John, you are a breath of fresh air to the gaming world. I am a 45 year old gamer and I can not believe how toxic and negative the gaming community can be these days and hearing you talk with such positivity around games and gaming makes me realise why I love gaming so much. Never change dude. I look forward to your videos every week. Keep up the amazing work man.
I turn 34 on Saturday. Been a gamer since I was seven and man do I miss the days when videogame development was full of innovation and positivity. The community has definitely created a more toxic culture.
For my birthday this year I pulled the trigger on the Ys 8 PS5 collectors edition after previously cancelling my preorder. I also found the PS5 Ys 9 collectors edition, so I now own a bunch of cool stuff from both my favourite action RPG and it's (hopefully just as awesome) sequel! 😁
Happy Father's Day! I also picked up Tears of the Kingdom CE and it was just a magical experience. I beat the main story last night, but I plan to just explore and find all the stuff I missed (for years to come it feels like) haha. I agree totally one of the greatest of all time!
I don’t know what it is, but I can listen to you describe paint drying for 4 hours and love it. It actually makes me happier to listen to you talk about video games.
This is my first post on RUclips after watching you for years! You really came across as excited with this latest video. It really hit a point with me as I can vividly remember renting games like metal gear solid and siphon filter with my mates and finishing them in a sleepover night. Your excitement brought it all back. Big nostalgia listening to you. Keep up the good work.
Been playing video games since the 1980s. Unreal that the past 2 back to back years just gave us Elden Ring, which HAD become my favorite game of all time….until Tears of the Kingdom came along! What a time to be alive 🙂
Recently re-purchased my Nintendo 64 w/ 4 controllers and small collection of 22 games when i was teen back then. Will be playing and sharing my memories with my kids. Good video dude
My special edition copy of River City Girls: Zero from Limited Run finally arrived this week. I bought that about a year and a half ago, didn't think it would ever get here. Needless to say, very hyped for that!
I always love how you ask your viewers what they are playing or collecting, it's very cool. Like you I did the whole shebang with Zelda I even bought the OLED Switch.
Happy Father's Day Weekend Johnny! Hope you had a great day yesterday! Tears however has soaked up all my gaming time so no new stuff for me to talk about but....what an adventure so far in Hyrule!
Suikoden is one of those games I always forget how much I loved. The memories of popping it into the PS in the family room and hogging the TV for hours. :)
The jogcon wasn't only in Japan. I had that with the game as well here in the states. I only used that controller when I ever played it. Love the game.
Happy Father’s Day brother. I went all-in on TOTK. Collector’s Edition game, pro controller and even caved in to FOMO and grabbed the Zelda OLED. I don’t normally splurge, but I went nuts and now I’m so happy I did. This game is absolutely amazing.
Great video. I recently just received my copy of FF Pixel Remaster from Play Asia and for movies I got the Empire of Screams Blu ray set from Arrow Video (classic B-movie schlock).
I’m currently playing an old game on switch for the first time. Knights of the old republic and wow what a story the game is an absolute MASTERPIECE in my opinion ❤🎉
I highly recommend trinity trigger! I bought it about a month ago and loved what it came with when I bought it! Opened it up and surprisingly it’s a very good game! I wish they released more games like this that comes with goodies but not have to pay up the wazoo for it
That R4 JogCon is so unbelievably cool!! Ridge Racer R4 is still one of the best of the best. And you're right, the new Zeldas are THE ULTIMATE deserted island games. Happy Father's Day, brother! I recently got some good deals on Gundam Versus, Shadow of Mordor/Shadow of War, Digimon Cyber Sleuth, and Horizon Forbidden West!
1999 was a rough year for me, I was heavily entrenched in graduate school and my mother was dying of lung cancer and my dad was losing his mind, literally and figuratively. BUT…I remember that video games saved my sanity, and 1999 was an amazing year for games. If it weren’t for video games, I don’t think I would have made it through 1999. I’m going to have to look up that video of yours.
Got my Shadowrun battery replaced for the Genny, and nicely soldered in! The use of FM there reminds me of Blake Stone for DOS! Also playing it on a Model 1 with the "High Definition Graphics" stamp!
Awesome pick ups! Haven't bought too many new games because of TOTK, but I did get the Mother 2 soundtrack on vinyl in the mail and a vintage Mario 2 doll with all the original packaging for my birthday this past week! Some epic gamer hauls in the month of June, hope you have a great week ahead of you!
Lately I picked up Valis : The Fantasm Soldier Collection 1 and 2 on the Switch and I love it! What a classic series, very hard but satisfying with excellent music!😁
John, I went back to my childhood home to attend my sisters wedding in Michigan. I ended up finding my original NES, DS, Xbox, Sega Genesis in the box, and Xbox 360. I put them all in a suitcase and took them back home in San Diego. Watching your show inspired me to gather all those relics so now im going to create shelves in my home arcade to display them. I got that NES when I was 6 years old, its awesome that its covered in duct tape on the power cord and whatnot. I have a new found appreciation for well worn gaming systems. I think its amazing because these things were my own and defined some of the funnest days of my childhood into adulthood! Thanks for keeping that childlike enthusiasm for gaming!
I totally get what you mean when you say you feel genuinely happy walking into the room and seeing parts of your collection, and recalling the memories that go with them. It's one of the great joys of collecting. I've had to pause getting new stuff lately until I catch up with with what I've already bought. I got, but have yet to play, FF Pixel Remaster collection, Grandia HD collection, Tactics Ogre, Metroid Prime remastered, and Chrono Cross. After 150ish hours in TotK, it's finally time to start making my way through some of these other games.
I love your channel to relax :) I love playing video games but Im not too much into collecting. But watching you talk about them and showing things into the camera is so entertaining
Its awesome to see someone else passionate about Suikoden as well! It was one of the first rpgs I played on the Playstation 1, and will always be one of my absolute favorites!
The fact that they got rid of the durian on Satori Mountain made the beginning of ToTK more of a challenge for me. In BoTW I would just head straight to Satori and collect all of the goodies. There's still some good stuff there in ToTK, but most of the +heart ingredients seem to be in the sky.
Always great hearing you yap about games. I've been playing some stuff lately but haven't been buying any new items. I got sick of having a bunch of stuff everywhere. Outrun 2 Xbox, Magician Lord Neogeo, and World Class Baseball TG16 have been getting my attention as of late.
I’m 115 hours into TOTK and I continue to find some locations that make my jaw drop. I also just completed the Awakening set and it made me SO happy to put it all on. I want to wear it for the rest of the game!
Sunday traditions! John, 1999 was my favorite gaming summer too! I was 11 yrs old, staying up all night watching Evangelion tapes, chatting on msn messenger...beating RE Directors cut by myself at 2 am. Man oh man! Oh and Trinity Trigger is a fun good time!
I recently acquired three GBA games: Tactics Ogre, Fire Emblem, and Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones. I had also wanted to get Etrian Odyssey HD Collection on Switch, but I'll wait for a sale.
Happy Father’s Day, John! Crazy that I started watching this show about 12 years ago before I even met my wife. Now we’ve been married for 6 years and our son will be 2 in October. Still look forward to every Sunday for a new vid!
Down in Oregon for the summer with the kids, so mostly picked up DS RPGs for me and dusted off lots of great multi player couch co-op games we have been waiting to play as a family with our hosts. Exciting summer of gaming and Pacific road trips. DS: Bravely Default (completed) Dragon Quest 9 (loving it) Dragon Quest 7 (apprehension…) Co-op: Street Fighter 6 River City Girls 2 Dragon Crown Pro Trinity Trigger Pre Order: FF16 Aliens Tactical game (name escapes me) Hope everyone is having a great summer Cheers
Happy Father’s Day Johnny! Just this week I picked up Trinity Trigger Day One Edition for Switch, Wasteland for C64, Gals Fighters for Neo Geo Pocket Color, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for the Game Boy Advance.
What a time to be alive💯 Trinity Trigger, Loop8 Summer of Gods, & Fairy Fencer have been my rotation lately. All beautiful games in their own way.🙏🏽💯 i also have Gal Guardians Demon Purge Physical release on the way😎👍🏽
Me and my bud ended up trying out phantasy star last night. Thought we were gonna put it down pretty quick but we ended up playing it for hours. Good recommend. Happy fathers day!
I was in the Philippines last month and ended up picking up a Pokémon switch Oled along with some physical copys of Xenoblade 1&2 , Bayonetta 1, Splattoon 3, Zelda Totk (it was only $52)and a Kamen rider game sine I found a store called Data Blitz that had alot of stuff that was cheaper than the US. I also Got the new Zelda Pro Controller just before I left on vacation.
Recently my friend gave me his old psp which I repaired and ever since I’ve been trying to collect the UMD disks for them because it’s so unique ! Even tho I jailbroke the psp ,just having those disks and popping them in is so nostalgic and satisfying!
I always thought the dungeon music from the original The Legend of Zelda for the NES was haunting. I remember playing that game from 10pm to 3 am many nights and the dungeon theme mixed in with the action sound effects was simple but so good. (I keep crossing my fingers that Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection will come to steam!)
I have just been traveling the octopaths. Both one and two. I enjoy being a Traveler who travels the octopaths. Almost have both of them beat. Then maybe I'll get tears of the kingdom but I'm considering playing all the MegaMan collections first.
Recently got a couple more wrestling games for the Wii, WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 & 2010, SNK Heroines and Crazy Castle 3. A TMNT 3 LCD handheld. Then my copy of Powerslave Exhumed for PS4 from LRG finally arrived, so it's nice to play that game again with modern features. It's really expensive on the Saturn now.
Ive been absolutely loving ToTK! Ive put over 100 hours into it, and have only done 2 of the 4 main story places. Although i just finished the Dragon Tear quest line last night... i wont spoil it, but man... what an experience
Recently picked up a physical Switch cartridge of the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection, from Playasia. Having so much fun with these old DS-games... even the map drawing, tedious as it may sound, is so much fun to do. I do use a stylus for this, as the button controls are a little less ideal. But I love dungeon crawling through these HD remasters once again and battling FOE's and other mean critters.
My 1st PS1 game that I bought, and it was in fact the sole reason I sold my Sega Saturn and associated games to buy the PS1 console, was Resident Evil. My mind was blown away, such an incredible game. I have since sold everything I had except that game 🙂
This week I picked up the SNES pixel book from bitmap books, as well as the new starfield xbox controller, and they're absolutely both pieces I'm thrilled to have my hands on! That Wonder Boy collection looks amazing! Truly a collector's edition done right!
Interesting to hear about Suikoden. It was also the first PS1 game that I bought ever when I first got my PS1 (which was also used) after selling my dinner at school for months to save up the money. I'd seen it sitting on a shelf in a video store and liked the look of the box art and the general graphics on the back. Seem to remember a scene in-game on the back with a windmill on it that peaked my curiosity. I got it in the end and it was the first game that got me into turn-based RPG's after struggling with the concept a few years prior. All the RPG's I played were action based generally until that point.

Wouldn't mind a 4 hour Zelda podcast from you.
My thoughts exactly.
Please!
All gen gamers! Run it back!
He should do podcasts.
@@figvania4805 I think he should do what he feels is best. But that said i would definitely like it.
That Ridge Racer story is so cool, what an amazing find. Awesome hoodie too!!
I see Happy Console Gamer upload, I click. It's a simple rewarding life.
I can't always watch at that moment but this channel is one of the primary uses for "Watch Later" for me.
I see a dorky comment, I make fun of it. Simple as that.

I could listen to you talk about games that you love for hours.
Good episode!

There are so many rpgs that came out in the last few years its crazy I wish I had more time

Tears of the kingdom has easily worked its way up to my top 10 favorite games of all time, every moment spent with it is such divine joy.
The original KOTOR is my second favourite game ever. 2nd only to GTA: Vice City.

For Father’s Day, my wife got me a Sharp Twin Famicom with Doki Doki Panic and Japanese Smb2!! So awesome!!!
I love ridge racer type 4, I picked up the remastered soundtrack recently. I had no idea there was an exclusive controller that came with it.
Awesome pick ups! Haven't bought too many new games because of TOTK, but I did get the Mother 2 soundtrack on vinyl in the mail and a vintage Mario 2 doll with all the original packaging for my birthday this past week! I too have the Ridge Racer Limited Edition Jogcon, mint, box and game
Wonder Boy is amazing! I remember seeing the first one in the Arcades back in the day. I could not believe how good it looked.

TOTK was a bit of fun, played like 10 hours and have no desire to play it ever again but I get it
FF16 this week though, oh baby

Old school gamer, here. Found a HUGE box of ol' Nintendo DS and 3DS games with their strategy guides in my storage. . . WTT?
Cool video man. Just got my Starfield controller today and pre-ordered Final Fantasy 16. Demo blew me away!
Suikoden is one of my favorite games of all time. Suikoden 2 is a classic, can’t wait for Eiyuden Chronicles.
Happy Father’s Day!! Thank you for another great episode. I may have to get trinity trigger now… cheers
Suikoden (used) and Mega Man 8 were my first games when I bought my ps1 in 97. I love Suikoden and am a huge fan.
Suikoden is the first game I bought when I started working. I still have my original copy. Small world
I am thinking of playing Growlanser V Generations/Growlanser Heritage of War as my entry to this series. I love art style of the Growlanser games.
I have been watching all the stuff on starfield and I can’t wait for that game
Man i used to love ridge racer type 4. That controller is so sick. Suikoden vinyl is crazy too
Recently got a couple more wrestling games for the Wii, WWE Smackdown Vs.
Awesome. And happy Father's day Johnny ❤️😊
Ive been absolutely loving ToTK! Ive put over 100 hours into it, and have only done 2 of the 4 main story places. Although i just finished the Dragon Tear quest line last night... i wont spoil it, but man... what an experience
I am LOVING TotK and I am taking my time with it like I did with BotW.
Love it!
Thank you for another shared Sunday.
I got a Steam Deck like a month or two ago. I love this thing so much. I'm finally able to get into the Trails franchise.

I finally got me a copy of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake on vinyl and it's amazing!
I've been waiting for this! Went to a retro gaming shop in my state (few left) and copped Final fantasy 3 on DS and Final Fantasy 9 on PS1 as well
