If you have been to newtons garage . It is right beside tinker creek and it gets swampy . Flood of 85 all of it was under water . This last old exactly like newtons place
They have a lot of impressive old cars in there. It's a shame that half of them are lost to the swampy side of the property. Thans for sharing this cool little video with us, out here in dreamland. So many of us really do dream of being able to build a project car or truck, and seeing all of those neat vehicles from days gone by, just makes me want to get one of my own going. Thanks again. Hope y'all have a great day.
Unfortunately in Roanoke Virginia if your near water and not on a hill or relatively high up their is alot of flooding. On a technical note if you keep your vehicle in a garage. You want the humidity dry as a bone. 4% humidity like southern California mostly. Water in the air causes metal to rust. I live in the rust belt state. A wood stove will dry things out. Or a dehumidifier in the summer. But my dehumidifier would not shut off when I used it.
Well Newtons is actually located in Cloverdale. 9 out of 10 people will ride by it cause all you'll see is an oversized garage ., A bunch of Mopars for sale in the small lot, and in front the old concrete footing for 2 pumps. There is a couple panels for a privacy fence and trees. The cars are located behind the shop and trees. The gentleman who owns the place has done a real good job of keeping it undercover. I'll get to the actual location at the end of this. But first a few more facts. From what I understand, prior to 1985, I believe was the year, that this particular junkyard was loaded with Mopars. The yard did not have the big gaps of vegetation you saw in the video. That particular salvage yard has a creek as one of it's boundaries in the back and along one side. In 1985 the area experienced a flood. It was a flood that even today it is mentioned, referenced and remembered. Well that flood put most of those cars not in water but my understanding is that they where under or at least very close to all be under water. I also hear that when it started to dry out not all the inventory was there. The gentleman also noted that many of the cars had broken windows. The owner of the place told me the story of how a bunch of teenagers had trespassed one evening, and proceeded to bust as many windows as they could. At the time I was enteracring with this gentleman the incident must have been recent because he was extremely hesitant about letting anybody back there. The cars themselves had been pretty well picked clean of the more juicy choice parts. Most engines and trans.wrre long gone by the time I got there . Body parts interior parts etc, well there depending upon your needs can be a treasure chest,. Just keep in mind some of those cars may have sat in a lotta water. Now the guy himself seems like a pretty good dude. He was hesitant about letting me scout it out, but eventually he let me in (now this was in the 90's).. I will tell you he's was and could be extremely tuff on price and some of the pieces he would not move a dime on price and some he would. My point to all of that is the guy knows exactly what he has and what it's worth. My understanding is that he's at Carlisle every year got a both up front sells parts and cars, from what I've heard he's pretty well known up there. Well from the people I've spoken with that know the guy better than I, they are pretty sure where some of those real good parts are. According to them, at home this gentleman in addition to his home has a few out buildings in his property.
