Lawrence you’ve not only surpassed yourself in completing your 1st ultra gravel endurance race and finishing 5th, but also the film of the event you also managed to produce. Absolutely fantastic film thank you for making the effort to film while you were going through the brutality and hell of the Badlands.
Watching this coming off the back of seeing Fernwee and the ride beyond boys really makes me appreciate your level of fitness and strength. I know they are already way beyond anything I'm capable of, and they looked to find this ride ridiculous, bordering Impossible, yet you smashed it along with producing this masterpeice of cinema. Amazing work.
Sign of a great cycling film… Does it make you want to go cycling? Absolutely! Great film. Makes me want to get a gravel bike and go to Southern Spain.
As a fellow cycling content creator, I know how challenging it is to concentrate on making a video when you’re tired and sore. But, to capture this, and to actually have had enough focus to film story + b-roll over 75hrs is INSANE. It’s enough to complete this event, but to film it is next level. Well played mate, well flippen played 👏
Hey Grant, thank you very much for the kind words. You are absolutely right it took quite some effort, and things I wished I had filmed more of looking back - but ultimately very pleased. ☺️🤟🏽
That’s always going to be the way though isn’t it, you’ve just got to note those things down and apply them as learning to the next one 👌🏻 Well done again mate!
That’s got to be one of your best ever vlogs! A combination of the scenery, the light, the cinematography and the effort to complete a gruelling event. Superb effort. Chapeau.
You guys smashed it and the most amazing part is you captured the entire race from hand held video and your drone coverage was awesome !! Thanks for taking the rest of the world along with you on your adventures, where are we going next ??? Always looking forward to your adventures with your mates !!
Hell of a ride, Hell of journey, Hell of a country - captures the romance of ultra riding, big skies, nature unsurpassed (both brutal and beautiful in equal measure) and a unique camaraderie. Epic film that just lures you into the wonderful world of gravel riding. Thanks Guys!
Oh my goodness. Well done, sairs. Such a far distance. Such beautiful but hostile country. Just amazing. I know I get to watch these for free, and it's your art, but I'd like the music and your voices to be about the same volume. I found myself turning the volume wayyy up and down going from one to the other. I was confused when you said you were riding Badlands, because I only knew of Badlands in North Dakota, USA. This ride was super epic though. Amazing countryside. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Lawrence, for producing such a great film of the event, I loved it - Total respect to you and Liam for managing to get 5th pair while getting the footage for this film! The event looks really hard but also really beautiful, well done!
Absolutely brilliant effort from you and Liam, great video, amazing to think that you managed to film all this whilst biking that amount of Km’s, so much respect 👏🏻
Brutal, I wanna get a gravel bike but managed to get my full sus down to 10kg with gravel tyres. Feels like suspension minimises risk for flats a bit and a bit comfier for those rough sections. Looks like you guys managed ok though or you reckon a bit of suspension will gain more traction in gravel world?
Lawrence seen a lot of your films from USA to Vietnam but badlands surpasses the others what a great effort with both the filming and the distance covered on the bike👍
A big thank for you sharing this video! I'm hoping to get place on next years event and this was by far the most insightful video yet. Was amazed to see how light your set up was. Definitely inspired me to explore a lighter option.
Espectacular. Gracias por compartirlo. Espero poder participar alguna vez en un evento así. De momento ver documentales como el tuyo es suficiente. Gracias!!!!
Outstanding effort on both the cycling front and the video footage. Great editing. Well done. One point of note is that having done Badlands 2021 I can tell you that the 100km loop in the northern part of the ride was there last year too. This was the second year they ran it. Again, congratulations.
Hi Lawrence .Congratulations for the performance.I meet you this year in Traka 360 ,you did with me son Pierre .please let me know how miles you did to prepare badlands ,what finally the tires you select and section .What the weight of your luggage. How you manage the night ,how you sleep .I would to prepare myself for next departure.Hope you take some rest .Hope to see you again .For more fun try to check Tuscany trail next year ,I ll do
If you want to walk faster/easier on pavement uphill long slopes: wear two pairs of socks. Get rid of the shoe ☺️ and pull the inlay out. One sock stays on your foot, the insole is held in place by the other sock. Voila: easy going. ( This helped me up the Timmelsjoch after an overeagerly attempt to beat myself. I actually passed a lot of "Riders". 🤣 )
Great video and love the footage! I was wondering if you could give some advice around tyres for Badlands? 🤞 I did the Traka 360 a few weeks ago on 40mm - 700c which rolled great and wanted to know if you thought it’s worth/needed to go wider or even bigger to 2.1 x 650b size? Thanks in advance!

Agree, inspiring, honest and looks brutal. Must have been such an achievement and probably taken a few days for that to sink in.
