I consider myself in an eternal state of grace having seen her play 2011 in Dresden and score this unforgetable header against Brasil. The tournament ended in a heartbreak. But four years later the core of the team won it all, so Hollywood ending for everyone who loves soccer.
I remember leaving BC Place after the 2015 World Cup. We ran into Abby's mom and dad. I told them to let her know we were happy she finally won the world cup.
She is a great soccer player, but mostly knew where to be to get the best head ball. No doubt she knew how to head a soccer ball, but her overall skills were not among the best to ever play. Compared to the MOST well rounded players who were/are incredibly fit, versatile, finessed, skilled, and memorable, they are many well beyond her abilities. Look at Hamm, Akers, Fouty, Sauerbrunn, Ertz, Lloyd, Rapinoe, and many I am unintentionally overlooking. I am certainly appreciative of her contribution to women’s soccer, but simply believe others were better players. Should she be acknowledged, YES, but is she among the top 15 US players, NO.
Shes so awesome

Diving headers have been around for 100 years. What a joke
They may have been around for 100 years, but Wambach has scored more internationally than any other player, man or woman.
