Absolutely superb, this coming from a lifelong Genesis fan.
It is hard as hell to play it perfectly and gently and sing it so clear like Mr Dunnery is doing here.
I love how He conveys emotions in the song. He shows a different side to a magnificient song. One of my favourites from The Lamb.
Spot on!
All in the 7/8 time signature no less.
Covers are often really painful to listen to, especially when the original is such a powerhouse track, but Mr Dunnery has really pulled it off. Beautiful interpretation !
Wow. Never would have even imagined an acoustic version of this song.
Ok this is good. Genesis fan since 1975 and this is good.
Wonderful Frankie, superb rendition of Back in New York City 👏👏👏
In honor of Rael. Thanks for sharing your beautiful gift.
what a FUCKING AMAZING VERSION.
I keep coming back for this... Incredible.
Same. I come watch this several times a year. This time, to watch and learn how to play it like he does, in drop D...
@@DaveDraperGuitar I've only been playing for about three years and my primary is bass. I love it but I'm preparing for my first open mike and this is one of the songs I intend to play and I intend to play it the same way Frank did. All the members of Genesis know Frank and they probably love what he's done here
@@Earth_to_Kensho...ComeInKensho Best of luck on your open mic!! Knock em dead!
Found it the first time today. I will be back with you guys..
Fucking Amazing…..never heard this as an Acoustic offering……thoroughly impressed! Carry on young man….
Jesus what a version!! Great tune🔥
This is an absolutely superb rendition of this song. Thumbs up indeed!
And he did all this without cuddling a porcupine! amazing and beautiful!
Haha, good to know I'm still pulling spines out of my ass.
Too funny !
Wow wut a cut first time hearing this amazing artist but I'm now officially a fan it's so beautiful,I've been moved to tears.that my friends is true POWER.WUT would the world be without music,...even polka lol a great song is a great song
As a long-term Genesis fan, this is beautiful. Thank you Francis.
Soulful singer, rare thing to find today, a singer to know exactly the meaning of the lyrics and convey them to the people. He knows what he sings and how to sing it. Perfect! Thank you for singing! You are blessed.
My middle name is Rael. My Dad named from this album. Can anybody help me understand why? LOL. The song is great by the way
@@ericvevang he knew your were going to be a pain
Francis, u gave new live to one of the greatest songs of the seventies, thank you so much!
I love Francis Dunnery... He's absolutely kick ass in every way and he did a bang up job on this cover. I mean that was stunningly beautiful...
I've been blown away more times than I can remember by RUclipss. This is up there. Thanks. Very much.
Wow, the meaning of this suddenly changed radically. Good cover!
Brings tears to my eyes.
haunting and beautiful!
this chord sequence is so hypnotizing
and yet simple
It is so linked to the melody, to me as a drummer the nr1. song the best to way to learn a 7/8.
Well Done. One of my favorite tunes & by the sounds of it, one of yours. EXCELLENT
Lovely version. Thanks. He really understands the song. Brings the lyric to life
Mai avrei creduto che qualcuno potesse fare una versione di Back in N.Y.C. così meravigliosamente dilaniante per anima e orecchi...
great unplugged version...bravo!!
Just saw Francis yesterday at the house party in Aalborg, It was the best performance and concert I have seen for very long, love his music even when he play Genesís....
Absolutely love Francis ! Especially the it bites live in Tokyo concert !
the man just keeps going. innovative music.he's a gent. topman.
An absolutely lovely and splendid rendition. Pulling off just about any Genesis tune with one guy and a guitar is HARD! It's so clear that Francis adores this song (as well he should) and is honoring PG and Genesis with this reverent take. Love it (and am headed for my guitar to learn it!)
This is an awesome cover! What a great job on this!
Fantastic! What a great performance.
This works out the brilliance of the composition. Extraordinary well done, I love your voice and the way how you sing it.
absolutely perfect
Awesome version! Thank you!
I’ve known the lyrics to this whole album when it came out. Now other people can actually understand the lyrics of this song in particular. Timeless.
I listened to the Lamb last week after a long time, still knew the lyrics.
So Sublime. Francis does this classic justice with his beautiful rendition.
¡Hermosa versión! ¡Gracias!
Well put. I love the other two versions and having just heard this one for the first time, I love it as well.
Absolutely brilliant rendition 👏👏
Underrated song this,pure genius.
Wow! Inspirational performance! Great arrangement!
So glad this was posted!
And this is the same cat as Homegrown Dunnery?!
God damn am I old.
Wow - fantastic!
Incredible control of guitar and vocals. Clearer and crisper than original. Francis is easily the best performer on the scene today.
Fantastic - great job!
It's such great material. Hard to go wrong. But Francis really kicks it. Beautiful work!
Now I have to go check out Jeff Buckley's version. :D
that was incredible! Incredible song, incredible rendition!
Extremely excellent cover. Thanks
Fantastic, just beautiful . .

Genesis and frank xx what a great cover !!!!
Excellent!!
One of my favourite tracks from the 'Lamb' album and this cover gives it all the justice it deserves. A great acoustic version.
It is possible to play it in open 'E' however.
Open E? I wonder how that looks like (chord shapes)
Boa! He sounds like Peter Gabriel with a new touch. Great cover, great fun to listen to!
Wow his voice sounds like Gabriel. Sounds great.
Just brilliant.

I’ve never picked up a guitar in my life, but I’d give anything to be able to play 1/1000000th as well as he does!! 😀

@SpeakMoreClearly : awesome man, 3 of my top favorite artists...
A solid cover by a Pro!
Beautiful. What I'd give to see Pete do this live again...
This is a great cover. If I heard this before the original I think I would of like this one better.
I lIke IT!!!
type "colony of slippermen cover" into the search bar...there's a guy who does a piano + singing cover for the whole lamb album...I feel the same way about covers as you do...however that guy just blew me away. Really enjoyable.
Ian Tanner?
Pretty good indeed.
From D/G to D6/G is where the magic happens.
Brilliant
@SpeakMoreClearly Very well put. I totally agree.
Somebody please tell me there's a clip of him playing 'Musical Box' somewhere on the web - one of the musical highlights of my life was the inclusion of it on his tour recently (his own material was excellent BTW)
