i love that Red posted the whole series here. I have fond memories of watching this show late at night on PBS when i was visiting my grandparents. My grandma made both me and my grandpa go to bed early but sometimes when i couldnt sleep (ive had insomnia since i was little) I'd wait until she fell asleep and I'd get up and watch this show late at night with the sound nearly muted, sometimes i'd get up and find my grandpa already had the show and other times he'd get up and find me watching it, then we'd both silently watch the show without waking grandma up. I have alot of fond memories about this show and cant watch it without thinking about my grandpa since he was an amazing handyman, building nearly everything himself from his own metal detectors, his own deck, to his own fishing flies just like the guys in the show (and just like the guys in the show it wasnt unusual for him to injure himself on a regular basis)
@@arthas640 thank you for sharing your memories! I enjoyed reading your message. I didn't find this show until youtube introduced me to it. We had Home improvement. My mom and dad loved the show. However, I believe this was the better show. Tim Allen had some funny stuff, but nothing as creative as this show. Again, thanks. Your message was touching
@@ahillbillyredneck2375 thanks. This show is pretty unique with only Home Improvement standing out as something similar. The main actor came up with the idea back in the 70s when he invented the character red for another show (if I remember right it was a DIY/home improvement style show) and he wanted to make his own handyman comedy series, eventually wrangling up some local comedians to round out the cast. Him and his wife produced the show and owned all the rights which lead to less funding but more creative freedom
I can remember when watching Red Green made me feel young. Nowadays, watching Red Green makes me feel old? What happened? It's only been a few decades! ;-)
I watched this show when I was still living at a lakeside house in Damariscotta, Maine! Now I can see the old show on my cellphone and also at the age of 42 homeless, and living in a old shut down camping store parking lot in Santa Cruz, California, this show still makes me happy!😊
Strange.. while i do not disrespect Graham Greene as an actor I hated those segments. I also hated a lot of the Buz Sherwood bits even though there were parts I did like and the idea seemed good.. The shoulder punching idiot laughing persona was annoying though..The Ranger Gord animations were horrible in my opinion.. There was an awful lot I did like though
@@michaelwall4022 either you didn't understand the concept of the show or you didn't watch many episodes. Edgar and buzz were 2 of the best segments from the early shows.
Michael Wall I agree about Buzz, but Edgar is great in small doses. The The stories he tells are the joke itself, like Hap’s stories. It’s his deadpan delivery and serious nature that adds onto his funny stories, which others just can’t capture
daniel stewart Buzz was a terrible character: he was one joke that got old fast. If not for his actor being a talented writer he’d have been dropped years before.
@@bostonrailfan2427 that's the point behind the character. He was an old burnt out hippie that was always a day late and a dollar short. I have met, partied with, and befriended a few like buzz. And never expected any money or reward you knew you could count on them and they knew they could count on you.
I've been watching from the beginning. I raised my kids on Red and the gang. Everyone loves you Red (Steve). I have the complete box set of everything Red Green. 😁
Always loved the opening and closing credits for this show. Watching on the local educational channel you usually could get a few extra seconds or bits of material at the beginning and the end. Not sure what it is but always liked the S & S logo at the very end.
Just goes to show ya, if Harold can be successful at finding a girl, there's hope for all the single men! Remember I'm pulling for ya, we're all in this together!!!
I loved this series. I still play shows from it almost every night but it is sad seeing Steve Smith go from a fairly virile looking youngish man to a frail older guy in those few years.
Every week it's the same old jokes and the same old gags and the same old people, over and over. Damn I miss this show, it was the only consistent thing in my life.

Red's closing comment (hope wife is in an affectionate mood because he's desperate (in Harold's voice)) was absolutely priceless!
The "Nude Beach" skit was hysterical!
I used to watch this show to relax after studying in university. Always made me laugh.
I've seen Red at a CFL game throwing out signed rolls of duct tape.
Two people and a ring fighting all the time: Marriage...LOL
I hope not
@jamesmcleod5545 that was Red's first clue in the word game.
I've been on a "Red Green" binge lately. I can see this is gonna take some time ...!
