My son Andrew's first ride on this train when he was 4 years old and he just turned 43 and my 15 year old grandaughters ride it with him now. It's seems to get in better condition every year, thanks to retired UPRR employee volunteers who care for and operate it. You do want to get out and push on the uphill though.
@@c7042 Nice! Yeah I've heard from Henry Morris Jr when he was around that the Omaha zoo railroad is more like a steam operated roller coaster and I can see why
This is one of THE best zoo railroads anywhere! I only wish they’d replace that piercing teapot whistle on the other locomotive. So glad the Crown is still operating. What a beautiful locomotive and that whistle is gorgeous! Please, keep those trains running.
@@jeffreymcconnell6794 Yup, the only reason "Riva" has the so called scream whistle is because it's what the locomotive had when it rolled outta the factory and when it arrived but that's why I like 119's Nathan 6 Chime better
Fantastic video! So many great angles, I really loved the vantage point you had at 7:47 up on the hill. That engine has some serious stack talk! Great work!
Thanks! It would have been nice if the zoo still had access to promontory hill where the train does it's blow down but unfortunately it's no longer accessible but back then it was.
Yeah, back from when I was a lot younger the track layout has definitely changed a lot because of the expansions that have happened, unfortunately there are some shots you can no longer capture of the train, 1 being the location of the blow down and 2 where the wye used to be
@CatapultVideos Thanks for the comment! If i had to choose my favorite locomotive from the zoo it would be 119 because of its style and it's Nathan 6 Chime whistle
@CatapultVideos that engine can barely pull three cars on the hills and I haven't seen them run it. Last I've heard is it was used for track maintenance when the steam locomotives aren't running
@@billgrierson840 yeah, the whistle was overhauled not to long ago, they also changed the whistle cord in the cab so the crews would have to pull down a little differently to fully sound the whistle but it's better than nothing
The is a 30 inch gauge railroad going fully around the zoo, the 119 was manufactured by the Crown Medal Products in Wyano, Pennsylvania and was delivered in 1968. Crown Medal Products went out of Business in 1989.

It's struggling to pull the train @@UnionPacificTrainMan1988
@@UnionPacificTrainMan1988 agreed! It fits 119 so well, although I liked its Star Brass 5 chime whistle from 2022.
Great to hear Rizzoli’s work being put to good use with that Nathan 6 Chime.

The Nathan chime 6 whistle vibrates when it blown and the bell when it rings it is a continuous sound
Im glad to live in the state with the best zoo in the world
Excellent shot. Like
3:50 Uh Oh the wigwag is broken
That's six chimewhistle is broken
The 6 chime whistle was restored not to long ago so there might be a leaky pipe somewhere in there
wow, the track layout looks so different now, wonder whats happened, must be the new exhibit they are opening.

Today was at the zoo and they had the 119 running
Nice! They are gonna have 119 running on the week days and 104 (Riva) running on the weekends
The Bell is more likely to be staying like nothing but only the ringer is hitting the Bell this is what Union Pacific steam locomotive bells be like:
That's an awesome video.
Thank you!
Sound like a valve adjustment would be in order. The timing sounds off.
