It looks like they share load fairly well. Better than I was expecting. Great video.
Thank you 👍🏼😀
This video presented itself as I was scrolling. Very informative.
👍🏼😀
Great video and great job explaining everything that was going on. Very informative and nice to know thanks I will definitely wait before I get one myself
You’re welcome. And there are many units running just fine. But still several having this over rev isssue
@@johnnysweekends that is good to know also I bought my 3500 2 years ago on sale in my area they have all ready raised the price of the 5000 it is a 100 dollar more than when it first came out but I figured they would do that so they can improve on it just like they did with the 3500
Happy Sunday. Great video and info.
👍🏼😀
I've actually had my 5000 generator stall when starting my 2nd A/C. Happened only once. I don't have the load whine issue. So far very happy with it.
That’s good. Many are fine but for sure there are several units with issues. Thanks for the feed back
Looking at a new travel trailer that has two ACs 50amp, are you only using the 5000 for your setup? currenty have the 3500 inverter and was looking to parrel with another 3500 but if can get away with just the one 5000 that would be easier.. Thanks!
@@timcarn1740 I exchange The 5000. it blew up my Keurig one day and it started whining really bad after that. The new one will not power up two 15k
A/C units when it's over 100°. I need to install soft starts. Looking at the Spartan Smart start. It's half the price.
Both of my AC units on use 3800 watts together.
Good stuff
Thanks 😀👍🏼
Good information! I still haven’t opened the box on my Predator 2000 that I bought over 2 years ago! 🤠👍🇺🇸
Lol Jeff , this is what I tell my friends not to do. Carb could be plugged on the small jet or it may not work at all, then cant return it. But I like to keep stuff new as well in case. If you dont need maybe sell it. Once you get more and more solar on the DP then a extra battery lol you rarely need them anyway lol
@@johnnysweekends True. Ya, I’ve got 4 panels (250W each?) hooked up to the DP for charging. Great southern exposure. I need to get that gas generator out of the box and add fuel and oil and see if it’ll run! Now that I’m retired……..too many projects! 🤠👍🏻
@SaabAholic good to stay busy 😀👍🏼
Would like to see this with the Genmax 7250 and a smaller one like a 3500 or 3300

This was a very ii=interesting and factual presentation.
Thanks
I use a soft starter for my roof AC it's the Spartan soft starter from Amazon works very well doesn't trip out my inverter charger and inverter generator
Yea they are nice to have. Hence I have one on each unit.
@@johnnysweekends yep definitely takes that initial surge away
How is the 5000 doing these days? Have a 3500 that’s been a charm. It’s saved 30k of coral and fish in my reef tanks during storms. Looking to buy a 5000 for a second generator to power RV.
The 5000 is doing much better but I still see some people having problems, so maybe left over units? HF has a great return policy especially with the extended warranty so there is always that.
question, both generators are 120 and max is 30 amps, when you parallel them, I assume they are now 50amp but how can you run a 240v AC if both are only output 120v? I thought to run 220v, you need both generators to output 220? I have the similar scenarios with a Champion (30 amp output with 120/240v) and Wen (120v, 20amp) generator but wondering if using the wen parallel, would this setup help me run my AC plugging into a 50Amp inlet? TIA.
Did you get the newer 5000 and if so is DC coming back on. Traded my 5000 in for the newer updated one. It doesn't rev up anymore. Apparently it had do something with the board. Haven't tried it out yet with the 3500 though
I have not rebought the new one. So far not hearing to many problems now. So hopefully it should be a good unit.
I have a 3500 already. Looking to power my 50 amp rv with 2 ac’s. As I understand it, it will only match the amps of the smaller generator in parallel? So I should just get another 3500 instead of the 5000 to parallel with the one I have now? Thank you
That’s what I would do since the 5000 seems to still have issues
I'm using the predator 3500 for our 43foot 5er.
Running the 15K AC unit with the washer/dryer combo and in "Dry Mode" is tripping the unit a couple times though looking like it's holding for the time being, very obviously maxed out though.
With that, brings me here... researching paralleling different size units and will it work...
So, wondering if I paralleled the small 1200/1400 with my 3500... would that give me that "little extra" while running what I mentioned or will it fry the little one? Would I need another 3500 and parallel the 2 35's? Will it give me that extra bit to do what I want done while doing what I do in this trailer?
Full time is sometimes a pain in the ass.....
That’s a large trailer and when hotter items will draw more power.
When paralleling different size gens, you can only double your amps of the smaller unit. So if it only puts out 15 amps that means you get a total of 30 now.
Even though the larger gen can do 25 on its own.
Verses two 3500s could do 50 amps total.
It would be better in your situation since I assume you have two AC units as well you maybe grab another predator 3500 or move to a larger single size unit all around.
Unless you try to avoid hotter places then you can stay small.
That makes absolute perfect sense. Thank you for responding to my inquiry.
Turns out the local HF actually has another 3500 open box for sale now! Perfect opportunity!
Thank you again

My predator 5000 stalls every time i plug in my RV. i have to shut off all the breakers and plug in the unit then come back to the breaker box and flip the breakers on and off until the generator keeps up. Starting the A/C unit is the worst though. i have to flip the on and off a couple times before the generator will run it with out intervention.
Are you using a inline surge protector? You dont actually need one and some can cause issues. Also all higher loads, make sure the generator has eco mode off. If still having issues then you may definitely have one of the bad units and should return it and swap it out.
If you indeed buy a Predator generator from Harbor Freight make sure you spend the extra $329 and get the extended warranty for two full years. Predator only comes with 90 day warranty new. I bought a Honda because dealer had a pile of Predator generators sitting there waiting on repair parts, some parts are no longer available so generator will be useless. I ended up spending 2-1/2 X the money snd buying a Honda so I didn’t have to deal with it.
You can actually make a parallel cord using parts from home Depot or something
True, but most people dont know how to do this and shouldn’t plus some kits are so cheap and basic just easier to buy one now
@@johnnysweekends yea I just don't like banana plugs
Quick question. I did parallel my 3500 and 5000 but about 4 to 7 hrs in. 5000 shows DC on it. I have to push the overload but to reset it. Only running a 15K and 13K ac. Sometimes just the 15K. Weird. Any idea
Check out todays video..! 😀👍🏼they are having issues.
@@johnnysweekends did DC pop up on your screen
@hifisalty25 yes you can see it in the video
@johnnysweekends did it only happen once or has it happened plenty of times. Did it about 3-4 times. It's fine by itself
@hifisalty25 several times, when it’s hot it’s way worse.
Some times it’s fine….
Resistive loads are fine though
It’s been 9 months now. Can we get an update?
I returned the predator 5000, it was basically recalled and even the next version had some issues but I think it is resolved and now they are working good…👍🏼
@@johnnysweekends I have a 3500 I've had for years. Love it. Was a workhorse through Hurricane Ida. Was thinking about getting another one but saw they have a 5000 now. Which brings me to your video about parallele kits. lol. But if you are saying the 5000 might still have problems. Might just get another 3500.
@RidinONChrome yea if you join the forum or group it seems several are still having issues.
@@johnnysweekends good to know. I don't necessarily need 5000. But for a few $100 more I feel it's worth it. But if they are having problems then I'll pass it.
