    Harold does a phenomenal job with carbs, The only complaint I have is having to put an air cleaner on top that blocks the view. 👍👍👍

    Thanks for the info and how well you explained it makes a lot of sense.and I would like to add to that I love the dichromate finishes on all your carbs I think it looks better by you than by factory. I run a small town carb shop here in ohio for the past 30 yrs but most of the carbs I do are lawn equipment but have had the pleasure of the Quadra jet have many of those too.as my cards read 6 to 600 hp.you got a subscriber for life.thank you DennisCarb.

    I had a Challenger 340 sixpack. I changed the vacuum linkage to progressive linkage, much better after you learn how to accelerate. The 340 would not take all the gas/air until it reached 3000RPM, then it would pop like a stick of dynamite going off. I love that car! When it comes to the carbs, Harold is the man.

      I have a 396 with tri-power and it too, doesn’t use the vacuum linkage, only mechanical linkage (I assume that’s what you mean by progressive) on the outboard carbs. I was thinking of making the switch to vacuum. Any thoughts from Harold or others here with tripower experience? This is a new purchase for me

      @@mrmcd4532 Yes, progressive and mechanical is the same. Just curious, what's your reason for going to vacuum? Your 396 would probably take the gas/air mixture at a lower RPM being that it's a big block. To me, I feel that I have better control from 0-3000 RPM than allowing the vacuum to control the outside carbs to kick in. It just feels and sound better to me.

      It probably is better with progressive linkage, especially that I live in the city of Chicago. However, the transition from two to six barrels is so sudden and there is a very slight hesitation. It feels like you have the car floored but then you smash the accelerator harder and it forces the other carbs open. It’s a thrill, for sure, but it would seem that vacuum linkage would be smoother. I’m speculating as my tri-power experience is zero until now. Thanks for engaging and thanks a ton to Harold for these videos.

    WOW! You just explained how I blew my 427. The link rod is comprised of 2 pieces held together with a small bolt and nut. The shop that re-installed my carbs after a rebuild must not have tightened it correctly, or the part failed. I was at WOT leaving my development. I went to shift, and the carbs remained at WOT. After the fact, I found the bolt and nut sitting on the intake manifold. That was an expensive ride. At least I now know what happened.

    I wonder if that was discovered by accident when they first developed the 6 barrel carb setup. I can see that being overlooked when they first revved the throttle.

    that's awesome. always wondered how those work. I'm surprised they make that diaphragm in those still. looks very similar to the 3 barrel one. you know if it is Harold and where is your source for them. enjoy listening to you. like the grandpa I never had teaching me something...lol

    Awesome content, Harold. Your video from years ago where you explain the warping issue with these holley carbs helped me discover and correct my own set of carburetors. Where are you based out of? I was thinking about sending my carbs to you during next winter to have them re-finished with your zinc dichromate process. Please let me know how else I could get ahold of you or if this would be possible. Thanks!

    Hi Harold. How you adjust outboard carburetors idle when they are on the engine?

      The factory set outboard carburetors 7/8 turn out from seat. This setting is good. Adjust air fuel from center carburetor. If you have to mess with outboard carburetors you have another problem.
