hmm... I really like that Crater sculpt. That's pretty cool!

It's fine for what it is, but it's not the most exciting terrain sculpt they've done. The rules for it are really interesting, though.

Should have been in the Rokkon and Stonedar pack

So far all of the special terrain elements have keyed to an item rather than a character (while it makes sense for the gas tank to be in Stinkor's pack, it was still linked to a universal item rather than something only he could use, which was surprising). In this case the crater is created through the use of the bomb pack.

Great video as always. I do love Archons figures they have good detail and easy to assemble.

Thanks for the review. You do great things! Seeing as you have all the expansions so far released, how do you store them? Do they all fit in the core box, or have you kept all the individual boxes? In other words - have you got a Unified Storage Solution (USS)? :-)
The only pity is, that Archon being Archon, they are more focused on bringing in money on new expansions for Battleground, than they are actually releasing the crowd-funded game - Fields of Eternia - which funded the art for the core box and all the sculpts (save 1) for the core game as well.... sigh.

Thanks. I was sure I had heard that Fields of Eternia was about ready to ship, if not shipping already, I must have got that wrong. I'm sure it won't be long now because they are almost read to ship their latest Dungeons and Lasers rewards, which were crowdfunded much later than Eternia.
I don't know if you have ever seen one of my videos on magnetised storage solutions but as I paint miniatures, I stick a magnet on the bottom and then store them in Really Useful Box Co crates with rubber steel sheet stuck into the bottom of them. Keeps the miniatures safe and means I have easy access if I want to use them in other games.
The terrain also gets stored in Really Useful Box crates, same as the terrain for all my other tabletop games. Not magnetised though.
All the cards, boards and tokens are stored in the original core box.

The sculpts are so weird for this series. Once again we have Buzzoff in sort of a Classics design but he has characteristics of the Origins line as well. The helmet is closer to vintage or Origins while that weird long axe larva weapon is from Classics, as is the wing design with the much smaller inner wings. The hand positioning is very Origins since the vintage and Classic Buzzoff used the loop on the axe to hold his weapon and the Origins rotated the hand to use the claw on the handle. Both look like he'd rather not have an axe.
Man E Faces is straight up the Classics design with the actual flesh colored flesh, the purple shoulder pads, and the repositioning of the chest tubes/mechanics in order to show of his nipples of the universe. It all make him look much more like a gladiator, but that's not really a bad thing.
Maybe I'm just weird by the design elements really don't work for me across the range.
They missed a trick by not letting Skeletor have a chance at controlling him for a turn when he is in monster mode. That's a classic plot line and Man E Faces has to struggle like the Hulk to control the monster side.

I know what you're saying but it doesn't personally bother me. I wonder if there was some contractual reasons for the design choices, as everything would have had to go through Mattel for approval. Or maybe Archon just wanted to make a "greatest hits" sort of thing and decided to pull the design elements they liked the most.
I think the Skeletor control ability might have been tricky because of the format of the game (and their desire to make this more of a tournament game - which I still struggle to see), but maybe they could have made the monster transformation something you had to fight against more - maybe you have to spend mana and an action to prevent the transformation or else risk hurting adjacent allies. Something like that.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I think the more likely explanation is that the artists just got a stack of assorted figure art and just just sort of improvised. If it required any sort of supervision then the amalgam designs probably wouldn't pass. Not that Mattel isn't all over the map to begin with.
The tournament thing thing is a bunch of crap. It's never gonna happen.

I don't know how fussy Mattel are. When Archon were Prodos they had a bad time with Fox who were very particular. Maybe Mattel are a little more laid back but I would still expect them to have signed off on everything. I don't see this being a tournament game in any real, long-term sense. It's a cracking pick-up-an-play game for playing with narratives and just messing around with "dream team" match-ups with your favourite characters though.

Would you be interested in a randomizer template for Hero Quest maps? I know you made a lot on that game and even have a small campaign for Advanced, but did you make something about the core game? It will be useful for those who have played it enough times and memorized the maps, so a randomizer would make every session unique. I have some ideas about it that I can share with you if you are interested. I can send them via an email if you have one.

Archon Studio will never get the rights to freely distribute this game in the US because of CMoN. However, some US stores are stocking it. Badger Games definitely has stock of the Wave 3 expacs, so I am sure there must be other places out there.
