Honestly if it’s quality parts without discount codes and sales that could be 9k wasted. 2k for an exhaust (another 500 if a shop installed), 2k for wheels and tires, 1k for the head/tails, 750 for the tune, 500 for an intake, 1k for coilovers(another 500 if a shop installed), 500 for the aero parts, I’m sure it’s not hard to waste another 250 on interior bits …
7:34 I think he did engine work. Either a refresh or whole new engine. Not sure what year that car is but he seems like the type that if he was going to fully custom he would buy a car with an engine in bad shape knowing he would swap it out anyways.
Modifying a classic car requires a lot of little repairs stacking up over the whole build. You want to put coilovers on, but you need to fix every piece of worn out suspension, and while its off you might as well paint everything and replace some small pieces like brake dust covers and maybe throw some wheel bearings at it just because... And then you get to body and interior, and usually a good bit of rust correction. The interviewer does occasionally say "what did you spend on this car" which some would interpret that as "How much did you pay for the car when you bought it"
Definitely could spend 60k over the course of 9 years restoring & then upgrading that 260z, he probably spent 10-15k labor & materials for the metal work alone
I own a 23 civic si and I’ve spent about 6k in just performance mods. He didn’t list the prl intercooler, and if he’s just done the intake, tune and exhaust, then it’s 2k at most, excluding the intercooler. 9k is fbo, flex fuel, big turbo and upgraded internals money not including labor if you’re a princess
The Mugen kit is an easy $5k. RPF1’s with tires are about $2k. I take and exhaust should easily make up the rest. That’s not including color matching. How can you say someone e is cap without the bare minimum of checking to see how much his mods are worth. Or is this a “let’s be a dick” type of video. As for the Ferrari, you think an exhaust should cost the same amount as a Honda Civic? Price any other exhaust for that model and see what you get? And fyi, I’ve priced that same exhaust and I got $11k to $13k. And that doesn’t include the cat. What type of metal? What options did he get with it. And what’s wrong with stock wheels? Not everyone’s first mod is gonna be the same as yours. My point is that you’re right in that people in the automotive community lie on how much they spent but it also depends on the person. The first two guys do t seem like the type to have to lie. Who are they impressing? And in the age of instant fact check you can easily find out. Context is everything. If he said he got his body kit off of eBay for $9k then yes that sounds suspect. But if he has a genuine Mugen kit and those who know what it’s worth would say yes that makes sense. And if you have a brand new Ferrari in which every mod is expensive then you can say yes, that makes sense. It might e been $14k when he got it and the price has come down since then. And then to roast him for having stock wheel is just being a dick. IMO this could’ve been done better by actually getting videos of guys that are cappin’ and still be respectful about it. But the internet in this day and age doesn’t know what respect means. But hey, good luck. 👍🏾

Other than that it’s fbo , big turbo, fmic, ewg, headers ,suspension, chassis stiffening, forged wheels, cosmetics exterior and interior, stereo system, reliability upgrades and multiple tunes along the way. It’s stupid money but it is what it is.

I think Drew is forgetting to take into account that these mf’s are regular Affirm consumers, they probably are spending this much after paying for all that interest 😂😂
On the 300ZX, i can believe 30K. He did say that he had to whole body reworked, plus the bodykit parts and the wheels. All around tho, super clean build!
Early Z cars = 240z (2.4 liter motor) 260z (2.6 liter motor) 280z (2.8 liter motor). There were many more changes but the name comes from the displacement.
Knuckles Drew its Knuckles ! Who the f*** Kumba ? And a 260 is the same as a 280sx or 180sx ! Had different number names for the car in different countries !
Uh, what? How does this comment have any likes at all? A 240z came first, and has a 2.4L engine, 260z came next with a 2.6L, and the 280Z was the final S30 with a 2.8L engine. There is no 280sx and the 180sx is on the S13 chassis, a completely different car. I mean, at least you got Knuckles right, but you should stop spreading misinformation about cars.
It does add up faster than people realize. My Jeep has over $20k and it is on stock wheels. My '20 Mustang had like $6k and it was...pretty stock. A few little $500 mods plus a set of wheels and tires puts you there real fast.
PPF is definitely an upgrade, not a performance one, but it protects your car from the elements, Scratches, rock chips, etc.Which I would consider an upgrade as you're protecting your car's exterior

I have a Mustang GT, and a Nissan Juke.. But I have to say 9K isn't hard to get too.. I have spent a 1000 over a 6 year period just on Amsoil CVT Fluid. I have about 7K into my Juke.... $5k for the PPF doesnt sound nuts. A wrap is typically $2500-4k. PPF is ordinarily more pricey. Then count in the fact the Cybertruck is huge, thats a lot of material.

"tune, intake and exhaust" "downpipe.. push some real power" LOL
also don't know why these rich clowns waste money on intakes
As a 17 Focus RS owner Drew, you should get one. SO much fun to drive.
I agree the Focus RS is such a nice car, personally I've been really into 4 doors lately more then coupes.
Can’t wait to see the new corvette Drew 👀
If you think the 300ZX owner is capping wait till you find out how much of a baller you have to be to run a Mission front bumper LOOL. Clean build
Bar is 1500 that ain't baller😂
@@rashone8801 Cost more than your entire shitbox so what now?
@@ScirolloThey’re $1300 plus shipping, dude. That’s not really anything. If baller to you is a $1300 bumper that says more about you than the other guy. Don’t get pissed at him because that’s a lot of money to you.
@@GMbowtie350 How much do you think shipping is? My Blitz Japan bumper for my 86 was $1500 plus $1800 shipping, over $3K for an authentic jdm bumper. My wheels cost more than your truck, not pissed at all.
@@Scirollo you got ripped off on that bumper bud
12:11 he is probably including restoration. That looks like it is a 1970’s car or early 80’s at the latest
It’s 70s.
Drew's new Prog Rock band: The 10 Thousand Gumball Incident
$60K on the Datsun is easily possible. If he did a complete disassemble and repaint of all surfaces he’s dropping 15-25k on that alone.
None of these were good investments, but I really enjoyed seeing these projects and I respect the guys making these fun and interesting cars.
Cars aren’t investments
Drew looked up the cat back muffler for the f8. Exhaust starts at the manifolds back.
These are one of my favorite style videos
Found a stage 3 novitec exhaust for 19k from novitec... its doable.. the exhaust u found for the f8 was a factory replacement.. great videos tho
Nah koomba is crazy drew 😭😭
Z32s are not as cheap to mod as one would think. At least they werent 15 years ago. My exhaust was like 1k$ (in 2006) turbo kit with 60mm garretts (z1 maybe?) Was like 4500$. Injectors and pump (nismo 740cc and walbro 255lph) were over a grand. If he has that kit, the JDM panels and lights, and its painted and not wrapped- 30k is probably close
The Knuckles Camaro 2ss was clean! I wouldn't do that to my car, but it did look nice!
Hey Drew, been watching your videos for a while now... I'm looking to buy my first "supercar"/sportscar and I genuinely would like to know your opinion on the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster? You have a vast knowledge of vehicles just like to know your take on that car specifically..?
You know what you cant build? ….burnt supra😂
U not knowing who knuckles was is worse than lying about how much ur mods cost 😂
I’ve spent about 40k on modding my 21 sti, now about 6k of that was on labor for work I didn’t have the time and space to do at the time, another 3k of that was trying out different exhaust until I found the one I loved. Other than that it’s fbo , big turbo, fmic, ewg, headers ,suspension, chassis stiffening, forged wheels, cosmetics exterior and interior, stereo system, reliability upgrades and multiple tunes along the way. It’s stupid money but it is what it is.
I think I spent around 15-20k on mine. $3000 for my Volks, $2000 coils, $2500 Recaro Japan seats, $1000 Cusco parts, $1000 on Verus aero, $4000-5000 on stock location turbo upgrade, killer b headers and all supporting mods, $2000 on all the Whiteline, group n, Cusco, and Perrin bushings and mounts.
turtle destroyer earned my sub no cap
I think Drew is forgetting to take into account that these mf’s are regular Affirm consumers, they probably are spending this much after paying for all that interest 😂😂
Knuckles is in my car club. Definitely $8k. Cool guy!
On the 300ZX, i can believe 30K. He did say that he had to whole body reworked, plus the bodykit parts and the wheels. All around tho, super clean build!
First guy got that F1 intake and exhaust on his civic. So jealous rn. 😅
You were at a car meet I was at recently , I was hoping you'd review my lancer evo 8 🤣
Early Z cars = 240z (2.4 liter motor) 260z (2.6 liter motor) 280z (2.8 liter motor). There were many more changes but the name comes from the displacement.
BROOOOOO THE HOOD ALIGNMENT ON THAT BLUE HONDA
Knuckles Drew its Knuckles ! Who the f*** Kumba ? And a 260 is the same as a 280sx or 180sx ! Had different number names for the car in different countries !
180SX is an S13 lmfao
Are you sure about the 260z? 😅
Do a quick search on the difference
Kumba 😂
Learn your shit and don't pull stuff out of your ass, you have access to a search engine USE IT!!!
koomba is crazy😭🙏
It does add up faster than people realize. My Jeep has over $20k and it is on stock wheels. My '20 Mustang had like $6k and it was...pretty stock. A few little $500 mods plus a set of wheels and tires puts you there real fast.
The LED SS $8,000 was mostly spent on the sound system for sure, and probably the butterfly doors
PPF is definitely an upgrade, not a performance one, but it protects your car from the elements, Scratches, rock chips, etc.Which I would consider an upgrade as you're protecting your car's exterior
most of these are from Orlando, Lake Nona Cars and Coffee at Drive Shack i live near there
10:00 kunga 😂
From the adventures of Sonig.
😎
in Australia it's about 1k for a dyno tune
In Canada it’s about the same
280z guy said “to be doing this again it would be 60k” which could be including the car.
Right
I had 10k into my civic. And it wasn’t even really built.
You missed the turbo intercooler upgrade. Assuming he upgraded his charge pipes aswell.
A shifter for that car cost like 800 with all of the bushings. Upgraded Engine mounts cost about 900.
There’s tons I could mention.
Koomba is crazy lmfaoooo
20k or not, ten grand is crazy for exhaust. I also believe the 300zx guy. Filly reworking and show quality paint job is is 10-15 alone
I have a Mustang GT, and a Nissan Juke.. But I have to say 9K isn't hard to get too.. I have spent a 1000 over a 6 year period just on Amsoil CVT Fluid. I have about 7K into my Juke.... Wheels and tires can be around $3000/$4000, just for wheels and tires and that is before you get to exhaust's, Turbo's and Blowers...
“ I can think of 10,000 better ways to spend $10,000. One of them is just buying a dollar gumball 10,000 times. I would rather have 10,000 gum-balls then have this Honda Civic”😂😂😂 I’m fucking rolling😂
He probably did spend nine thousand dollars on that civic... Whoever did upgrades, definitely made like eight thousand dollars that day... I'd overcharge him too
A good car wrap cost 6-7k$ in Norway, and my wheels cost like 5 000$ 3sdm 0.04, and Bc racing coilovers did cost me like 1600$. So I m about 13k$ in my car. Welcome to Norway 😵💫
Drew I run a ford store and I remember when the Focus RS came out we were getting 5k over and during the height of the used car boom they were still selling at sticker or over. Prices are still high on those but it’s a great car and would be cool if you ever got one for the channel built right tho 😂
@drewpeacock On the F8 25k is close to on point with a full exhaust w/ down pipes and tune which is required to run aftermarket exhaust on that car.
Ican see 30k in mods on the Z. That black paint was straight as an arrow. Paint plus jdm upgrades can reach 15-20k. Rims another 6k and then all the other shit. If the motor is done up also....definitely 30k. Car was sick af!!!
What's up with that hood gap on the civic tho
$5k for the PPF doesnt sound nuts. A wrap is typically $2500-4k. PPF is ordinarily more pricey. Then count in the fact the Cybertruck is huge, thats a lot of material.
Drew is definitely getting a corvette
the ferrari f8 novitech exhaust fully optioned out is 19k before taxes and shipping lol.
On the zx it might be close to 30k lile he said i reckon, he said the whole body was redone and a proper doors off respray plus if theres any rust repairs as well can get pretty up there in price and bodykits from reputable brands can be some of the most expensive bits of fibreglass ya can buy so hes probably not far off. If it was a full rotisserie reapray 30k easy.
