The reason you can't see all the vertices after adding a solidify modifier is because the faces are inverted. You can fix this by going to edit mode and select all vertices then click Mesh > Normals > Recalculate Outside.

6:48 The reason it isn't selecting it is because, it's inverted or inside-out, if you scale down it will fix it but, you will need to put it back in place however it wouldn't matter because of the solidify. Nothing important just wanted say :D

Foe some reason when I change the thickness on the leaves they don't get the uneven surface on the bottom it's just flat

The solidify made some of the parts of the tree's vertices and stuff not show bec it the thickness was covering the vertices, i think!

Hey, this is super late RoBuilder but at 6:49 the reason why it wasn't selecting everything was because you never applied the modifier (you never click the apply button)

I really love this tutorial but it isn't beginner friendly, it seems you need to know all of the shortcuts and have the colour grid downloaded (which I don't have) to be able to follow along( I didn't even know how to pan the camera lol) . Not to say, it wasn't helpful, it helped me a ton and I'm Thankful for your easy going tutorials, If I had one criticism it would be just, if your doing a tutorial on blender, assume the audience is at 0, baby level, because you will def find ppl like me, who want to pick up a 3D from zero, so maybe have the short cut keys soon the bottom left or right of your tutorial 9. 5/10

you have to restart all the leavs so when you add a circle make sure the next time it isnt in edit mode it should be in bject mode

I know this is an old video so you may not respond, but does anyone know why I am having troubles colouring just the trunk? I have the correct colour grid and everything, its just when I try to select just the trunk, it selects the entire tree, so I can't make the trunk brown. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Go into edit mode and select the trunk's faces. I know this is kinda hard but thats the method i use

s then move your mouse in?? it worked for me on 2.9
Go to edit mode, hit the face select mode at the topish left. Select the top face of the mesh you want to scale in, then hit (S) on your keyboard and use your mouse to scale in or out.

ye need to memorize the basic transforms
s to scale
g to move
r to rotate
e to extrude (especially when modeling off one object)
and press x, y or z AFTER selecting these to go off each axis.
Parent comment probably already knows these a year later but this is for future ppl.

@@zzel3662 You just need to select all the leaves using shift and alt, then right click and click on "separate". BOOM. Fixed. Shout out to the RoBuilders server for helping me! Awesome people!

hit 1 on your numpad (if you have one) if you dont hit the axis on the topish right. then hit (Z) hit "Wireframe" then hit (C) then select all of the leaves by holding your Left mouse button. You can also hit the middle mouse button to unselect.
