /person according to your budget.
Nice video Sunny... really enjoyed the silent format. Was very relaxing to watch. Just one thing, the overlay text was a bit too small. It was fine to read on the desktop, but must have been very difficult for people reading on the phone.
Thanks a lot brother.Iam bit confused about the overlay text ,I will improve next time for sure,.Thanks for suggestions ,thanks for guidance 🙏
