He’s using the word Lincoln to describe Abraham Lincoln freeing the slaves; but he is NOT TALKING ABOUT Abraham Lincoln, He’s talking about Jesus freeing our souls from the bondage of sin, he’s not just making a play on words, he’s making a play on politics. “To the Kingdom I pledge my allegiance, lil baby we got a King(Jesus) here.” When they hate like Cain, I’m too honest Abe(Not Abraham Lincoln, Able”, Cain’s brother. The whole song is so genius that if you don’t get it, you can’t give him the credit it’s really due!
To your question at the end of the video a lot of folks already talked about the word play throughout the song related to Abe Lincoln. Another thing I'll add is the overall message I think KB is getting at is using Lincoln freeing the slaves as a simile to him using his musical talent to help free people's heart toward Christ, giving examples throughout the song of how differently he thinks/acts in situations because he's no longer a slave to sin and the ways of the world. The simile is brilliant, really, and original as far as I've heard so far. All the wordplay about Lincoln amplifies the overall message - definitely a fire song!

He’s using the word Lincoln to describe Abraham Lincoln freeing the slaves; but he is NOT TALKING ABOUT Abraham Lincoln, He’s talking about Jesus freeing our souls from the bondage of sin, he’s not just making a play on words, he’s making a play on politics. “To the Kingdom I pledge my allegiance, lil baby we got a King(Jesus) here.”
When they hate like Cain, I’m too honest Abe(Not Abraham Lincoln, Able”, Cain’s brother. The whole song is so genius that if you don’t get it, you can’t give him the credit it’s really due!
To your question at the end of the video a lot of folks already talked about the word play throughout the song related to Abe Lincoln. Another thing I'll add is the overall message I think KB is getting at is using Lincoln freeing the slaves as a simile to him using his musical talent to help free people's heart toward Christ, giving examples throughout the song of how differently he thinks/acts in situations because he's no longer a slave to sin and the ways of the world. The simile is brilliant, really, and original as far as I've heard so far. All the wordplay about Lincoln amplifies the overall message - definitely a fire song!
