Another great interview to help preserve the knowledge and experiences of the people that we used to invite into our lives via movies and television! Thank you Rob!
What a lovely lady Audrey Dalton is. This generation of actors and actress' are just so down to earth and humble. I agree that the violence in the old western shows really didn't feel like violence. You knew the good guys would win and you always had a solid sense of right and wrong. We have lost that sense of right and wrong in Hollywood today and in news media. America needs to get that back.
I love bonanza and Ms Dalton is in one of my favorite episodes. “ the lady from Baltimore “ glad she’s doing well. Thanks Rob for bringing us all these great actors from my youth.
How delightful to see her again. She made so many appearances across so many genres. From "Separate Tables" to "Mr. Sardonicus" in addition to the Westerns. Many thanks Rob! You never fail to deliver and surprise!
Rob I loved your interview with Audrey Dalton! It was great to meet her at the Williamsburg Nostalgia Festival. She is such a lovely lady! I would 💕 love to see her again.
@@AWordonWesterns Rob. As Audrey was leaving the festival I gave her a hug and told her that I was so happy to see her and hugged me and said she thought it was meant for me to be there to see her and for her to see me!! Such a beautiful lady!
She was all over tv in the 60s. What a beauty and a great actress. I've been watching the b/w Gunsmokes daily and saw that episode just the other day. I sure miss Burt.
A great, dark Irish beauty. She always made my legs weak. She was all over the tv westerns of the 1960s and was terrific. From a fine Irish lineage as well. Wasn't her grandfather at the GPO in 1916?
Such a lovely and gracious woman. Rob, your management of interviews is pitch perfect. Classy, genuine, down to earth, with obvious affection for the culture of film and the professionals who give it life. Bravo!
Wow she’s so wonderful and she was so talented and remembered so much I can’t get over her memories of working with those people I adore horses always loved them!
What a totally delightful guest! Ms. Dalton is so charming and captivating and transparent. What a wonderful combination. Because of her youthful appearance, It is hard to believe that she acted so many years ago!! Loved her reminisces of Dan Duryea and Buster Crabbe. As a kid, Buster was one of my favorites. And as a senior, I have really grown to appreciate Mr. Duryea's acting ability. Thank you Rob. You continue to produce high quality interviews. I believe that these priceless interviews will become even more valuable as these wonderful actors pass onto their reward.
Audrey is the daughter of General Emmett Dalton, a compatriot of Michael Collins, in fact Collins died in his arms when he was shot. Emmett went on to found Ardmore Studios and the Irish Film Board and produced some films, including one with Audrey. This Other Eden. Audrey appeared in Checkmate with Doug McClure.
Interesting interview. I remember watching movies and TV shows with Audrey Dalton in them. It is a wonderful thing to hear the stories about the stars of westerns from the hey day of the western genre. Thanks again Rob for keeping those days alive.
Thanks Rob Audrey still looks good and there is zero evidence of any mental decline. Even if specific memories get confused or forgotten is normal but her recall of actors and attitudes is perfect.
She is one of the most beautiful women ever in movies. I love the gun smoke series ad that episode is a favorite. God has blessed her greatly. Wild wild west was my favorite series growing up. Think I still have my belt buckle gun in my old toy box . At 66 memories are what we have.
Love the new interviewing set up. Very warm and cozy. Love the shallow depth of field as well. Gives it a softness that works well in an interview setting. Keep up the good work.
Always a classy performer that I enjoyed watching in so many different roles. Was watching her 1978 "Police Woman" episode which I looked up. I did not realize it was her final role. Too bad she didn't continue but I hope she enjoyed her well deserved retirement.
I just love watching this stuff..seeing the actors and actresses on these shows talking now about them is priceless.I am 60 something and still watch Rawhide , Gunsmoke, Wagon Train ect... The stories are cohesive with a beginning middle and ending. But the players talking and reminiscing about Themselves is great stuff.
I never expected you to go there, Rob, but it was very interesting to hear Audrey's comments on firearms handling on the set. I fear that sense of absolute safety & security will no longer exist for actors, or crew. Wonderful interview!
Greetings from the West of Ireland. Thank you for the terrific interview with Audrey Dalton. There were a few other Irish actors who made their mark in Westerns including Maureen O’Hara, Sean McClory, Stephen Boyd and Maureen O’Sullivan. Rob, I really enjoy your interviews.
Catching up with this one! What a great person to interview, she made some great films! Mr. Sardonicus is a classic too, I need to see The Bounty Killer, loved Dan Duryea and interesting to see the old Western stars. No mention of Drum Beat, a Delmer Daves, Western though...
Thanks, Robert. DRUM BEAT gets its own AWOW episode with Audrey. I saw it on first release in the theaters. Seems like you still have some catching up to do. Enjoy!

It's great that you are able to start gathering some new interviews! I'm sure that we are ALL enjoying the older material, especially since much of it has been expanded, but this is really good stuff. Although I don't think I ever knew her name before, I definitely have seen some of her work through the years, and your interview brought out some very interesting information. Thanks once again, Rob, and best wishes for more gold to come!
Rob I’m not sure if you filmed this interview on a set or in your living room but the interview felt so relaxed it felt as though it was in your living room. Your appreciation and admiration for your guests comes through in every interview.
As a Titanic historian and author of two books on Titanic (Amazon), I first became aware of Audrey Dalton in her 1953 adaptation of TITANIC with Barbara Stanwyck (Big Valley) who was discovered by an actual Titanic survivor, Renee Harris, whose husband owned the Hudson Theater on Times Square in New York City. Renee (who also discovered playwright Moss Hart) is responsible for changing Ruby Stevens name to Barbara Stanwyck. Many of the Titanic survivors attended the premiere of Audrey's film, including a woman named Anna Sofia Turja, who had been 18 when the ship sank. She thought the film was so realistic that she asked her family, "If they had film cameras there, why didn't they rescue us?" Anyway, so watching Audrey and Robert Wagner in Titanic, I thought how very much they were like "Rose" and "Jack" in James Cameron's film and wondered how much was borrowed from the 1953 film---Wagner at that age even looked a lot like Leo DiCaprio. I followed Audrey's career afterwards, and she is always enjoyable to watch. I learned a few things about her I didn't know. This was a delightful interview, Rob. Thanks for your dedication.
What a sweetheart, very classy lady. I tend to think the reason there really weren't as many gun accidents is the people involved back then were really cowboys and ranchers who happened to become actors. Others were veterans of WWII or Korea and knew what gun safety was really about. I suspect that most of the current crop of young and some middle aged actors really don't appreciate what they have in their hand and how dangerous it can be.
First let me say that the fact that you and Audrey did this interview this year, in person, there was a different energy between you that just made the interview better. That's not to say the skype interviews were not good, just that I enjoyed this one's energy more. Second even before you mentioned the bronze of Ben Johnson, I was thinking what a great piece that cowboy sitting on his horse is. I've seen that pose many times in real life, and thought man I wish I had that as a part of my collection, if I could afford it. Finding out whom the bronze portrayed makes it even more desirable. As always this was a great episode. I really enjoyed your interview with Audrey Dalton. Her recollections are vivid, and her involvement in so many productions gives her insights great weight. I'm looking forward to part two.
Audrey was one of those actresses that was on nearly all the Western TV classics and I have no trouble remembering her in all the roles you discussed. It's funny how she was trained in Europe and yet ended up in so many Westerns which I'm glad she did because I think she's more of an iconic character than she realizes. I had a brief encounter and conversation with another famous Irishman, Carroll O'Connor who talked of growing up in Dublin. I will be looking forward to part 2 if I understand it right. Thanks Rob.
