Surely the church of the holy sepulchre was outside the walls of the city in the time of Jesus given the fact they are Jewish tombs in the holy sepulchre. This must be proof that this area was indeed outside the city walls at that time. Keep up the excellent work! 🇬🇧✡️🕎🇮🇱

    Thanks Danny. So interesting that some archaeological evidence points to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and some to the Garden Tomb. Hopefully you will have the opportunity to find out. But one thing our tour guide said a lot comes back to me in situations like this is that he would say for certain locations that “it was either here or near”. As much as I think it would be great to know the exact location we do know it was in Jerusalem and knowing that we are walking in the same city that King David, Solomon, Jesus etc., walked in is still so amazing. One of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. They shall prosper that love thee. What a promise for those who love and pray for Jerusalem.

    Since there are Jewish kokh tombs in the area of Holy Sepulchre, a second wall may have excluded the tombs to avoid including them within the city boundary. That could account for the sudden bend in the wall.

    Hi Dan. Appreciate great effort and time put in your sharing. Like to add on your 9 feb on the Tomb in the garden. Outside the tomb where trough and outside tomb wall are, you can find old roman's iron brackets (its confirmed that came and during that era) are used to 'lock or seal' it. You can find the round marking about 8 ft or more where the rolling door are unclosed. The trough is a guide passage where to close the tomb. Joseph. the rich believer asked for His body and he placed there as its was close to Sabbath and accordingly to the Word of God, its was an unused tomb (meant for his own- Joseph). As for the ARK, animals blood were sprinkled on the east side, when High priest went inside the Holy of Holies. Jesus blood can NEVER be mixed with animals blood. Like the tomb too. (Late Ron Wyatt found the Ark below the Skull and tested the findings in Israel lab during his time there). Zachariah cave is not too far from Garden Tomb and inside where you can find certain part of the wall is completely sealed. I believe the Ark was taken away from the skull by Israel authority (ready for the 3rd temple very soon) from there and late Ron was unable to see when he returned back to explore further. Shalom.

    • @misskay8790
      @misskay8790 2 года назад

      Done a lot of digging and a good friend of Ron at a conference in Phoenix provided with Ron the papers from the lab. Before they would let Ron speak at the event they had to prove the lab results were authentic so they brought their expert. Each lab finding is numbered and on Ron’s papers proving the blood of Jesus they found that the numbers were legit and matched with their own records. This is just one example as to why I believe Ron not to mention he was the most humble and faithful man to God ever. He was not out for fame or money.

    • @misskay8790
      @misskay8790 2 года назад +2

      Completely agree with you. If you just build a church or building over it then preserve the site, don’t cover it up!!! A good example is Jacob’s well. It was left alone until the 1970’s when the Catholic Church decided to build a monstrosity over it. Instead of preserving the location they obliterated it and now you walk down in a basement to see a cement hole where the well is. Look it up, you can still find pictures of how it used to look. My point is the Catholics have done this everywhere. It’s criminal actually.

    Thank you!! I have always looked at that sharp cornered wall on the maps and thought, "That is just too "specific", too "perfect" for the purpose of upholding the Holy Sepulchre theory. I always thought, "The wall just all of a sudden dropping down from the north, making a sharp turn west, and then reconnecting to the southern end, it just seems very unusual - Why would they decide to cut so much northern land space out in such a very structured and specific way? Why would the architects, who are building the wall westward, then all of a sudden decide to go south so specifically and sharply, only to then reconnect to the southwestern end after making yet another sharp turn?" It doesn't make sense to me at all. It was always my thought that they could have much easily continued building the wall westward and carried it down at a curve toward the southern connection point (somewhat like the way you drew it on your whiteboard Danny). Albeit, I don't know the exact topography of the land, and perhaps it was not possible to build the wall that way. Or perhaps they were prevented from building a curved wall due to tombs being in the area and they couldn't have them inside the city. Regardless, it still doesn't make sense to me. Then what you said about your Christian friend who "didn't want you saying anything about the find of a possible 2nd wall in the back of his shop because he supports the Holy Sepulchre theory" exactly solidifies my thoughts and opinions that the Catholic Church preferred to create their own version of things rather than look at the actual evidence and acknowledge the reality. I am not trying to insult anyone by saying that. I am simply stating my opinion. Based on what you have said in this vlog - It is my thought that the early church fathers determined for themselves where the crucifiction and burial of Christ occured, and despite any other evidence produced, they have maintained that tradition ever since - even by "creating an imaginary wall" to fit their narative. This video you have given us excites me tremendously! Thank you!!

    I wonder if the more northern site is too far and would have been out of site from the city walls if the point of crucifixion was to humiliate the convicted and scare passers-by that they should never oppose Roman authority.
    Would people have walked that far to the site by the current bus station?
    And I wonder about the sequence of events and distances from the praetorium on to the via dolorosa and then to golgotha while Yeshua was carrying a piece of the cross on his back.

    Thank You, Danny, for your dedication. Two questions are engaging me.
    1. Was it allowed to burry anyone within the city wall? The Tomb of Jesus is not the only one in the Holy Sepulchre, as You once pointed.
    2. Crucifixion was usual method of killing condemned by Romans. Awfully cruel and horrifying way. Intimidation of all inhabitants of Jerusalem would be effective if anyone will see the death of an enemy of the empire. Is it true that Golgotha was poor quality hill in a stone quarry located in this area, and its proximity to the city could determine using the hill in purpose of crucifictions?

    • @danny.the.digger
      @danny.the.digger  2 года назад +1

      No. Jews always buried their dead outside the city.
      The tomb inside the Holy Sepulchre was outside the city for sure. The question is when did it go out of use? When the 2nd wall was added? Or the 3rd wall?
      And it is suggested that the hill in the Holy Sepulchre was really a poor stone and so it was not cut indeed, and eventually turned into an Roman execution site.

    I just recently found your channel and am enjoying your videos. I have had the privilege of visiting Israel twice, once in 1980 and again in 2015. In the grand scheme of things the exact location of the crucifixion and burial don't matter because as that sign on the door says, He is not here, He has risen as He said, which is the most important fact behind the entire Christian faith.
    But speaking strictly for myself... the Church of the Holy Bling-Bling is frankly a ridiculous abomination with all the territorial battles between the sects that claim space there, and the fact that a Muslim family has to hold the keys to the building I find very telling.... (And don't get me started on that ladder!) The Garden Tomb, on the other hand, is such a lovely and peaceful place that again reminds us that He is NOT HERE for He has risen as he said. The garden allows for quiet contemplation whereas that blinged-up battleground excuse for a "church" does not, shall we say, present a positive picture of the Christian faith!
    Anyway... keep up the good work, and perhaps one of these years I will be able to take another tour of your beautiful country.

If those are around the same period, wouldn't that suggest it was outside the walls as no burials took place inside the walls? Thank you in advance for clarification, love the series!

    Topography of the area shows Golgotha (near the bus station) as being part of Mt Moriah. Mt Moriah has special significance throughout the Bible, therefore Jesus fulfilling there what was shown earlier to Abraham does align completely.
    As for Joseph of Arimathea: my Bible proper names references me from Arimathea, over to Ramah, where Rachel wept for her children (Matt 2:18) & the place where Samuel was buried (1Sam 28:3). Could this be the same Ramah then, that is about 5 miles from Bethlehem?

    Jesus was tried, judged and sentenced at the Praetorium which was Pilots residence and administrative center for Jerusalem. The Praetorium was the former palace of Herod the Great. A short walk from the Praetorium was the Gennath gate, and from the Gennath gate it was a short walk to the crucifixion site where the Church Of The Holy Sepulture stands today.

    Archaeologists have come to the conclusion that the church of the holy sepulcher is where a rock quarry used to be as well as several other tombs. So therefore could not have been inside the second wall, but probably just outside of it. Also, the tradition of the location goes back to Roman times, and that is strong evidence for me that it is most likely the real place where the crucifix ion occurred.

Aren't the tombs at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher first century tombs? If they are, would they be inside the city walls? Does this not show this location was outside the city walls at the time of Jesus?

    Danny: Thanks for revisiting this issue. I think the important point is that Jesus died and rose again, where it happened is trivial. I do have a question..what was the ground like at the holy sepulcher site in the first century? When Mary came to the tomb she mistook the Lord for a Gardner because she was in a garden. Was there buildings or gardens at the holy sepulcher site too? Ty

    Is the last station of the via delorosa accurate ? If it is then it should be golgota and the tomb of jesus within a few yard from it. Yes another wall could have been added after jesus’s rise to heaven. Regardless the first wall and the 2nd wall would have been different in height and design that archeologists could have identified.

    I spent time in both holy sepulchre and garden tomb. I also spent time in Hebron at Abraham's tomb. Why can we know where the patriarchs are buried thousands of years before Jesus but not know his exact burial tomb? It's because He did not want us to know the exact spot. We humans tend to set up little "temples" on such places but I don't believe this is pleasing to G-d. Blessings from Alaska USA.
