Hello Federico, thanks for the honesty... as a beginner, I totally understand your explanation... sometimes we have to pay to the market (with losses), to understand that this is a “percentage game”. XD

If a person has studied for two months (Nov and Dec 2018) and in December 2018 paper-trade for one month
and at the beginning of the third month (January 2019) he has $10,000 USD to trade,
and he only wants to trade EUR/GBP because if Britain leaves the EU, the Euro will decrease as a reserve currency,
how much can he make by April 30th, 2019?
In your Udemy course, "Forex Trading: Your Complete Guide to Get Started as a Pro"
I do not see how a first trade can be Sell EUR/GBP. I only see long trades.
Do you have a lesson somewhere on how to short or sell a currency?
One cannot by GBP/EUR because that is not a currency pair. Maybe it could possibly become a pair after Brexit.
    Thank you.

      Hi there,
I think it is reasonable to think to start after 2 months of studying and practicing, especially if you have followed the course and you already have a strategy (which I seem to understand is based on fundamental analysis).
In the example in my course, I buy the currency pair, but you can notice that there are many other examples where I sell a currency pair. It is very easy. If you use OANDA, you have "buy and sell" on the web platform, so you just need to click on sell and set up your position.
If you use the MetaTrader, right click , trading and then "new order". You can also press F9. At that point, you can see that you have two options: sell by market and buy by market.
No need to have GBP/EUR, you can sell EUR/GBP :)
      Hope it is clear.
      Federico
PS: regarding how much, it really depends on the risk that you want to have, the amount of lot you intend to open, the time horizon for your trade... it's really hard to say. Also, consider that, at the moment, EUR/GBP is a currency pair that is usually between 0.87 and 0.90 with no big movements.
A very quick example. Consider that you go short at 0.90, using the entire $10,000 to open a position for a value of $100,000. The price goes down and you take your profits after one year at 0.80. Your profit will be around $12,800.

How far can I set my expiration?
I was thinking Brexit is so far into the future, my expiration would be something like April 5th, 2019.
Since I'm an equities trader, I know options exist. OANDA does not do FOREX futures options. TD Ameritrade Think or Swim platform has an options chain on Euro futures. So, I'm going to study the puts on that to see how the market has already factored in Brexit on EUR/GBP.
But remember my question: In FOREX Spot trading, you do not like to have expirations over the weekend, but can you set an expiration at three months?

    • @WBFbySteefen
      @WBFbySteefen 6 лет назад

OANDA says the maximum expiration is 3 months. Also, leverage does not equal margin. OANDA told me they may give me 20 times leverage but on a loosing trade there isn't a leverage call like there is a margin call. So, I do not know exactly what FOREX traders are doing and this is after watching your class coming from an equities trader background.
