I loved my KLR650 from 2002. 65000 miles of fun and desperation 😅
The grey and green one?
@@jeanpequignot80 it was blue and white, EU version
Helluva ride!
Did you ever do the doo?
Well described..fun and desperation
You are a spectacular man. You toured us free of charge across the international border to Mexico and gave us a very good conclusion about the veracity of the 'Kawasaki KLR 650 adventure' for such fire and hard off-road terrain tasks. Thank you very much for your very generous input.
What a treat to have a feature-length episode. Thanks for bringing us along. Little KLR did good. Would love to see more of these, but appreciate the difficulties. But thanks again!
2008 klr owner. Never had a vehicle which was so easy to work on! Even with the weaker braking ability I've never gotten in a bad situation.
I am a new owner and new rider. I picked up my 2023 KLR 650 adventure last week and have been riding it every day. This looks like a great trip, something I want to do someday. Thank you for posting.
Lucky to have as a first bike, congrats !
@@leeinwisThank you! Just need to work up to some longer trips. Ride safe.
A one hour and fourteen minute video with no chapters at all. Brave . . . very brave.
Damm KLR's!
Been riding for many years, and I always want a KLR again. Owned several.
Not a bad thing to have a KLR in the stable.
Thanks for the review.
Riding a KLR in Baja is a highlight in your life for sure! Viva la vida!!!
I enjoy how people consider the KLR "little," but, when I ride with a GS1200, Triumph Tiger, a big Tenere or Vstrom, they all flop around helplessly and lay down in rock gardens, single track, and tricky hill climbs while the KLR just breezes through! Let's not even talk about having to pull one of those nasty new HD PanAmericans out of a ditch last weekend!
You LIE!!! 😂 Just kidding! I have a Pan Am and that's my biggest fear is that the bike is heavy and has a lot of power on the low end, so it would just dig itself deeper. I was thinking of a Kawasaki KLR or Benelli 502x. Yes it's chinese, but BMWs are mostly Chinese along with Harley as well (parts).
I picked up my KLR four days ago. I'm blown away by how pleasurable it is to ride. Whatever direction I go I don't want to turn it around and come back. My marriage is fine, it's just so much fun..
I've recently purchased a 2023 Adventure bike for 5800 I love this bike it's amazingly tight and stable it's all that and more...best lights and comfortable.cant get much better without 10 plus thousand Dollars
Great video Adam, that’s a bucket list ride for sure. Ride safe my friend!
Of course I love every motorcycle and would love to have at least one of each, but that’s not in the budget. Thanks for the video. If I ever have to endure the apocalypse the first thing I am stealing is a KLR650! Looks like they have really improved this bike.
Love mine. I have that year and model. Scary AF in the high wind, though. Been 10K of fun so far.
Try a CRF300 rally in the high wind lol .Btw I also just turned over 10K on my CRF , thinkin of adding a KLR to the garage.
Sorry big miss with the audio definitely a voiceover would’ve fit the bill. Or 80% voiceover and 20% of the best original audio. Too bad because I do like his work. Okay there’s always next time. Cheers mate
Or captions.
Bueno, bonito, y barato; getting close to engineering perfection and hard cases open against the wind too.
Thanks for putting out this great motorcycle content. I pick up my KLR650 adventure tomorrow
I was going to get this but because of budget I got the ct125 from honda
I know it was supposed to be a KLR test, but that looked suspiciously like a foodie/beersky tour 🙃
Thanks Adam and friends, was a fun ride
no worries on the audio. 💩 happenz 🙂
That's a tour that I want in on!
Great job Adam, this is the most natural (?) I've heard you sound in a long time.
The Adam doesn’t care
@@Fee.1 Maybe, maybe not.
Great review. May have changed my thoughts on my first adventure bike. 👍
Awesome video…. Actually watched the whole thing. Looking forward to the low suspension model.
Brilliantly done as usual Adam!!! Love the fluffy cat BTW. Ride safe out there brother 😉😎🔥
Great video, Thanks for taking us along.
Bummer on the mic but still very understandable. It happens! Thanks for the KLR discussion while cruising around - I enjoyed the review.
Thanks man. "Always something," lol.
I have the same one the adventure. Just had the fuel pump recalled on it , I just got it back today I’m so happy 2 weeks felt like 2 years 😂😂
You definitely took us on a wonderful adventure thank
Beautiful scenery terrific video I’ve been to go Guadalupe Valley and Ensenada from the cruise ships
it’s a beautiful place good wine good food good terrain terrific shopping
Big Adam hair & big motorcycle adventures =awesomeness!
Got to love the exhaust already rusting. The finish on these is absolutely abysmal and I still somehow need one in my life. Funny how that works😂
He can " fudge the rules that apply to us in the USA " as he almost takes out the pedestrian the taxi stopped for.
Nice K...........L........R..............................................six.................fifty .......................ad....venture!
This was great! And a bonus cameo from Jon Beck to top it off 🤗. Cheers
Weird that the DRZ doesn’t have much of this and it’s still more reliable and about 5HP LESS.
I cannot believe Kawasaki went through the trouble of putting EFI on the KLR without fixing the Doohicky and giving it a 6th gear.
The KLR could have been a legitimate contender for a budget ADV bike in this new generation of bikes like the T7 and 890 Adv but the carburetor wasn’t really that big of an issue compared to the lack of 6th gear.
I mean, a Hayabusa has 6 gears if you want to go fast
@@danmanthe9335 not about the speed. The klr doesn’t have enough power to pull a 6th gear with speed. 6th gear is for lowering rpm and lessoning the vibrations
The Doohicky is a worse myth than Covid. Ask a Kawi mechanic, they have never replaced one that failed. Iv had 48k miles on 2 and never considered replacing one. If u want 6th gear, there are plenty of other over complicated over priced options to choose from. But there is zero competition in the KLR department. Them adding EFI and digital display and not adding price is a major win for us and its selling like crazy.
@@tieoneon1614 The so-called doohickey was fixed in '08 after the 1st gen. Amazing how 'Eagle-Mike' still makes money from his hysteria over this non-issue. Or 'watt-man'
@@zelph1844 amazing how many people want to argue with me and you, without them ever owning a KLR. I appreciate the back up
Best KLR review I’ve seen! 👍
Audio listenable from @ 43:35 onwards. Really unfortunate about the audio :(
Big hair & big motorcycle adventures! 👍
Hello , Did you get extra insurance for your motorcycle? If yes , where did you get it? regards, Tom
Adam, your a legend.
You all are some lucky Hombres , what tires are you running ? Im looking to replace my bald Dunlaps with the longest life 60/40 tires that are costs effective.
20:15 what is a Richard Gere subframe
It will only hold a Pretty Woman
@@danberry3417@ 20:09 it sounds like he’s rebooting for the next 10 seconds. Like he is doing an echo impression. 😂
It definitely sounds like the audio looped or an ai smoothing audio glitch
@@danberry3417 I think it was him that glitched but true
Good review😊
Great video,,sound horrible.just bought 650, three days ago..put maybe 85 miles running b n f 2 wmart.i already love this thing..rides like a caddy,but the hp,,what hp? Recently owned 22 Busa and 21 Zh2,,combined 390 horse.if I had more money,,would grab a Tiger 900,super Duke adv,,or multistrada..if u don't mind being smoked by priuses,,stop l. 2 stoplight,,this is the bike 4 you..great job,,fix the vid.
Well I never would have thought a third world country like Mexico would require, or worry about a motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license.
Gorgeous views!!
Go up 4 teeth on back for off roading
How is this bike cruising at 80? Is there any power left?
No. It's done around there. Will pull big highway hills at 65-70 without any more throttle than level ground
@@BD-ww7go weird
I've had my '18 klr doing 85 (I-35 around semi's)....and I've never had an end of throttle experience
what scares you are crosswinds
Tall, lots of fairing, and a 21" front wheel
@@joeblow5037 oh jeez I don't miss i-35. Thanks for the info.
If they fixed the oil consumption it might have been awesome!
it was fixed a long time ago.
my 2018 uses zero oil......and a lot of time I'm doing 75 miles or so at 5500+ rpm
I do believe that was an 08/09 problem they fixed with a new oil control ring
@@joeblow5037 Let's hope. My '08 was an oil burner. Still on the break-in oil on my '23.
Fingers crossed.
@@xnihilo1044 yea, pretty sure '08 was the bad oil ring year
@@xnihilo1044there’s no such thing as break in oil on modern production vehicles. FYI
That’s news to me. Even the dealer said so.
What do they use? Mineral or syn?
Why would anyone try to hurt a perfectly good vehicle?🤔
I owned a 2016 KLR 650. It was too heavy and underpowered. I bought a KTM 390 adventure. 100 pounds lighter with same horsepower as KLR and Msrp $6100. TFT dash, adjustable suspension, stability control, and Led headlight.
What, by your estimation, is the top speed of this bike? Is 85mph cruising truly reasonable? In the market to get one. I live in Colorado, a place with large interstate miles that need to be retired. Know it can handle other things but want reasonable times to get there.
Buenos dias Adam!!!
Unkillable Pig ?
No way in hell would I go 7,600 miles on an oil change. I would be changing every 3 to 3.5k miles
3K would be my absolute limit. 2.5k is when I change.
Definitely not unbreakable. I broke the frame on my 2022 klr650 after 4000km and only from a standing drop. Weak bike, not recommended.
Is the doohickey finally fixed from the factory? If not, still breakable.
Nope - still the same design. The best KLR650 is a DR650, an XR650 or better yet, a DRZ400S ;) and this is from a former Gen 2 KLR owner.
Dr650 has a NSU bolt issue and can grenade your motor. Every bike has its problems. Klr for commuting and travel. Dr for light commuting and dirt. Owned both.
@@dothetontim except neither of those will cruise comfortably at 75 or 80
Doohickey is a cheap and easy fix
@@danmanthe9335 exactly, so why hasn’t Kawasaki fixed the issue ?
Hello!
Jesus your hair is getting wilder with each day
Durable and reliable only after you do the doohicky upgrade
Hi bro I am a motorcycle machanic I'm looking a job
KewL Ride
Let's go Brandon
Not getting the political reference here. Are KLR owners mostly Brandon supporters?
@@user-si8zf9hy1b Nah, it's just a new phrase that they added to their already tiny vocabulary.
Let's go you're brain dead.....
@@claytonluke81😂😂😂😂 Clever, you are so funny lol you made my day lololololol
Typical American scared of Mexico😂 let me put a 100lbs chain on
sp*c
I hate this bike. It’s so boring.
save your hate for your ex-wife
The KLR didnt take the house....and half your stuff 👩🦰
The bike doesn't care.
Just put a pipe on it, way better.
@@doublex632 yea....I put a 94db LeoVince on mine. REAL baffles, no packing.
It sounds amazing....and acording to their dyno charts is worth 3 hp.
@@joeblow5037 ROFL!!
Good video but had to ditch it over the audio.
you could have just skipped ahead, like I did
@@joeblow5037 I watched 3/4 of it.
