Nice! My parents were both born in the 60s but I was born in 2004. They didn't really introduce this music to me, more like I just found it myself during covid lockdowns and loved it ever since 😁
Yes Kristen..I can relate to your position...in 1967 I was 16...the teens of that time that were music lovers had a Tremendous Selection Of Great Songs And Genres Back From 63-69. My daughter was born in 1983 and you can be sure that I introduced her to these lovable winning tunes from an early age...I still can recall her singing "Bang Bang" by Sonny & Cher. Great Tunes Here. Thanks.
1967 what a wonderful year for pop soul and rock music. Something for the whole family on the top 100 My favorites are Petula Clark, the Grass Roots RIP Rob Grill, the fabulous 5Th Dimension the Super Supremes, the Buckingham's Paul Revere and the Raiders with Mark Lindsay , the Strawberry Alarm Clock. 😊
1967 was the year The local jukebox guy started giving me 45 rpm records. After 200 plays they would typically replace the record. My dad owned a bar so I got to hear a lot of this music..on a real juke box. There were two records that constantly got replaced. Gimme some lovin' and You've lost that loving feeling. When my dad sold the bar in '73 those two songs still had high "play counts". Those tunes by the Rascals and the Stones weren't far behind. I ended up with a few scratchy copies of Gimme some lovin'. Still love it.
Well done for putting USA in the title. I watch a lot of these hits of the year ...? and some songs I don't know as they were not hits in the UK. Great music.

To this music you realize how cutting-edge in advance these musicians really worth considering the times! It was such a magical time because people were really opening up and questioning the status quo! I wish we would have progressed further than we have.

the song was also a movie with the same title as the song in America with one of the greatest actors Sidney Poitier among others including LuLu who sang the song in the movie. If your ever inclined to see a classic this is one worth the time. Then I think you'll discover why. My older sister had the single in her high school years and on weekends when she was dating I would seek into her room and play all her music.
I was in diapers, bit I remember being blown away by the young rascals, "how can I be sure?", The melody, the accordion, the profundity of the lyrics. Thanks for putting these compilation snippets together.
Yea, I was there, too. Hell of a party. The fireworks were awesome! But some people got a little careless handling them which is why I couldn't stay for the whole party.
I can't believe how insanely beautiful of a singer Tammi Terrell was. The classic duet Tammi sang with Marvin Gaye "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" will forever be one of my all time favorite songs. I'm trying to know more about her music career as a fan.
@@juanitaldiggs The title of that song was Your Precious Love by the great duet Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. My favorite song from 1967 which was one of my favorite years for music. It was Canada's centennial year and the last year Toronto won the Stanley Cup.
Just like all the other years,so many great songs came out in '67! I'm surprised there's only one song of The Doors on here! A good while back I watched a documentary about the Cowsills. It was excellent & ended very sadly.
They were very good, yes, also for some songs not played in that video , as 'A little bit me...', 'She', 'The girl I knew somewhere', 'Sweet young thing' , 'Saturday's child', 'Words', 'Pleasant valley Sunday', that they played in 1967 or even before, in the end of 1966, I believe. And they still did even very good songs afterwards, but I won't cite them all...

Francis, I love this video. If you don't mind my saying, there is one song that I wish that you had included. I so wished that you had included "To Love Somebody" by The Bee Gees. I know there was a reason it wasn't, but I think that is the definitive version of the song. I know you have Nina Simone's version in another video, and Michael Bolton's version in yet another. Both are great versions. I know there was a reason for not having it, and I do understand that.
5:15 Jefferson Airplane - Somebody To Love 5:43 Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth. Weak performance, but unusual music. The fashion for this will come in the mid-90s, they performed it back in 1967 a quarter of a century earlier. 11:37 I'm a Believer - The Monkees
It's sad that the 5th Dimension are almost forgotten now; hearing "Up, Up and Away" recently for the first time in decades really put a smile on my face.
But for those of us who still have 45's, 33 1/3rds and cassettes and maybe an 8 Track or Reel-to-Reel, groups like these will always be remembered! And surprisingly, many young people now are actually rediscovering our musical treasured youth experience, so all is not forgotten yet! Because of my parents influence and my brother and sister enjoying some music 🎵 which I had never considered, I just listened to so many cultures from around the globe! More good music in one year than in the last 20.
It amazes me that while "To Sir With Love" by Lulu was a huge hit here in the United States, it didn't chart in the UK. True story.
In the UK it was the B side to the top 10 hit Let's Pretend
I recall Lulu having a TV show in the UK, in 1968.

When I was 12 a song came out by Ricky Nelson it was "I said hello Mary Lou" I loved it. I got interested in radio. That was 1960 I think.
