From what i can find, the J-7 is a liscense built variant of the MiG-21F, which is an earlier variant than the MiG-21F-13 we have in game. However, the J-7 is a much higher quality variant with iirc over 217 fixes and improvements done to the plane.

I think about 60% of missiles i fire get a kill. But when the missile warning was removed it was closer to 90-95%. And no, this isnt because the missiles are overpowered. No one looks around and they just tunnel vision on whatever theyre trying to kill waiting to do anything until they get the missile warning. Its honestly kindof sad that people can get to such high tiers without learning such a basic thing as taking a look around you every so often. Although i come primarily from DCS and other Sims, so i guess there that factor too.
now i've never played DCS, but at least in jets with the spotting system, etc as well as how hectic jets can be the warning is kinda necessary as an extra piece of information

Let alone air to ground fights where you have to worry about SAM batteries SHORAD and MANPADs all at the same time as putting your ordinance on target and making sure youre keeping up with coms. And this is without a bright red label being pasted onto the enemy aircraft and blue pasted onto your friendlies. Sure, there is the factor that you use the mouse for flying and looking around in WT, but i dont think even that can bridge the hecticness gap. Especially when you have a always perfect positioning dot for each spotted enemy on your little radar compared to only a few planes in DCS having datalinks that show something like that on an imperfect Situational awareness display. Also side note, i think its a definite double standard that air to air missiles that so far are all passively guided (ie send out no signals and instead look for identifying features, like a massive heat plume from a jet engine) have missile warnings but surface to air missiles that have examples of active guidance (ie signals sent out by the launcher or missile itself) dont have a warning. And its also a borderline double standard in my opinion that ATGMs dont have warnings but air to air missiles do.

I originally thought that the Chinese Mig21 was going to have the guns fire in rapid succession, to allow for a more consistent firing line, knowing they fire at the same time means they're not all that useful considering that when are the situations where one 30mm won't do terminal damage compared to 2 30mm's.
I can't do the F4 phantom same as you, I think the fundamental "Support" jets have changed quite drastically once supersonics released. Hunter F1 played the exact same as the F4, about 2 years ago, maybe a little less disciplined, but the F4 is just so much less useful, getting guns on is nearly impossible with how fast and how much more planes pull. I really do not blame F4 pilots that can't get a kill just because getting into the situation where you are actually useful in the cluster-fuck that is toptier is just so rare; a lot of the times you just have to play it wrong to help your team just because nothing is opening up.
Now it took me a while to learn how to fly mig21 and its not a plane to get tons of kills in the match but from what i see is that u use afterburners way too much...the mig21/j7 is actually really good at conserving fuel. So when you are catching up turn off your aft burner. So you will always outlast f4
I am pretty sure the phantom in real life could climb even better than it does in game and it is kinda weird how it doesn't tell you how much thrust it's engine put's out
6:00 i get your point but i do have to disagree, most of my kills come from aim 9's i play as the f100 and i usually get from 2 to 3 kills per match, it really depends on how you fire, when and where, id it hits central mass it will be a kill, if not it will usually deal a hit or critical, the missiles are extremely good at killing stalling targets, enemies turning to the wrong side enemis with speed around mach 1.0 enemies with tunnel vision on your friendlys ass and enemies not paying proper attention, if you follow this list of wen to launch it i personally guarantee a 80% or higher kill rate with air to air heat seaker missiles. I am not saying to not use it to force a turn, this part is right, i usually use one to force a turn and tge second to kill, but they are not strictly made for that.

I assume you have both Engines Upgraded? of the russian and chinese MIG. as far as i could see the Chinese one had 200 More KGF while only weighing about 44 kilos more because of the extra gun, and that the chinese engine is actually lighter

Most youtubers can ask for the tech tree researched or for planes and vehicles if they are a warthunder affiliate. But not everyone does that and sometimes they just give them stuff to make videos to draw ppl in or make them want to grind.
If you're on PC complete the tester stars or buy a pack from the gaijin store. If you're on console you'll have to wait for Sony and Microsoft to approve the packs or unlock with the tester's stars

well the J-7 II is the 3rd version of the original J-7 which is the Mig-21 F-13, so it makes sense that it's better than the F-13...
