- St. Thomas More was born into a prominent London family on February 7, 1478.
As a young boy, Thomas attended St. Anthony's School. In 1492, he went off to Oxford University and in 1494 he left to become a lawyer.
He lived near a Carthusian monastery. Thomas found himself called to follow their lifestyle of simple piety.
As a member of Parliament, he often traveled and wrote letters to his four children. He was reputed as an honest and effective leader and wrote many great works, including "Utopia."
Thomas was knighted and made Under-Treasurer of the Exchequer by King Henry VIII in 1521.
He became Lord Chancellor in 1529. During this time, Thomas worked tirelessly to defend the Catholic faith in England.
The relationship between Thomas and King Henry became strained after it became clear Henry was prepared to break away from the Church in Rome.
Thomas offered his resignation. When Anne Boylen's coronation came about, he refused to attend the ceremony.
This greatly offended King Henry, who accused Thomas of accepting bribes and conspiring against him.
Thomas was ordered to take an oath acknowledging Anne Boylen's position as queen, Henry's self-granted annulment from Catherine, and the superior position of the King as the head of the church.
Thomas refused and locked in the Tower of London.
Despite his brilliant defense of himself and persuasive testimony, Thomas was convicted on July 1. As a final act of mercy, King Henry changed his punishment to decapitation.
St. Thomas was killed July 6, 1535. His body was buried in the Chapel of St. Peter ad Vincula at the Tower of London in an unmarked grave.
Thomas More has been widely remembered as a man of tremendous integrity, and he has since been described as a martyr.
St. Thomas More was beatified in 1886 and canonized in 1935.
He is the patron saint of adopted children, lawyers, civil servants, politicians and difficult marriages and his feast day is celebrated on June 22.

My mother just recently passed away and I found out that I am a descendant of Saint Thomas More. I never knew that I was related to someone so incredible. My dream was to become an attorney and this gives me the motivation to follow through with law school.
are you descended from katherine (moore) wyatt / flake? sister of augustine moore?
I am trying to find my mother's moore ancestry and I think katherine is my 10th great aunt
so is katherine (moore) (flake) wyatt the way of how you may be related to thomas?
@@I_Wish_I_Was_Home ill look it all up again and see ok? And then ill figure out what i can for you!
@@rachelwyatt6030 oh cool! wow!
how kind of you! thanks!
I should like best to be descendant from Margaret Pole. Thomas More murdered many innocent people and his head was cut off with just one ax blow. Margaret Pole was a very good humanizing lady and, innocently, her head was cut off after 11 ax blows, from a very inexperienced lad executioner. Anyway, More is canonized and Pole is beatified. REJOYCE, although I am an agnostic so-called "catholic"! Sorry for any tough words - with no offense, please! Best wishes for 2021.

St Thomas More Pray for us
Saint Thomas more, great testimony. Truth tobhis faith. May the Lord have him on his Glory.
I received news about my older brother. He & his son were in a car accident and on April 23rd he’ll be going to a court trial. I hope & pray that everything will go well with the trial and my brother won’t go to jail. I ask Saint Thomas Moore to intercede for my older brother. Amen.
Alan Bourbeau prayerfully your older brother and nephew are alright, I would however implore you pray to Christ rather than a Sir Thomas More. Christ alone is sufficient as the propitiation for our sins before a righteous Godhead.
Jack Jones Asking a saint to intercede for oneself means that Jesus Christ is implored by the saint, so prayer to Christ is automatically implied. If we as Christians can ask each other to pray for us, why can’t we ask the saints to pray for us, the saints being holy men and women of exceptional faith and holiness?
Today 22nd. June 2021 we celebrate the feast of St. Thomas More......St.Thomas More, defender of the Catholic Church and Faith, dying for Christ, ......pray for us! Amen!
Don’t cry, heavens great tbh
Thank you very much!
My son was in saint Thomas more school he loved it.
Happy st more feast❤🎉
It's ironic that a man who has been canonised as the patron saint of lawyers actually hated law. It was not his choice to take up law but his father's. But he became brilliant at it, so maybe he came to like it better.
You know that under all those heavy robes and chancellor's paraphernalia he's wearing a hair shirt? I don't know how he managed it.
My last name is More, so I named my son Thomas; after this great man.
Im crying while im watching this
He's not a saint. He was a salve of the pope
why
Meek not Weak he is a saint because he loved God and his faith above all. “I die the king’s good servant, but God’s first.” stop hating on the pope when the enemy of this story was the king.

Anne Boyleyn wasn't nice to him; he was atrocious to her. NO, he doesn't inspire me!
St.Thomas More was also a person who implemented the early forms of Socialism to the world. So this can be an example for the Christian acceptance of Socialism even up to a certain level.
What are you even smocking dear brother?
@@holyromanemperor420 I am not smocking but seems like socialism has its roots in the Christian dogma. Some thing like humbleness, serving the poor and understanding them, equity and Christian brotherhood ( according to the Biblical teachings) for some extent.
