      The French are behind the Poles and Germans and the Germans have many US soldiers. Hence France is protected. France also has nuclear weapons and is a big ally in terms of business for Russia. The French are just being d1cks. They want to prove they're important but they're not. South Africa had nuclear weapons too. And probably better ones than the French. We in central Europe and former Warsaw Pact will remember how France sees our existential interests and this will sour relations into the future. The difference between Stalin's USSR and the western allies is that Stalin would have enthusiastically joined Hitler in conquest and horrific crimes if only Hitler would have gone for that. The western allies never would have entertained anything like that. Also the 400,000+ trucks and 10s of thousands of tanks and other vehicles and aircraft sent to the USSR by the west turned Stalin's 19th century foot army into a mechanized force able to compete with German forces - if not for that the Germans would have ran circles around Soviet forces.

      How pathetic does Sunak sound c/f the BoJo (and previously Truss) quote(s)?
      "Oooh, oooh, he's upset global energy markets! He's not playing by the rules! How dare he!"
      No moral condemnation of the aggression, the propaganda lies, the war crimes, no commitment to the vision of Ukraine as the next free Slavic democracy, to leading Europe in funding it, just some weak statement that global energy markets have been upset.
      It's terrible the power Putin was ceded over Western energy supplies, but markets and market participants adapt. Poland had foresight and built a LNG import terminal (& gassification plant, presumably) at Świnoujście (at least). Germany were caught out, but then moved to build three (?) LNG receiving terminals in quick order and global energy prices are reverting (slowly but steadily) to the norm.
      The Telegraph's view of Sunak's lack of commitment is told to us by the quote they chose.

    Both Russian and Ukrainian losses are w.a.g. Unfortunately, I think Ukrainian losses are probably dramatically underreported, given how badly things are going for them in the Solidar/Bakhmut area.
    It looks as if Ukraine needs more machine guns and soldiers on the front line, along with better combined drone and artillery use against Wagner, and better officers.

      It's funny about Bakhmut, the Russians have been trying to take it for well over half a year, and there it still is. Wagner just hasn't been all that effective at anything other than turning Russian Prisoners into Russian Corpses.

    • @michaelwoods1924
      @michaelwoods1924 Год назад

      @@dancahill9585 I wish that were true, but I am skeptical because Ukr. has gradually lost ground to Wagner for 4+ months and is about to lose the roads/rail/rivers/mines at Bakhmut/Soledar. Ukr. got Kherson and gained ground toward Izyum, but failed to prevent the Russians from escaping with most of their men and gear. We've been hearing for months that Ukr. was going to kill 3:1 Russians by resisting offensives and that Ukr. was waiting for the ground to freeze before using its own (hundreds of tanks per the Oryx site that all news outlets cited) tanks and making offensives, so why is Ukr. retreating from Wagner and is the ground frozen yet? Ukr. needs to be better than this; it doesn't help to make excuses or for UK/USA allies to lie to ourselves.

    Omaha Beach. A place where thousands of real heroes gave their lives in the fight against fascism. These heroes, Americans and Englishmen, and their feat are forever inscribed in history. People won't forget them. But they were forgotten by Joe Biden, who supports the fascists who seized power in Ukraine, sending them American missiles and tanks to help them. Boris Johnson, who thanks Biden for helping the new fascists, also does not remember the names of the heroes. The memory of the heroes of the past, of their great sacrifice, is destroyed by Olaf Scholz, who sends German tanks with crosses to the war with Russia. Again... But people remember June 6, 1944. We all have to remember. If we want to live to see this day.
