I’ll watch anything about David Wiggins… the guy is genuine! God I hope he gets back on tour… I’m rooting for him! 🔥🔥🔥
It never hurts to email your guest the questions beforehand so they can be prepared as you are. Makes for a better interview and allows them to decline any questions they may find too personal. Thanks for the interview. It was a good one.
I used to work for The Rush Fitness Complex in High Point. David would come in and do all his mobility workouts. I had no idea what disc golf was at the time and I truly regret not talking with him more about it! So pumped to see him getting back on the tour!
Rooting for you, David! You inspire me to get back to what I’m good at in my life.
Thanks so much for this Trevor. Please do Isaac Robinson next.
Trevor is so good at this
Awesome to hear more from him, great segment :)
The light disc tip is a good one.
Throwing your disc into a tornado...amazing.
He should for sure do videos on youtube of his workouts, mobility, etc. Would be a hit!
Stay tuned.
@@coach_chris_taylor if you’re coaching him it’ll be a hoot
I like David, he reminds me of my son. A genuine nice guy.
Another great show, Trevor!!
Love your interviews
+1 for light weight. my favorite disc was a 167 star valkyrie. lost it, but it was actually hard to throw it less than 360ft. that thing had the juice.
I found an autographed Boss in the Foundation section of the shop. No one seemed to know it was there. I was stoked.
Watching Brodie Smith and Ezra Aderhold (edit: and *GG*, how could I forget him?) be blown away by his 360 distance on that 1280' par 5 at Preserve (which he reached in 2) put it in perspective. Wiggins' tee shot on that hole was so fast everyone lost it in the air, standing there in person, not just us watching on video.🤯
very interesting interview -thanks Trevor
They actually had the Finnish Disc Golf distance throw Nationals competition on TV here in Finland few weeks ago. On a friday, in the middle of the evening, on a TV channel every single household has.
Small tip, if you slightly modify a teleprompter you can both look at the camera and your guest. Great interview!
He should go the Bryson route and make videos about him bombing - people would eat that stuff up
As far as weight training goes to improve distance, what workouts would be optimal to improve distance?
I followed him for a round on Throw Down the Mountain this year
I have lighter discs that I throw but I’ve never had a lightweight overstable disc. Getting one soon
Hope to see you out at city park some day maybe you’ll let me tag along and get some throwing tips
I think Speed records at Bonneville need to be backed up by another pass going the opposite direction, and then averaged. Maybe something like that for distance competitions.
David Wiggins Jr is going to be gaining lots of fans!
I really don’t know why it gets to me so much but the Further and Farther thing does. Farrrrrrrr is anything to do with physical distance. This is the easy one. Just say farther. Pretty self explanatory. I realize this is an internal issue I have but I immediately zone out when I hear further used for physical distance. He throws FARTHER than me. I’m FURTHER along in the book than him.
Cool dude.
Very interesting interview! I'm embarrassed to say I had never heard of David until you guys mentioned him on Grip Locked
That lighter disc thing, I had an 'Ah Ha" moment about 2 months ago and decided to pick me up a 145g DX Valkyrie. The first time I threw it, I had about a 15 mph tail wind and still flipped it into a roller. LOL! I completely agree with a lighter disc but they can be too light.🤣
I love the DX Valkyrie. Cheap disc that could go a long way. I use the champion plastic for forehands. My Valkyries are 167-168 grams though.
For speed records they disallow the numbers if the wind is too high
For the lighter weight discs since I’m a forehand only player should I copy Ricky with the lighter weight destroyers 167 and 168? For reference my furthest sidearm is 411ft with a RaskZ (173g) on the field and 420ft with an Esp Force (173-174) on the course measured with a range finder). How much would It really matter with that weight difference 167-168 vs 173-174?
Into the wind you will get less distance with a light disc. For an extreme example think of throwing a beach ball into the wind then a basketball (basketball will go further)....but then weight has diminishing returns....think of throwing a bowling ball into the wind (cant generate the power to launch it but the wind won't effect it much). With the wind, lighter discs go further. Crosswind heavier discs will have a "calmer" or more consistent flight.
@@dboenish so basically heavier discs for consistency and accuracy vs lighter discs less accurate but more distance. But wind can change this a bit
@@ForehandDiscReviews yes that’s my experience with max weight vs light weight. Good luck! Go get some new discs and start chucking, especially with a nice 15 mph wind. Throw all angles. Tail, head, both sides of the cross wind. You will learn a lot. Every disc flies much better in calm conditions but when you dial up the wind you see some discs will be much more consistent. Not necessarily more over stable but just consistent and less touchy.
@@dboenish nice man thanks appreciate it
For throws over 400’ each MPH of disc speed adds approximately 8’. (Similarly 10 mph of head wind takes off 80’.) Not exact science but 10 grams is about 3mph or 25’
If I remember correctly the wise words are "Slow is smooth, smooth is far" :)
Mythbusters used an aircraft hanger for the Helium football myth. They should try and gain acess, set up a tee-pad and invite anyone who wants to challenge the distance record.
Secret to max distance.....is.....throw far. 😀
Get Danny Corbett from OTB on!
I love your show but work on your interviewing techniques and questions. 🤘❤️
