I think the elongated swirl is my favorite design. I have a Quilt Doodle Snowman quilt sandwiched and ready to quilt and this is the design I want to put in all the snow scenes. Thank you, Angela!!
I love your generosity, you are so talented and I greatly appreciate you sharing these wonderful tips and tricks. You are helping build my confidence to do something I've wanted to do my entire life- be a quilter! Thank you Angela ♡
I finally, FINALLY! got my "mantra" down for this one. Sometimes if my quilt design isn't clicking or is hit or miss I draw it and try to find the key (for me) to what I'm not happy with. For this one I kept losing the hill/curve in the tail after a few goes. So now I am using "bump up, swirl up, bump down, swirl down". By making the hill and the swirl in the same direction, it forced me to make more of an S to get ready for the swirl part. I was losing that S bow and it kept getting ugly. The whiteboard in my studio is a lifesaver!
I want to work with this! Watched enough of your videos that I think I'm ready to start on blocks & then quilt them together! Thank you for your many inspiring videos! I've just been so intimated!
These tutorials are sooooo enjoyable and inspiring, Angela. Thank you thank you thank you!! I can't wait to try my first swirl chain and leafy meander 🧡
Hi I am so enjoying all of your videos. I have been free motion quilting for years but have pretty much doing one or two overall patters they do looks good and like machine quilting. I live in Scotland and this year went home to home to the U.S. to see family and planned it so I could take in the Houston Quilt Show. It was FAB! My wife came across a stand that was selling your templates for quilting and had a video of you demonstrating how to use them. I did buy a few and so happy to find you on RUclips. If had been there I’m sure I would have bought more. There was another stand there with a person demonstrating her templates and was selling them like hotcakes. I am now in the process of making up quilt sandwiches to practice, practice, and more practice. I would love to be able to be with you on one of your live chats but the time difference makes difficult but I still watch your chats. I wanted to thank you for your help and once I get some samples made up Ill put up some photos. Thanks again, Stephen Lemoncello
I love this design and it’s exactly what I am looking for to use on a “lake life” themed quilt top and panel. Thank you Angela for the inspiration but more importantly the instruction. With practice I know I can do it!
You have inspired me to get my very first quilt top out and quilt it! It has only been 5 years in the making😂. Love your tutorials! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing gift with all of us.
The tip about where to start the next swirl in a chain was so helpful! I do have a quilt top that this would look great on. It was made from the Tula Pink Zuma collection (with all sorts of sea life) and the swirl chain has always looked like waves to this coastal person. I love the extended tip resources. It is like getting a little textbook for each lesson.
You make these designs look easy ! You’re a great teacher ! I’ve been subscribing and following you for a few years and I’ve learned a lot ! Thanks for all that you do !
Love it!! I'm finally caught up with the FMQ. I love all the different designs and especially the swirl chain. Years ago I saw this design and wondered how it was done and if I could ever do it. Yes! Thank you Angela
Oh my word!! I LOVE your shirt!! :-) I'm trying to get comfortable with my new (used) longarm, because I'm dying to start this challenge. But I just can't ruin that gorgeous panel before I know what I'm doing. So.... I'll keep practicing and maybe SOMEDAY I'll feel brave enough to load it and give it a try. (Or I might chicken out and quilt it on my domestic.) Either way, I love the designs in this challenge! I used an elongated swirl on a wall hanging quilt, and I was pleasantly surprised how well it turned out. :-)
This is the design my daughter wants on her quilt (currently under construction 🚧). All I have is a regular machine so I was a bit intimidated. Thank you SEW much! 😊
Love swirls, my quilting repertoire consists of stitch in the ditch and swirls, lol one or the other never both on the same quilt. But bit by bit your great tutorials are brainwashing me into thinking I can do more.
I’m so excited to try this! Love the swirl chain! Waiting on my new echo echo foot for my Pfaff. Downloading tip sheet to add to my much valued reference book! 👏🤗🤩🤩🤩🤩👏👏👏
Im not participating in this and have never FMG anything, but I have followed a couple of your quilting challenges. This is the 1st time I have actually felt like the designs are something I could do and want to do! I think I might pull together some FQ sandwiches and give these a try... A while even lol
Swirls--love them but need that.....yes, practice! These flow so beautifully and I love the examples of the two filler densities! I assume that working this pattern on the pillow panels will be the same, only smaller sized...any tips? Thank you!
I wish I knew this design when I was doing my son’s wedding quilt. It would have looked great where I did my large, rather open swirls! Oh well, I have another son who might get married in a few years and maybe I can use it then!
Love this and I do have a quilt sandwich in waiting for FMQ on my DSM 😁 This swirl chain is definately going on it! I'm not sure yet if it will be on a border, but I love the look of it when it's standing out with a smaller filler around it. How long would you say you extend out the swirl?? Thanks for the wonderful tips & video.
I love the swirl chain. Should I practice with darker thread? I have a hard time seeing where I need to or what I’ve quilted. Seriously, I finished a quilt and bound it. One square got missed. Ugh. It doesn’t really show but it needs to be quilted.
I think there is a problem with the link to the purchase of the Expanded Resource for Week 5! I just purchased it but it turned out to be Week 1 when I downloaded it. I already have Week 1
On no! When I tried to buy the expanded resource, it went to week 1. Oops! Bought the wrong one! Anyone else have this happen? I’m thinking this design will play well with a couple of my quilt borders. Thanks Angela!
I love the elongated swirl. There is so much movement to it. It reminds me of Van Gogh's Starry Night.
I agree and as an artist he was influenced by the japanese paintings so oriental feel too.

I love the flow of this design. It looks so elegant. Now onto practicing it!!!

Thank you Angela! You have so much knowledge and talent; thank you for sharing it with us! We really do appreciate you!
What is the name of this ruler pressure foot?
Which can be used in some sewing machines, say the name and model of some machine

I love how the elongated looks. Can't wait to try it on something
Cool addition to our Flora quilt. I do have issues with that gap in my elongated swirls, thank you Angela
Love it!! I'm finally caught up with the FMQ. I love all the different designs and especially the swirl chain. Years ago I saw this design and wondered how it was done and if I could ever do it. Yes! Thank you Angela
You're a terrific teacher!! Thank you so much!
I have a small baby girl quilt that would look great with this design. Thanks, Angela!

Oh, I think this would be gorgeous on the Bargello quilt
This is the design my daughter wants on her quilt (currently under construction 🚧). All I have is a regular machine so I was a bit intimidated. Thank you SEW much! 😊
I'm currently using the swirls and paisley design in the triangle and corner blocks of a lonestar quilt on my longarm
Love swirls, my quilting repertoire consists of stitch in the ditch and swirls, lol one or the other never both on the same quilt. But bit by bit your great tutorials are brainwashing me into thinking I can do more.
I LOVE the swirl chain!!! Thanks for the great review!

OooOoooOoooo!!! If I scale up the whole thing, I could do it with hand stitches and not go crazy. Chalk first then needle and thread. Wowza!
Wow!! You have motivated me to go over the fear of swirling!! Thank you!!
Btw we have the exact same gloves! 🤗

This is beautiful can't wait to try it. Thank you Angela!
Such beautiful stitching. Thank you for sharing!
Love this Angela ( as always). Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!!!
I really enjoy your energy!
Great tutorial- I’m going to try this for a border about 12 inches wide in a circular 7 foot circumference one block wonder quilt. Thank you.
I'd love to see photos! Sounds beautiful.
This is my most favorite design! 😍
Swirls--love them but need that.....yes, practice! These flow so beautifully and I love the examples of the two filler densities! I assume that working this pattern on the pillow panels will be the same, only smaller sized...any tips? Thank you!

I received my order . It was fast and perfect. Great communication
Super excited to try this! Thank you!
Looks like a great border design
Love this and I do have a quilt sandwich in waiting for FMQ on my DSM 😁 This swirl chain is definately going on it! Thanks so much for this tutorial. I think I finally "get it"!
I love the swirl chain. Should I practice with darker thread? I have a hard time seeing where I need to or what I’ve quilted. Seriously, I finished a quilt and bound it. One square got missed. Ugh. It doesn’t really show but it needs to be quilted.
So beautiful are there any helpful hints for using this design on the longarm?
I would love to see this quilted vertically to show how to advance on the long arm.
Where do I get those gloves. I love your shows I learn much
This is so pretty!!!
Are you going to discuss quilting the borders before this challenge ends? I really hope so.
I love all your quilting designs. Also, where can I get the ECHO shirt???
I am interested in the quilting gloves you are wearing, where can I buy such gloves?
Practice truely does perfect.
What is the brand of gloves you are using? Like the idea of some uncovered fingers...
I agree with Cindy. The tips really help but sometimes I freeze or try to wing it and the design goes wonky. Thanks Angela.
Does HQ still make that machine? I couldn't find it.
The expanded resource doesn’t seem to be accessible. Only the wood grain expanded resource seems available at the moment?
Would have loved to see how you carried it in a border on a long arm
Hi I have storm at sea quilt top that I need to quilt. I think the elongated swirl might work
Beautiful!!!
I would really like to buy a pair of gloves like those you’re wearing. Where can I buy them?
They are awesome! Here's a link to them: quiltingismytherapy.com/product/machine-quilting-gloves/
the pdf is attaching to week 1 and not week 5 for the expanded version to purchase
I can't find the elongated swirl printout.
The same thing happened when I put week 5 in my cart it was week 1.
Where did you get your quilting gloves???
I bought the expanded version, but the pdf I received is the free version.
Still learning from you!!!
Love it
Danke
I do have a design in mind, for my hummingbird.
Section 7 kept setting off my Amazon Echo...LOL
After I paid for the Expanded Resource it showed Week 5, but when I downloaded it it printed Week 4, Order number: 215758.
It's week 5 I just had the title wrong, I'll fix it later tonight
Thank you Angela, I printed the W5 diagrams.
I LOVE the elongated swirl pattern! It really is fun and fast. I used this pattern for the borders of my daughter's quilt.
