      I advised the "engineer", that engine was making a sound,and he should check it, he said i was crazy, and during the night it just blew.. there was oil all over the place, and part of a rod made a hole in the engine and was stuck on the wall, fourtunatlly nobody died cause it was night. Next, there was an inquiry, and he was fired up.

    What a life you have, and what a wife you have too who obviously enjoys being on the sea with you ! The reverse frame clips shows how waves build before they break on the deck and that's interesting but I wonder if it might be possible to edit in a few slo mo clips of large waves hitting the side of your ship, rising up to their peak and then crashing down on the deck, waves are always so interesting to watch with all that stored energy waiting to break out? Stay safe, both of you and enjoy life. Finally, thank you so much for sharing your video's with us.

      You are welcome and thank you for your comment, Yes I consider myself as a lucky man. Editing an uploaded video is not possible. RUclips does not allow it. The only way would be, to make a new video and upload it again.

      @@Wolfgang227 Thank you for explaining that, so far I have not shared any videos so I am unaware of RUclips allows with videos but if you do experience any heavy storms it would be very interesting to see some slow motion clips of large waves breaking over the side of the ship and over the bow or deck you are on, if you could possibly manage that. As for the videos you posted, are the waves usually that size during the Monsoon season and after the monsoon moves on do you normally get a swell that size ? I don't know how long you have been on ships but I do wonder if you have seen any gradual changes in the weather and severity of the winds and waves ? I live in the UK and while there seems little change in wind strengths here, our rainfall certainly seems to have changed, we still get light showers but the heavy showers seem to be far heavier when they do happen, than when I was young. With our world temperature gradually increasing, rainfall can only increase so we can expect showers to become much heavier than anything we have ever experienced and winds to become much stronger at sea and that must be cause for concern for anyone like yourself who spends their working life on a ship. Take care and stay safe, P

    • @Wolfgang227
      @Wolfgang227  3 года назад +4

      @@Peter-nv3wu The waves can be bigger, especially if there is a hurricane near by. So far we always managed to avoid hurricanes. If the monsoon is over the sea can be, from time to time, very calm. A gradual change of the weather pattern I cannot confirm, I also moved around too much.
      I encountered Typhoons in the Yellow sea, a storm in the Pacific, bad weather in the Mediterranean, etc. For a while we were moving up and down the red sea, Egypt - Sudan, there it was calm, also in Indonesia, Borneo - Java - Sumatra. A few time in the Atlantic, during good weather seasons, from Cape Town to Spain it was rough.
      A while carrying crude oil from Venezuela to Canada, in the Gulf of Lawrence we encountered terrible weather in winter, the ship was building up too much ice, the crew had to go on deck with ice picks to remove the ice, at that time I was very happy to work in the engine department, I was in charge for the steam boiler. Etc.

      @@Wolfgang227 Thanks so much for all the info, life certainly sounds very interesting and varied for you and you certainly get to travel a great deal. I have seen a few videos of how extreme weather can be at sea. I used to go sea fishing on a boat regularly but no more than 10 to 12 miles out in the channel (I live in the UK) and just a short distance out like that it can get very rough at times, but nothing like the weather you must regularly experience being miles away from anywhere. I am going to gradually work my way through the videos you have shared as they look very interesting, so far I have watched the engine room tour, that was a very good video and I am watching another one at the moment, as I find anything connected with the sea or boat's/ships interesting.

    Is it normal for the waves to come aboard? Looks like that would make a ship sink? But it seems like no big deal in this video.

    • @Wolfgang227
      @Wolfgang227  2 года назад +5

      Yes it is quite common that waves roll over this type of vessel. Tanker ships fully loaded have a small freeboard, which means there is not much left above the water line and in bad weather they go under the water surface. Anyhow it can get dangerous in very bad weather, I know of another ship which sank in the Atlantic, it was a new design of a container vessel with the accommodation and bridge at the forecastle. The ship run into a storm and sunk with the whole crew and one dog. Because there was no survivor, a model was built and thoroughly tested in a tank to find out the reason. It was discovered, if this ship dived into a wave, it did not come up any more and such a design was abandoned.

    • @Wolfgang227
      @Wolfgang227  2 года назад +4

      Unfortunately it is not very common. It differs between companies. In recent years security and safety has been tightened up on ships and make it more complicated for family members to come along. Now an expensive insurance is required, before family was insured with the crew, no extra fees where required. Wives have to be declared as crew members, otherwise the ship carries passenger and has different insurance and safety requirements, so minimum certificates, like fire fighting, rescue, first aid are required, and so on.

      Yes, this ship behaves very well in bad weather. It dives into waves relatively soft and still makes good speed. I was on other ships which were too bulky in front with extruding anchor pockets which behave terrible in bad weather. When they dive into a wave, the whole ship comes to a sudden halt and the accommodation is whipping. It knocks you off your feet. @@juaquimgustavo4712 Actually she likes it more than me.
      About people I understand what you say. I was on one ship were the 2nd engineer treated one motorman very badly, I was also motorman that time but I had no problem. One day he could not stand it anymore and hit the 2nd that he fell under the freshwater generator. He was laying there and waited for someone to help him, two oiler witnessed the event but applauded the motorman. So he had to crawl out himself.
      The capt did not take any action because the motorman had a good reputation. Unfortunately a few days later in the mess room, a 3rd engineer defending in speech the 2nd attacked the motorman, which was much smaller and for his defence the motorman grabbed a Gin bottle, broke half off at the table corner and hit the 3rd with the remaining half a few time in the face and caused some serious wounds, that we had to alter course to send the 3rd ashore for treatment. Next port the motorman was sacked for which I felt sorry because I did like him, the 2nd stayed on and the 3rd came back with his stitched face.

      Saint Luke 5:32 KJV I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

      @@Lawrence-Joseph-Norse Nobody can or will save you, this you have to do all by yourself in a way by following the teachings of Jesus. He was a great being, he showed us, how to live our life - free of violence, if someone slaps your left cheek, offer him the right cheek - do not judge others, who without sin take the first stone, - never speak any lie, even if you have to pay with your life. Now you can say, he did die for us, because he showed us, not to lie, even if you have to die. But to say, he died for our sins, is total distortion of his teaching. After his transformation from the physical plane back to the spiritual plane, he appeared to his followers in spiritual form, to show them, that we are spiritual beings and we do not die, we are eternal beings, this body was only a temporary domicile.

      He Wolf, his point was that Jesus Christ ks the only Saviour that can save us from the death of sin. Repentence ia to turn from sin unto Christ.

    How beautiful, I love the ocean and watching the waves. I’ve been on cruises but I don’t know how well I’d fare on the open ocean like that, especially now that I have MS with vertigo. …it’s just a dream. Safe sailing!
