When you look at this, seems to me that Guts must get another power up (if he is to defeat somehow the Hand of God or at least Femto... maybe is not necesary that to happen). But if the case, our main character should get powers from astral plane. He is currently with Flowerstorm King, what are the odds that in this particular place there is something for Guts, apart from healing Casca's mind?
By the way, let's think about the things and issues i think there are needed to happen in manga (*more spoilers*): -Casca getting back to normal (in 2017, after almost 20 years!). If that happens, is she gonna be relevant to the journey? is she going to stay along Guts? she can swing a sword after all this time? Does she really fears Guts? - Leaving island, go back to kingdom - About what happened with Rickert on kushan's village - The purpose of new Griffith's kingdom - The story of Hand of God members, if Myura wants to tell us - A final battle between Zod and Guts (now with berserker armor) - Skullknight's past and rivalry with Void And a long list of other stuff i cannot remember well. It is hinted and heavily implied that the reason skull knight lost his humanity is via the Berserker armor... I would imagine, that the berserker armor will do the same thing... Literally, slowly draining the humanity out of guts. I imagine by the end of the series guts will become the monsters that he so despises. It would be poetic, if guts himself turns into a monster.
This was movie filler to make Guts looks cool. Even BlackSwordman Guts with his hand cannon couldn’t even dream to touch Femto. In fact in the manga even coming close to Femto is impossible for Guts due the brand.

Like if his father wasn't human and that's why he's so abnormally strong, or if there's a connection between him and Zodd. Or maybe Guts is just that badass.
***** There's a theory that both Skull Knight and Zodd are 2 past iterations of Guts, Skull Knight being the path of the Berserker armor, Zodd being the path of using the behelit, and current Guts being the third path, choosing to keep his humanity *well so far*
I do like how this scene makes Guts a little bit closer to getting to Griffith as compared to the anime. I could almost forgive Griffith for taking the power bestowed by the God Hand due to his weakened condition as a human and knowing that he probably wouldn't be able to achieve anything as human anymore. Nonetheless, I can never forgive him for raping innocent Casca just because she decided to love Guts after she knew Griffith never would for her and using her to get his own vengeance out on Guts. I know Guts left Griffith at a time that was not convenient for him, but he clearly blamed Guts for the mistakes he made when they were really his own doing.

I never get tired of Ubiks reaction to Guts actually managing to force his way forward. I like to think that in all the years the Godhand have existed, seeing someone able to actually resist against "fate" is a surprise.
I remember the first time I read the earlier chapters of Berserk, I didn't know why Gutts was such an asshole character and why he hated Griffith so much. Oh boy, as I read on and read the Golden Age Chapter and the Great Eclipse and that part when Gutts was remembering all of his fallen friends. I understood. And I'm glad the anime makers are not rushing Berserk and making fillers. Berserk is truly an story like no other.
I already watched it, the new anime is butchering the Manga storyline, the same way as the Game of Thrones Show is butchering the storyline of the books.
I'm sorry, but the moment when Guts is able to inch his broken sword forwards whilst being paralyzed by a GOD using nothing but sheer rage and willpower alone is one of the most badass things I've ever seen in Berserk. Even Ubik and Slan are shocked by this.
Only problem is that Griffith/Femto can't be harmed by mortal weapons. So when Guts does get to face him again you gotta wonder what he's gonna do? Also makes you wonder why Griffith even needs Zodd as a bodyguard?
I see a lot of people talking about how Guts penetrates Griffith's shield and say how they are amazed how strong Griffith is now that he is a demon. More amazed by Guts, born from a corpse hanging from a tree, i think that was a sort of sign he would be unique. Skullknight himself says: I knew someone like you would appear eventually. "Someone like you" Guts is unique, special. Proven when he almost pushes Gaston's blade through Femto's eye. The berserker armor and Dragonslayer are fitting for guts, even though it slowly destroys him... Guess that's how Gaiseric became the Skullknight (if i remember correctly from the manga.) I really hope they will bring an ending to Berserk one day soon. Wanna see what will happen, will Guts be able to kill Femto in this state or will he slowly change into something different like Gaiseric did in order to kill Femto? maybe Guts will die.. maybe some kind of redemption? can only guess...

Whether you like the movies or the amazing anime before it, can we agree the Golden Age Arc films just blew this scene out of the water? Not just the arm, but the entirety of the eclipse. Everything from sound, design, style, monsters, and voice acting. I suppose the first anime is deserved much due credit as you can see, like the manga, it set the stage for the design of the eclipse, but man, the movie really compounded the look and feel. All are great however, I just love the arm-severing scene in this version the most.
I love the fact they added guts being able to push through femto’s force field with just pure rage. The amount of pain he must of felt from breaking the bones in his knuckles

SPOILER ALERT lol the scene after this casca and guts are saved by the skeleton horse rider and go back to the real world and when they wake up gus tried to hug her but she has no memory of anything not even language, acting like a baby, she even gets scared of guts. she stays like that for the rest of the manga (this is only the beginning) its so heartbreaking i have to stop myself from thinking about it poor guts man

Before I had ever heard of Berserk, I saw this scene and immediately wanted to know what drove this man "mad" to be able to sever his own arm. It was because of this scene that got me started on the series. This manga is now my favorite manga. Amazing plot.
I don't think I've seen a more distilled expression of rage than here. You think a writer is doing a good job conveying it by showing how much pain a character will inflict on another... Until you see how much damage a character will do to himself, and ignore the pain as if it's a mere bug bite, for the mere chance to touch a blade to his enemy's skin.

Idk if I'm broken inside, but I actually like this scene a lot, him tearing his arm apart like nothing to save the girl, but there's one thing that keeps me away from watching this clip one time every 3-4 months... I can't stand the rape, it hurts so much I can feel the pain of Guts, and knowing how Casca ends up after this, hers too.

I remember the first time I read the earlier chapters of Berserk, I didn't know why Gutts was such an asshole character and why he hated Griffith so much.
Oh boy, as I read on and read the Golden Age Chapter and the Great Eclipse and that part when Gutts was remembering all of his fallen friends. I understood. And I'm glad the anime makers are not rushing Berserk and making fillers.
Berserk is truly an story like no other.

I see a lot of people talking about how Guts penetrates Griffith's shield and say how they are amazed how strong Griffith is now that he is a demon. More amazed by Guts, born from a corpse hanging from a tree, i think that was a sort of sign he would be unique. Skullknight himself says: I knew someone like you would appear eventually. "Someone like you" Guts is unique, special. Proven when he almost pushes Gaston's blade through Femto's eye. The berserker armor and Dragonslayer are fitting for guts, even though it slowly destroys him... Guess that's how Gaiseric became the Skullknight (if i remember correctly from the manga.) I really hope they will bring an ending to Berserk one day soon. Wanna see what will happen, will Guts be able to kill Femto in this state or will he slowly change into something different like Gaiseric did in order to kill Femto? maybe Guts will die.. maybe some kind of redemption? can only guess...

Whether you like the movies or the amazing anime before it, can we agree the Golden Age Arc films just blew this scene out of the water?
Not just the arm, but the entirety of the eclipse. Everything from sound, design, style, monsters, and voice acting. I suppose the first anime is deserved much due credit as you can see, like the manga, it set the stage for the design of the eclipse, but man, the movie really compounded the look and feel.
All are great however, I just love the arm-severing scene in this version the most.

I love the fact they added guts being able to push through femto’s force field with just pure rage. The amount of pain he must of felt from breaking the bones in his knuckles

Before I had ever heard of Berserk, I saw this scene and immediately wanted to know what drove this man "mad" to be able to sever his own arm. It was because of this scene that got me started on the series. This manga is now my favorite manga. Amazing plot.

You think a writer is doing a good job conveying it by showing how much pain a character will inflict on another... Until you see how much damage a character will do to himself, and ignore the pain as if it's a mere bug bite, for the mere chance to touch a blade to his enemy's skin.
