Cynthia, If you want one of the big ATG, the pink one is tricky but most popular. I hope there's one you like, but if not, I did a video on small tape runners and which work best. Here's the link to that video. ruclips.net/video/CeJKJpkDcPQ/видео.html
This is the best glue runner review video on You Tube!! The information was very helpful and informative, especially the parts that showed how well the different types actually adhere. TFS :)
Marilyn, Thanks so much for such a nice note. I just finished my video on wet glues and have to divide it in two parts because I tested twenty (crazy, I know), glues. I was really surprised at the results and bet you will be as well. I tested for how quickly they grip the paper, if they smell bad, price, whether they dried clear or left a shine and then if the ones that were supposed to be shiny, were. I also went into a lot of detail on fine tip applicators. It should be up in the next few days and that you'll let me know what you think. Sandy
Wow! I had just been thinking of getting an ATG gun for several reasons. I do seem to go through tape more frequently lately mostly because of being inspired by all the great crafters on RUclips as well as it does seem very wasteful to throw away more than half the tape runner when I change the tape. I use the Tombow runner. After watching your reviews I think I am going to keep using the Tombow! Periodically I have pain in my fingers and hands and I use my crafting to take my mind off hurting. If I can't use my tape runner it's not going to be much of a respite! Please don't feel like you shouldn't talk about pain when using a tool! That's what I really need to know before I invest my scrap budget on something. I know everyone's situation is different but when you described the ATG gun as top heavy I said "Bingo" that is not for me. The constant torking of my wrist would wear me out. Thank you so much for the thoughtfulness of your videos.
+Jennifer S Jennifer, Thank you for your very kind message. I really wanted to be honest in these videos and balance that with the fact that I rarely (never) discuss my health, but I know that people really need to know the things I hate talking about. I'm happy to do it, though, knowing people like you will benefit from it. I like the Tombow tape runners too, but bought a ton of the snails, so will use those until I run out and then onto Tombow. I'm also going to use all of the tape guns in videos though, because it's helpful for others to see them in use (more than running one line.) Plus I have them, so should use them right? Sandy
I love my scotch ATG gun and it really depends on the quality of the tape you buy. My son is also left handed. I’m a small person too. Great that you mentioned physical disability allowing people to make an informed choice.
There are a lot of videos that show you how to make a cardboard shim for the Scotch ATG gun to keep the tape on the straight and narrow, haha...Here's a link to one and this should help no matter what tape you buy. ruclips.net/video/QI7UUMMsaQI/видео.html I know a lot of people swear by these guns but left handed people can't see where the tape is going as the machine blocks that view. I created my channel specifically for people with physical limitations as so many YTers would tell you a tool will work if you have hand/wrist issues and actually they have no idea if that's the case...clearly you know if I say that, I know if a tool will work or not for people with wrist/hand issues. Glad you love your ATG gun. Sandy
I'm so glad you liked it. If you are left handed, rule out the big pink one as you can't see where you are laying the tape as it's on the other side of your hand...Crazy they didn't think about people being left handed. I honestly don't love any of them as the refills are really expensive. I prefer to use tear tape as it's easy to use, inexpensive, minimal waste and best of all, I can easily use it. I am going to do a video like this on the small tape runners and did one on wet glues. That video is nuts as I compared over 20 different glues. Here's the link in case you are looking for the best wet glue for you...Hope this helps. By the way, I'm always looking for things people would like me to cover in a video. if you have another product that you want to find the perfect one for you, please let me know and if I haven't already done a video on it, I'd be happy to do one. Sandy ruclips.net/video/O4GsEnT1hMw/видео.html
This was a wonderful review with many options. I am fortunate in that my Scotch ATG 714 works very well for me and has never acted up. I have had it forever and have eliminated all tape adhesives with the exception of this tool and the tear tape. Makes me happy to find an in-depth review that I feel comfortable recommending to others, because I know quite a few people who have issues with their hands and wrists. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!
+ScrapofKindness Thanks for your very thoughtful note. I really wish I could find one of the bigger guns that I can use effectively and decided I should start using all of my guns in videos so people can really see them in action. Please let your friends know about my channel as I have done a lot of reviews on products for people that need it. In fact, it's the reason I started the channel, because I couldn't find anyone to help me decide which tools would work for me..Sandy
so happy i found this video and you mentions the rethreading video for the glue arts glue glider...I was about to chuck mine out because i was so mad at it but your info helped me to get it working again yay!!!! ty so much!!!
So glad to help. Tape runners especially the big one, are so hard to rethread. I think they must think we are all rocket scientists.. Thanks for your note! Sandy
Thanks for the review! I absolutely love my Scotch ATG tape runner. I buy the Scotch refills on Amazon Prime. I watched the videos for refilling it. After the first couple of times I found it to be really easy and takes no time at all. Scotch offers permanent and repositional tape for the refills. I used the permanent for a long time. It is indeed permanent and does not allow for repositioning when you lay it down. I now use the repositional since I sometimes don't get the card on the way I want it. Even the repositional tape is very strong.
Wow I am so glad I watched this. I was going to ask my hubby to get me the ATG for Christmas this year. But I am not going to do it now. For one I am a lefty so I am look you if I can not see where the glue is there is no point in getting it and 2 I can not hold heavy things in my left hand or either hands for every long so You just helped me out a lot. Thank you again.
So glad you didn't buy these guns as I haven't found any that are really great for us lefties..You might want to stick to the small tape runners (I have a video for them as well, haha)....
Sandy, Thank you for doing this video. I am disabled (I have MS) and Because of that, I have so many problems with my hands. This has helped me Out much, to chose which one is best for me. Laura
Laura, You might want to watch this video with smaller tape runners. ruclips.net/video/CeJKJpkDcPQ/видео.html I've found the larger ATG are hard for me to handle and prefer the smaller ones, just my opinion. I also like tear tape and use it when I need to really adhere things. Hope I helped.....Sorry to hear of your MS, and if I can help with a video on things you struggle with in crafting, please let me know, and I'd be happy to try to find a way around it....Sandy
So glad I can help. I also made videos on wet glues, small tape runners and glue sticks. If you type any of those into the search box on my channel, you'll find them if you are interested. I compared so many wet glues, it was amazing...
I have been able to use the ATG. I have not done any big projects so time will tell. To not get the glue bumps you need to take it to the side when done. I think your idea of getting it where you can return it if necessary is a great idea!! I got mine at a thrift store for $3.25. Thank you for yet another great video!!!!!
+Elizabeth Dindal Thanks Elizabeth, are you right handed? I think that's the worst part for me, not being able to see where I'm running the tape. I've seen people do that technique with that Stampin' Up serious adhesive, but don't remember seeing anyone use it with their Scotch gun. Sandy
If any of your viewers can use the ATG and have a bunch of friends who need refills, you can get a gross from The Tape Depot; the cost works out to about $1.16 per roll. I ordered a gross - 144 rolls- myself about 5 years ago and I'm going to have to place another order in about 3 months. It's definitely an understatement to say I use my ATG all the time! This is definitely the best option for me, otherwise I would go broke buying refills! :)
Great idea. If any of you are interested, I will vouch for Linda and tell you she's my friend, Linda that gives me all kinds of crafting advice. Linda, how about you give them contact information here so they can email you if they are interested in getting ATG. Those are the ones the frugal crafter uses aren't they? If they are the ones like in the video, then they are the same ones. Sandy
Thanks so much for sharing your personal issues using these products. I love my Scotch ATG. You have to release the trigger, then tilt the ATG back as you continue to pull. It takes a minute to perfect; also, it’s better to start and stop in straight lines or shallow curves rather than attempting wide curves.
I hope other viewers will read your comment so they can get the hang of it. I think for me, it was all about being left handed and never knowing where the tape was landing, that made it impossible for me to use these and enjoy them. I know a lot of crafters love these tools.
@@craftingforalmosteveryone I always thought the tape should sit in the middle of the roller instead of on the end, where it can fall off. Since watching your video, I guess they put it there for right-handed people to see. Pity it’s not an option. Also, I think it needs a cover for the tape end. I phoned the company, but the representative wasn’t interested in my suggestion. Thanks again and have a great day!
@@craftingforalmosteveryone I think there’s a way for you to pin my comment if you want people to see how to use the ATG. Or you could copy and paste my text into your description.
I just came home from a trip that ended in London. You have a beautiful country and I was so happy I got to see it for myself. It seems anymore, about the only places you can find craft tools are in online stores. We have craft stores but their prices are outrageous unless they have a big sale which is rare. I stopped using any guns for tape and instead use mainly tear tape, double sided tape..it's easy to use and since I lay it in place, I know exactly where it ends up. Lindsay the frugal crafter uses the Scotch ATG gun and she buys her refills in bulk. Here are the ones she uses. www.amazon.com/T-R-U-ATG-7502-Tape-Adhesive-Transfer/dp/B01CV08Z5S/ref=as_li_ss_tl?dchild=1&keywords=atg+gun&qid=1588344647&s=arts-crafts&sr=1-7&linkCode=sl1&tag=frugalcrafter-20&linkId=1cad1967b7ba4f04f75edd7f0f2697e2&language=en_US
Thank you for this video. The Zyron tape runner has dots which is helpful when adding adhesive to paper that have die cuts. While gliding the tape across the paper, it's not supposed to adhere to the areas that have cuts.
+Raven Skye Raven, I'm really glad to help. If you have any other products that you'd like recommendations on, I'd be happy to make a video on it. I just finished typing in all of the information in the comment area above if you wanted to see it. Sandy
I didn't think I'd like the Scotch ATG because of the size but now that I have it, I love it. I had the Xyron mega runner but I had a lot of problems with it. The refills were also very expensive in Canada.
I'm so glad you love your ATG. I also found the Xyron refills to be expensive...and the only ones that aren't are for the big one...and I can't see where I'm running the tape, since I'm left handed and the tape is on the other side of the machine, darn it....
The timing on this is perfect for me! I have been debating on the Scotch tape runner. I think I would have a hard time with it. I haven't tried the tape runners. I think I will stick to tear tape and wet glue. I fell in love with the art glitter glue!
+Jesse b I've thought about buying the art glitter glue but have about 100 different bottles of glue I should use first. Do you have the fine point on your bottle? I really have a hard time using those as well and wish I could find one that I can use. Thanks for the note and I hope it helped. If you need more product info, I just finished typing it all into the comment section.Sandy
+Crafting For Almost Everyone I don't have the super fine tip. I have the one in this link. www.maymaymadeit.com/products/replacement-tip-or-refill-bottle-tip. I bought the 8 oz bottle. I like Maymay's channel and she uses it all the time. I find that the glue dries SUPER fast and holds well. I had been using tombow and I liked it but the bottles are tiny and I make too many cards for that. The 8 oz bottle is also the least expensive size per oz. The bottle is comfortable in my hand and requires almost no squeezing. You only get a moment to shift the paper before it is locked down. For my die cuts that are about 4x4 I use 9 dots of glue. For me mod podge bowed my paper white glue bowed the paper tacky glue is REALLY hard to squeeze Yes paste is great for collage and book covers but lousy on cards. tombow works well but needs a bigger size art glitter has no bowing, almost no drying time, uses very little, is strong, comes in an 8 oz bottle and a 75 cent lid means I don't have to pour the bottle into a smaller one.
Just a FYI you can get all of these at Michaels Craft store and you can always use a 40%off coupon. Except the stampin up runner. I love that you show so many different things:)
I was just researching these - I purchased the Xyron BEFORE researching and thought I would check out the Glue Arts Glider Pro as a back up and WOW - that bugger is up to over $40 on Amazon for the handle and one insert! I will stick with my Xyron and continue to use my smaller refillable ones, as well.
I've never used a large glue gun with any kind of luck. Since I'm left-handed, I can't see where the tape ends up when using the big pink gun. You'd think they would have had a version for left handed people, and maybe they do now, but not when I was shopping for them. I use a variation of small tape runners, tear tape and wet glues. My favorite wet glue is the Bearly Art glue because I can squeeze the glue out of their fine tip applicator and that's the only glue I can do that with.
@@craftingforalmosteveryone I had never used a large tape runner but I do like the size of the Xyron. My favorites are the smaller ones and I have had good success with the Elmer’s brand, of all things. LOL. For wet I like Art Glitter, but I honestly haven’t tried any others since before times. Your comparison was great, thanks for sharing!
Very nice informative video, Sandy! I am thinking about getting a dispenser, because these tiny runners are empty so fast, that I am left without in the middle of my projects, even though I always buy 2 refills. Thanks for this insight!
Are you left or right handed? The big pink one is impossible to use if you are left handed because you can't see where you are taping. I wish I could have found one I loved. Give the girls a rub for me. Sandy
I'm right handed. The oxyron I would have to order in the US, especially for the refills, I think that is too much of a hassle. I might look into the Scotch one, I am not sure ...
Thank you for providing so much information pertaining to the different types of tape dispensers. I have been struggling with whether or not to purchase the Scotch ATG because of its size and question of comfort in my hand. I have issues with my thumbs. Some of the other tape dispensers, of the smaller size, I've had issues with the tape breaking after only a few uses. I have been unable to take them apart to fix them, so I end up having to buy another dispenser. I just recently bought the Recollections brand, but haven't used it enough to make any concrete decisions as to whether I am satisfied with it. Again, thank you for being so thorough.
Gloria, I did another video on small tape runners and here's the link. ruclips.net/video/CeJKJpkDcPQ/видео.html I've had trouble with the tape breaking too, and what I discovered is this. If the tape starts pulling away from the unit (you have what looks like a loop on the outside that shouldn't be there), if I stop right then and open it and wind it back inside, it won't break. If I try to make the tape runner continue without fixing that loop, it will break the tape. I hope that helps....And if I break a tape runner, I'll take the tape that hasn't been used and rub it on my project and then remove the backing paper, and that way I don't waste it. If you have any other tool you'd like me to do a video on, please let me know and I'll give it a try...Sandy
Great review! Just what I was looking for. For future reference, I have been using the Scotch "snail" type. Can't stand it. It only works about half the time. I have to get it "going" on another piece of paper, wasting a lot. And when it doesn't work, it's sharp and makes indents that show on the other side of the paper. I think I'll bite the bullet and go for the ATG. I don't really like how big it is, but if it works, I like how price efficient and environmentally friendly the refills are. Just my $.02 worth. Thanks again for a great review!
Angela, The big pink ATG is the one everyone buys. If you are left handed, you will hate it as you can't see where your tape is ending up on the paper. Additionally, anyone who tells you it's easy to refill is lying and every time I hand mine to Rich to refill, it's like I killed his dog...he hates that ATG that much. I am working on another video for best small tape runners and don't understand why no one has developed one of these that is easy to refill, smaller and economical to use. It's so frustrating for me as well because they are so bulky and hard to use. For my $.02, I really prefer using tear tape as I can rip it, control where it goes and it's cheap to use. I know it's a pain to take the backing off of it, but I don't have to handle a bulky tool. Plus it's probably one of the most price friendly and great for the environment as you only have the paper backing as opposed to something plastic that the rest of the ATGs have. I just wanted to make sure you have all of the facts and hope I haven't overstepped. Sandy
You are my new hero. :) Two comments already. :) Thank you for reviewing the guns. I have an ATG and I always said it is top heavy. I use the tape without the gun. I was taught the tip by a sweet framing lady at Hobby Lobby. Recently when I shared that tip on a forum I post at one of the ladies said I use it like tear tape. I guess it is kind of the same concept. I don't use tear tape. I really love ATG tape but I don't like the gun. I read your comments I am going to look up tear tape on Ebay.
I can give you some links at Aliexpress for very inexpensive tear tape. Don't laugh, but I also found it easier to use the tape for the ATG gun without the gun, but didn't really want to show it on camera as I was afraid people would think I was nuts, but if you are left handed, you can't see where the tape is going with the big pink gun, so I can tape anything and never know what I taped until I move the gun and that's not right....so our system is much more effective. And smart if I do say so myself, because I don't make my husband cry when he sees that gun coming toward him to refill it...haha. So glad you like the channel and if you want links for tear tape, I'm your girl. www.aliexpress.com/item/10-Rolls-6mm-18m-White-Double-Sided-Adhesive-Tape-Sticker-High-Quality-Gel-Adhesive-Double-Sided/32789480831.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.qV22Qt Sandy
Wow! I didn't know that was tear tape. I thought it was double sided tape. I have been ordering that tape for years, lol. Things you learn. I never tore the tape. I am always cutting. Thank you for sharing the link. I am appreciative. I think you should show the ATG rolling trick. I get asked all the time how to do that but it is hard for me to explain. I tell everyone I would make a video but I am not really set up to do that right now in my life. Hopefully soon. I do know a lot of people who want to learn that trick. I don't think anyone would think your nuts. I am left handed too but hold the ATG gun in my right hand. I use my right hand for a lot of things. Mean teacher's in school trying to force things they shouldn't, lol. My DH gets that look too when I need the gun refilled, lol. I just put my ATG's in the donation bag I am donating to a church for Hurricane Irma crafting donations.
I'm not sure if I named it tear tape or if I heard that name, so I might have just lead you astray with my crazy crafty vocabulary. Don't cut it, it's so fun to tear. We lefties mostly do things with both hands because that's how we were taught. I can't control the weight of the ATG in my right hand unfortunately. I'd love to know the rolling trick though. Do you just use the tape and not the ATG since you're donating it. I have done that a lot, but not on video. I think they should be able to develop an ATG that isn't top heavy and is easy to fill and use. Seems simple enough..(Like I would know.) Thanks for the nice note and I love that you are donating at church for the hurricane victims and hope you saw my video on helping as well. Sandy
I am using the tape. I am probably rolling it like you do. I just lay down the tape like the double sided "tear tape" and peel off the backing. I did see your video about helping Hurricane survivors. I think that is so wonderful. I have been helping a couple of churches in my area with donations and supplies. Today I went to the shelter to see how I could help with the animals. That turned out to be a hot mess and they are not coordinated at all. I am about ready to do a big book donation to one of my churches so we can help the survivor's rebuild their libraries and also help the schools rebuild their libraries too.
I give you credit for going where the animals are...I absolutely couldn't do it as I would be crying and taking home a car load. I love that you are helping and I'll do anything I can to help as well. Are you near Florida or Texas as you sound like you are very close to the floods....If you live in Florida, would you email me at saundralparker@yahoo.com, as I'd like a little help with my project there and I think you could help...Sandy
Thank you for this video - it’s very helpful. However, after I saw how weak the adhesion was when you used the Scotch ATG gun, I was surprised so tried mine. I was so disappointed when you pointed out how weak a bond it was. That being said, when I put down one strip on regular copy paper (perhaps I should have tried a heavier weight but I’d never had issues in the past with adhering poster board to cardboard) it immediately bonded into a STRONG bond. As far as I know, it’s the scotch brand, but it MIGHT be a generic tape... I did buy some online and I can’t tell which tape I tested today since it was already in the gun...the grip is amazingly strong. I just wish the gun was a little easier to handle.... I tend to use it more for physically larger projects than card making.
My entire problem with the ATG guns is the bulkiness and the fact that I'm left handed and can't see where the tape is being applied. I think the tape I used was a generic version that Lindsay the frugal crafter uses. I'm also not sure how long I had the tape before I tried it, but don't think it was long enough to weaken it. Thanks for your comment...Sandy
Sandy, thanks so much for this review! It has saved me a bundle because I was really looking at the Scotch gun. I appreciate you doing the comparisons of so many types. And for checking for the best places to get them. I will get both the small on and the Glue Arts. They will work great for my situation. Keep up the good work. You help us so much!
+Cynthia Richter Cynthia, I'm really glad you liked the video. You might want to buy the Tombow tape runners at Michaels or Joanns, as they are just like the snails only a lot less expensive. Glad I could help and if you have any other products you'd like me to recommend, please just let me know. Sandy
I have heard how great the pink ATG is but the size and weight always made me stop. I'm a dental hygienist and after 40 plus years full time my thumbs are starting to hurt daily. So I don't think I'll risk any more pain trying a new tape system. I want to keep working. I use the small blue tapes from Hobby Lobby that come 10 in a pack. Plus the 40% off is great. Thank you!
I don't recommend the big tape runners because they're so bulky and the pink one, I couldn't see where the tape lays, since I'm left handed. I like the small tape runners too. Did you hear Hobby Lobby is discontinuing their 40% off coupons the end of this month? Sad... Thanks for the nice note. Sandy
Thank you so much. I just ran out of tape and was wondering if I should switch brands so called in here for some sage advice. You saved my poor brain a lot of decision making today.
I'm so glad I could help. I just did a video that my husband needs to edit on wet glues, so if you are needing to find a wet glue that works for you, I tested 21 different wet glues so you'd know which worked quick and were invisible when dry. The results were really interesting. I hope you'll stop by and check it out when it goes up in a couple of days. I've tried to test just about every type of tool to help people find the best ones for them and to save your brain, it's too valuable to waste! I hope to hear from you again! Sandy
Hello Sandy, this is a very comprehensive and informative video about the adhesive runners. Thanks a lot for doing it. You mentioned that you like snails but their hold is not strong. To the best of my knowledge they are not supposed to be permanent. Stampin up has another glue runner which is permanent so you might like it better. Also, I saw on amazon similar permanent fuses that you might prefer price wise. I know this video is old and you most likely already have this information. I wanted you to know just in case. Happy Crafting :)
Thanks for your ideas. I've been using a lot of tear tape as it holds, and although the small tape dispensers are handy, they aren't very cost effective, and if you haven't seen it yet, I made another video on wet glues, and have roughly twenty-five bottles of those to use. I like to try to cover as many products as possible in these videos (there's also one for the small tape runners), and I accumulate a lot of products in doing so. I'm never at a loss for glue/tape type products. haha..Thanks again for your ideas and I'll check into the permanent fuses on Amazon...Sandy
I agree with you on small tape dispensers not being cost effective, tear tape is my go to as well. I have ordered some permanent fuses for the first time though. I think they will be useful in places where it can be a little tricky to place the tape or if we are in a hurry. I live in Ireland so most of the times I can't source the brands mentioned in videos but they are still informative.
I meant to tell you before that I love your first name and wondered how you pronounce it. As for the permanent fuses, I've watched the Stampin' Up ladies use it, and you always have to remember to take it off the paper by swiping the unit to the left or right. I'm pretty sure I would forget to do that and have mine get gummed up inside. I've also had problems with snails and ripping the tape in half...not sure what I've been doing wrong with that. Let me know how the permanent fuse works for you...Sandy
Thank you very much Sandy, it's very sweet of you to say so. My name means prayer. If you click on the following link it will tell you how to pronounce it. There is even a couple of audio files. www.pronouncenames.com/pronounce/pooja I will let you know how I fare with the fuses. It will be a while though as Amazon takes a few weeks to deliver things to my place.
Hi Sandy! Catching-up on videos while I work on a scrapbook. Thank you for this video. I use a snail tape runner mostly, since it is easiest for me to use. I usually get the Darice brand as you can get a package of them (6?) in the kids craft area as it is so much cheaper and I use a coupon. I also use rolls of Scotch brand double-sided tape as it is the economical and easy to control. I just buy a package of rolls. I bought a tape dispenser from the Dollar Tree. I also use the Teresa Collins Mega Runner by Xyron, it is the same as the Xyron Mega Runner. I like it, but it is not great. Once I use up the tape refills I won't buy any more, unless they improve the tape. Luckily, I don't have issues opening the mega runner. I haven't even tried the ATG, because I know by just looking at it would be to bulky and top heavy for my hands. Thanks again and you did a great job as always.
Thanks, I really wanted to do this video because I've seen so many crafters use the big ATG and really didn't think I could, but never realized I really don't like it because I can't see where the glue is gong. I think you and I are both the snail size kind of girls because of the size of them. I do love tear tape when I need to have really good adhesive. Glad to hear you are catching up while scrapbooking, I was worried maybe you were ill and watching because you didn't feel up to doing other things. Sandy
I forgot to mention the tape dispenser idea of yours. That's brilliant and I'd never have thought of it. Lindsay (frugal crafter) used to use the Scotch tape double sided but changed when she got the ATG. I have a bunch of double sided tapes but found the dispensers to be harder to use. Maybe I'll find a tape dispenser and have Rich break the dispensers mine come on and put them into a dispenser. I see dispensers at garage sales fairly often so won't have to really invest much to try it out. Thanks for the tip!
Thanx for thinking about me. I have been doing great, been on Xeljanz for a year now. Two tablets a day. Very expensive, but what my insurance will not cover (copay) there is an Rx card that picks-up the co-pay. So I have no out-pocket for it, Praise the Lord, other wise I would be paying $600 a month co-pay. It is nice not to be tethered to an IV for hours. I'm on summer break.
You'd think with as much time as I spend at the Dollar Tree that I'd know they sell the tape dispensers.. I have bought their double sided tape and it works well, but you know how awkward handling tape can be. Thanks for the scoop, I'll check it out.
To make it easier to stop once you let go of the trigger, then twist to the right and it kinda cuts it loose. It does become easier with use. Even changing the rolls.
I have gotten that tip with smaller tape runners (about flicking it to the left or right), and when it comes to the larger ATG, it was more about being left handed and not being able to see where the tape is landing...As for changing the tape rolls, I leave that up to Rich (my husband), and when he sees me walking toward him with the ATG and a new tape roll, he looks like he might run away as fast as he can. haha...I'm sure it gets easier with experience, but I don't use it enough to gain that kind of experience...If there was a mirror on it so I could see where the tape is landing, that would be terrific...Thanks again for your tips...sounds like you're a real professional with yours now...
Glad I watched it. I got glider and ATG. I actually disliked the pro glider ... i have managed to ruin every cartridge and last night spent an hour fixing them but knowing its the strongest glue thats pretty awesome. I actually like Elmers snail and find it cheaper then the fancy names For the atg I dont pull it away I tip it up to towards the paper then remove it. It seems to stop the glue clumps
Thanks for your input, I really love hearing what works for others. Since I have a crazy obsession to cover everything glue, here's my video on the small tape runners. ruclips.net/video/CeJKJpkDcPQ/видео.html And if that's not enough, here's my over the top wet glue comparison. ruclips.net/video/O4GsEnT1hMw/видео.html As for the big ATG, I think it was the pro glider that the company replaced my cartridges, although it's been a while since I made that video and I know I talked about it on the video, so you probably already know which one it was. Just thought I'd mention it, as all I did was tell them what happened and they were very nice replacing them for me. (In case you want to try them one last time.) I hope you find something of interest in my other videos. I was told that I need to use a wrist flicking motion to disconnect from the small tape runners, but I'm terrible doing that and have tried to flick since, and decided I'm not really a wrist flicking kind of girl as my wrists don't really bend much. It was great advice though and I appreciate anything that helps me use tools more effectively. I hope you enjoy the videos. Sandy
I wonder. Are the empty refills recycleable? It IS! You answered this about the time I got it typed but I left the question for quick reference for others.
Thanks for this comparison. You confirmed what I have found in my struggles to find the best adhesive. I love my Tombow tape runner. It is easy for me to hold, and the adhesive is better than the dot runners. I tried a friend's big Scotch ATG gun, but it caused stress on my fingers and wrist. My hands don't need that added pain and stress! So I am staying with my Tombow tape runner.😃
It's unfortunate that the crafting industry can't employ people with the vision to create a tape gun for people like us. It would be so great if they could make a tape gun that works like the big one but is small and easy for us to hold. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad I confirmed it for you. Sandy
I really think tear tape is a great alternative, and I wasted so much tape in my big pink ATG, as it's always coming off the spool, and then tangling up inside...so frustrating. I rarely use it and find most crafters no longer use them either....Sandy
Thanks, this was very helpful. ATG is very expensive here. I have looked at the Glue Glider Pro but again not as cheap here in Australia. I love tear tape as i have alot of control. I use imitation runners atm and they work fine. Im looking into joining Stampin up so we'll see how i go. Thanks again & take care 🌹
Thanks for the nice comment. I agree with everything you said. I'm not sure if you have access to Splitcoast Stampers. it's a website that was started by Stampin' Up demonstrators and now is open to anyone. They have a lot of great ideas on that site. I like Stampin' Up products and think they are great quality. I've never tried their new small tape runner that's supposed to be super strong, but just got their new wet glue with a fine tip applicator and will be doing a video on wet glues. I hope you'll watch it when it goes up. I think this is the first I've heard from you, so thanks for checking out my videos. Sandy
+Crafting For Almost Everyone I have never heard of Split Coast Stampers but will look them up. We have Stampin Up Demonstraters here in Australia. Im about to attend a Craft Fair/Expo so I'm holding off joining anyone atm. I'll be sure to check out the fine point glue here on your channel as I've subbed. Looking forward to seeing more of your great videos. Tfs & take care 🌹
I really like the Splitcoast Stamper website but it's kind of hard to navigate. You have to join but membership is free and once you join, you can participate in challenges and read and watch tutorials and get a lot of good ideas from Stampin' Up demonstrators. If you become a demonstrator, I think that website will be really helpful for you. Best of luck. Sandy
I’m left handed too and don’t use my ATG nearly as much as the Adtech which I buy (refills) at Hobby Lobby with a 40 percent off coupon. The Adtech refills fit the Mono tape runner (nice).
I tried to find the Adtech and it looks like they are small tape runners..I like those better as well..the large ATG never seemed to work well for me...and the big pink one, is a nightmare for lefties, as you can't see where the tape is going...maybe they should make a left handed version.
Watch out. I am researching adhesives because I recently discovered my Adtech is failing in my scrapbooks. Now I have to go back through the last many years of pages and reinforce the adhesive with something that will last.
Helps so much Sandy, thank you! Someone at Splitcoast recommended the Ad Tech tape runners and I bought one to try - it's really great. They are inexpensive, easy to pull, and seem to stick much better than those dot tape runners (I've had the same problems you have with the two pieces of paper separating). I can't get glues out of a fine line tip either which is frustrating! But I've been using PPA adhesive and it flows like heavy cream - so much easier to squeeze and spread with fingers or a tool so you can get it as thick or thin as you want.
+Deanna Larson Deanna, Thanks for the great info. What specific PPA do you buy so I know I can get it out of the nozzle. I'm going to do a wet glue "Let's Talk" but don't want to do it until I find a nozzle that I can squeeze that is also one that has a fine line. I've tried three or four different fine line type nozzles and can't get the glue out of any of them. I've been thinking that maybe I'd have better luck if the glue is a really thin consistency. I really would like to try the art glitter glue but am not sure if I can use the bottle. I need to put a SCS thread out there for that I think. Maybe someone there knows the best glue for that. What's your recommendation? Sandy
+Crafting For Almost Everyone I had an extra bottle with a needle nose tip, so I decanted some of the PPA into the bottle and it works great! Tip the bottle and hardly any squeezing is necessary for a fine line of the glue to come out. PPA isn't appropriate for all applications, but this makes it my go-to!
+Crafting For Almost Everyone Oh - it's called Perfect Paper Adhesive and it comes in matte or gloss finish. You can find it on Amazon. The bottle nozzle makes an approximately one quarter inch stripe of glue.
Have you tried the Michaels Tape Gun? That is what I use. I stocked up when recently when Joanns had a 50% off coupon, I love it but enjoyed your video and might try the ATG gun bu tit is huge!!!
I haven't tried Michaels tape gun...That pink ATG gun is HUGE and top heavy, and when you are left handed, you can't see where the tape is landing, so it's not that easy to use. I guess I would have thought they would have considered left-handed people when they made this, and maybe created a left-handed version...If you like your Michaels gun, I don't see any reason to try the big pink one...it's no fun at all....Sandy
I appreciate this video. I finally got the scotch one bc I go thru so much lil ones and they're expensive but I am not thrilled. I get the blobs. I had carpal tunnel surgery and my hand just never the same so yeah it is awkward and not light weight to me at all. I'll keep practicing and hoping I adjust to it 🤣. Thanks for sharing💛:)
I didn't find any of these large tools that I felt was worth pursuing if you have any hand/wrist issues. I've decided I'm much better off using tear tape and wet glues instead of tape runners....for the same reasons you mentioned above...Happy you appreciated the video. I've covered just about every type of adhesive medium in this type of video, so we all know which ones work best...Sandy
Very informative video. Some of these runners can drive you crazy!! I own everyone of them and each one can cause you to drink!!😥😥. About the dotted tape, I think that's for delicate embellishments. The dots are suppose to prevent the glue from sticking in any open spaces. Try it and see. Don't feel bad, their not easy to be friends with! LOL
Hi Lorraine, Thanks for your nice note. I've tried the hardest to be friends with the big pink one especially when I do mini albums etc., but usually do a combination of wet glue and tape as I want to be sure it stays together. I've heard from so many people that their books or cards fall apart over time. So frustrating. I haven't used any of the other ones since doing this video as they all make me crazy in one way or another and now the snail is also giving me problems. I'll check into the dots although I use my Xyron for things that are hard to glue. So what do you prefer to use if not an ATG? I'm dying to know what the "ultimate" is in gluing. I've done a video on wet glues and compared 30 glues as well as one on glue sticks. I'm in the process of collecting small tape runners and trying to find enough of them to do a fair comparison but it's pretty costly buying enough to do the job right. If you have a small tape runner you love, let me know so I can include it. Sandy
I'm glad it helped. I've done these videos on almost every craft product I could think of, so if you are looking to purchase anything, I've probably done a review on it. PS I like your screen name and icon. Sandy
+loststamper Thanks for the nice note. Sorry I didn't get the information typed into the comment section until just now. Didn't know Rich had uploaded it. Please check the information section if you need any additional product information. Sandy
I don't know how to fill any tools for left handed people as I just fill them the way I'm instructed, and I assume it's for right handed people... I think most companies assume people will use their tools right handed, and I don't try to alter the instructions, and just use it with my right hand whenever I have to.
Diana, If you check the comment section, I give the best prices I found on them. I like to include that when I do these comparison videos so you don't have to research it if you don't want to. Hope it's helpful. Sandy
Sabrina, So glad it helped. I plan on doing another video on small glue runners as I've already done large ones, wet glue, and glue sticks. I wanted to make sure if you need glue or any crafty products, I would try them out to see which ones work best. Let me know how you like it. Sandy
I can't tell you how much it means to me that you trust me. Since I don't sell anything on my channel, I hope that also helps you realize that I only want to help my fellow crafters find the best tools for them...Thanks for the kind note...Sandy
To eliminate the little bits with your ATG the trick is to just release the trigger and press/rub the tip on the paper then pull up. If you follow the arrows inside the ATG you can replace the refill with out the videos and you didn't point out those arrows.
I've never tried to refill it, as my husband's always done it for me, and didn't know the arrows were there. I stopped using this ATG as I'm left handed and can't see where the tape is laying down, and that's so frustrating....Thanks for the tips, I really appreciate you sharing them..Sandy
+Nola Harris Nola, Thanks so much for your note. Do you have any physical limitations that helped you make the same decision as me? I just wondered and hope it's ok to ask. Sandy
I'm so glad you found my channel...I was told shortly after starting my channel that I shouldn't use the words disabled or handicapped, and was given physical limitations as my option....They can be pretty pesky, can't they? I'm thrilled you're coming along for the ride! Sandy
+MyDay2 DayLife I hope it helped you figure out which one would be best for you. If you ever want to have me analyze a crafting tool, please let me know and I'd be happy to make a video of it. Sandy
So glad I could help. I've reviewed wet glues, small tape runners, and glue sticks as well in case you are interested. If you have a subject you'd like me to cover, please let me know, as I'm always looking for new ways to help viewers overcome obstacles in either tools or techniques that they struggle with...saundralparker@yahoo.com Sandy
Thanks! I already have an ATG but I won the Xyron Mega Runner recently and I was trying to decide if I should bother with buying refills. I'm still on the fence, but I'm giving it a good trial before I decide. I love my ATG! I was surprised that you were able to pull apart the ATG adhesive you applied on the paper - it's been permanent on my cards but I buy the Scotch refills. I haven't tried the no-name but might the next time I run out so thanks for the tip! Enjoy your day!
Fit Kitty The thing I liked about the Mega Runner is that it's smaller and easier to use. The refills aren't very inexpensive though and if you love your ATG, I'd stick with it. Just my two cents. Thanks for the note, I love talking to new viewers. Sandy
Yeah, the Mega Runner refills seem quite pricey, especially for me here in Canada. I'm going to give it a good trial run before I decide on refills! I've been very happy with my ATG but it would be nice to have a spare for when the ATG runs out right in the middle of a project. The only thing I dislike about the ATG is refilling it - I have to look at my instruction sheet every single time! Take care!
I think you have to have an engineering degree to fill those ATG. I have Rich do mine every time I need to refill it and he hates it when he sees it in my hand cause he knows it's going to be a project to fill it. Sandy
The Scotch ATG? I hope you find it and really like it. I have a friend who bought her Scotch ATG at a thrift store so you never know. It might be something you could find at a garage sale too. Good luck on your quest for it. Sandy
So glad to help. I've made these videos for all kinds of glues and tape runners, so if you ever need adhesive info, you can type in the search field on my channel things like wet glue, tape runners, small tape runners, glue sticks, and you'll find my comparisons..Hope you'll let me know if you need me to cover a product, if I haven't already...Sandy
I'm glad to help. I've made these videos for lots of different tools, so you can type in the search field on my channel things like paper trimmer, scissors, score board, wet glue, tape runners, small tape runners, glue sticks, and you'll find my comparisons..Hope you'll let me know if you need me to cover a product, if I haven't already...Sandy
Kateri, I'm sorry I just found your comment. I agree about the ATG and wish someone would realize how heavy they are and how difficult they are to use. And expensive. Thanks for your note. Sandy
+sherry vaughn Sherry, I really wish I would have loved something besides the snail and the tear tape, but didn't, darn it. I'm so glad you love your ATG and hope someday they make one that I love as well. Sandy
I had the same problem and called the company and they sent me a link to a video that helped me re thread my refill and sent me replacements for the two I threw away. Very helpful and we'll see if I can get it to work this time.
I just watched an ATG video and I was looking down at my ATG when your video automatically stared. I jumped out of my skin, as I was not expecting blasting music. I 'm an avid youtube viewer, and the most annoying thing is the videos with the BLASTING music. I can't listen to videos like that. I won't be subscribing.
Kimi, I'm really sorry that the music was loud in this video as my husband tries really hard to ensure that it's not. I apologize that it offended you and will make sure he lowers the volume. Thanks for letting me know about it. Sandy
I always use tools the way right handed people do, as I can never find any instructions for left handed people, so I know I filled it like it was to be used by a right handed person. I hope that made sense. If it's the pink Scotch ATG gun, there are tons of videos on YTube that show you how to fill it, in case you want to do it the right way, and there are "shims" that people have created to make sure the tape stays where it's supposed to inside the gun...Let me know if I didn't answer your questions...saundralparker@yahoo.com Sandy
No, not the Scotch ATG. I'm talking about the first tape runner you were discussing. The one you said you liked because it can be used by lefties and right handed people (I was trying to add ies to the word right but it kept correcting me). You seemed to show how to refill it for left handed people implying that there is a different way to refill it for the use the other way. I dont understand how to refill those. You said that this was the best one. I'd like to get a good one. So thats why I m asking.
Thanks for doing this video! It was a great information for the different types.
Cynthia, If you want one of the big ATG, the pink one is tricky but most popular. I hope there's one you like, but if not, I did a video on small tape runners and which work best. Here's the link to that video. ruclips.net/video/CeJKJpkDcPQ/видео.html
Years after you posted it, and the information is still just as relevant. Thank you so much!
So glad it could help you..
There are a lot of videos that show you how to make a cardboard shim for the Scotch ATG gun to keep the tape on the straight and narrow, haha...Here's a link to one and this should help no matter what tape you buy. ruclips.net/video/QI7UUMMsaQI/видео.html
I know a lot of people swear by these guns but left handed people can't see where the tape is going as the machine blocks that view. Sandy
You're like the tape whisperer. 😀 Best tape review! I immediately starting looking into some of these. Thanks for this awesome review 👍
I love your assertiveness
You made me laugh....Loved your description of me...
😊😊😊😊
so happy i found this video and you mentions the rethreading video for the glue arts glue glider...I was about to chuck mine out because i was so mad at it but your info helped me to get it working again yay!!!! ty so much!!!
Marla, Thanks for the info on the Scotch ATG. I always like to hear how people make tools work best for them.
Thank you for taking the time to show us.
Sandy
+Crafting For Almost Everyone I am right handed. Sad that it is for eighties. When I hurt the small ones are great!!
It's funny that I never could figure out that part about why I couldn't see where the tape was going. Geez.
Sandy
Sandy, I don't sell any that I order. I use so much that I go through it rather quickly. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Sorry, I did misunderstand you. I apologize for the mix up.
Sandy thank you so very much for taking the time for this video. Now I know what I'll be shopping for.
+Debbie Lieb Debbie, I just finished typing in all of the product info in the comment area. I hope you find an ATG that works for you.
@@arashy Sad they weren't interested in making their product better.
@@craftingforalmosteveryone I think there’s a way for you to pin my comment if you want people to see how to use the ATG. Or you could copy and paste my text into your description.
Thank you for reviewing the different guns, I have just purchased the scotch ATG gun, but in the U.K. we do not have so much choice so annoying.
Thanks for your input....Glad you liked the video.
Sandy you are an Angel- I'm trying to decide what to do for a cost effective adhesive. You answer a lot of my questions. Big thank you❤️😊😊
+Raven Skye Raven, I'm really glad to help.
For me mod podge bowed my paper
white glue bowed the paper
tacky glue is REALLY hard to squeeze
Yes paste is great for collage and book covers but lousy on cards.
tombow works well but needs a bigger size
art glitter has no bowing, almost no drying time, uses very little, is strong, comes in an 8 oz bottle and a 75 cent lid means I don't have to pour the bottle into a smaller one.
Is it hard to squeeze? If you don't mind me asking, do you have any problems with strength in your hands?
Just a FYI you can get all of these at Michaels Craft store and you can always use a 40%off coupon. Except the stampin up runner. I love that you show so many different things:)
Thanks. I don't have a Michaels near me so I appreciate the information. Thanks for the nice note. Sandy
I personally prefer tear tape and just buying big rolls of it and taking the backing off of it. Am loving aliexpress and the glues and tapes there.
There is even a couple of audio files.
www.pronouncenames.com/pronounce/pooja
I will let you know how I fare with the fuses. It will be a while though as Amazon takes a few weeks to deliver things to my place.
That's even more special...Your name must have great meaning to your mother and father as well...
You can get them at the Dollar Store. I have had mine for years. I also use like score tape.
I actually like Elmers snail and find it cheaper then the fancy names
For the atg I dont pull it away I tip it up to towards the paper then remove it. It seems to stop the glue clumps
Thanks for your input, I really love hearing what works for others. Since I have a crazy obsession to cover everything glue, here's my video on the small tape runners. ruclips.net/video/CeJKJpkDcPQ/видео.html
And if that's not enough, here's my over the top wet glue comparison. ruclips.net/video/O4GsEnT1hMw/видео.html
As for the big ATG, I think it was the pro glider that the company replaced my cartridges, although it's been a while since I made that video and I know I talked about it on the video, so you probably already know which one it was.
Linda, Glad you asked and answered the question. Thanks for helping out!
Sandy
Thank you for this comprehensive look at ATG products. I think I’m gonna be kind to the earth and stick with the tear-by-hand products. 🙂
Sandy
+Crafting For Almost Everyone
I have never heard of Split Coast Stampers but will look them up.
Thanks, I'll order some today.
Hi, Poppy! I love my PPA, but hadn't thought to try it in my Fineline applicator bottle. Thanks for the tip!
@@craftingforalmosteveryone Can you do another video on the glues you use now?
@@ale347baker Sure, I'd be happy to...It might be a couple of weeks, as I have a few videos I need to put up before then...Thanks for asking. Sandy
Sandy
This was very helpful as I'm wondering just what to buy and ironically my name is Cynthia also!
I'm glad it helped. I've done these videos on almost every craft product I could think of, so if you are looking to purchase anything, I've probably done a review on it. PS I like your screen name and icon. Sandy
most of the temporary adhesives become permanent when left. They are only temporary for a short time to allow for repositioning if necessary
Thanks so much for your input. I always appreciate when viewers fill in the spots where I forget (or didn't know) the answers for...Sandy
great job on getting out all this information for us. Thank you for your time!
+loststamper Thanks for the nice note. Sorry I didn't get the information typed into the comment section until just now. Didn't know Rich had uploaded it. Please check the information section if you need any additional product information. Sandy
The first one you showed -- do we fill it the opposite way for right handed use?
I don't know how to fill any tools for left handed people as I just fill them the way I'm instructed, and I assume it's for right handed people... I think most companies assume people will use their tools right handed, and I don't try to alter the instructions, and just use it with my right hand whenever I have to.
thank u for videoi had no idea how to use my glue glider pro
Glad I could help...
I went to buy an ATG gun at hobby lobby the price was $44. 00 . Now that is a crazy price, my pocket can't handle that kind of hit. lol
Diana, If you check the comment section, I give the best prices I found on them. I like to include that when I do these comparison videos so you don't have to research it if you don't want to. Hope it's helpful. Sandy
Great video! I think i'll get the Glue Arts one, i'm looking for something with GREAT adhesive.
Sabrina, So glad it helped. I plan on doing another video on small glue runners as I've already done large ones, wet glue, and glue sticks. I wanted to make sure if you need glue or any crafty products, I would try them out to see which ones work best. Let me know how you like it. Sandy
I trust your opinion. Thank you.
Thanks for the great info and I agree . Hugs Nola
+Nola Harris Nola, Thanks so much for your note. Do you have any physical limitations that helped you make the same decision as me? I just wondered and hope it's ok to ask. Sandy
Many thanks from a newbie with those pesky "physical limitations"!!
I'm so glad you found my channel...I was told shortly after starting my channel that I shouldn't use the words disabled or handicapped, and was given physical limitations as my option....They can be pretty pesky, can't they? I'm thrilled you're coming along for the ride! Sandy
Great info!! Thanks for sharing:)
+MyDay2 DayLife I hope it helped you figure out which one would be best for you. If you ever want to have me analyze a crafting tool, please let me know and I'd be happy to make a video of it. Sandy
Great video ,It helped alot TFS
Kim, Glad you liked it. Sandy
Thank you so much this video helped me a lot
The wet glue video should be out in the next month but there were so many brands to buy and try, it's taken me forever.
Great review. Many thanks. 100x 😁
This was great! Thank you!
Cute user name! Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it and hope it helped if you are looking to buy an ATG. Sandy
Sandy
been waiting the BIG one
The Scotch ATG? I hope you find it and really like it. I have a friend who bought her Scotch ATG at a thrift store so you never know. It might be something you could find at a garage sale too. Good luck on your quest for it. Sandy
Very good video thanks!
Thank you.
I use just tape rolls no guns. I had an ATG and gave it away.
Kateri, I'm sorry I just found your comment. I agree about the ATG and wish someone would realize how heavy they are and how difficult they are to use. And expensive. Thanks for your note. Sandy
thanks
You're welcome...Sandy
thank you for sharing I love my ATG it's big and I can find it better on my craft table lol
+Bekki White Bekki, That is a great reason to use it. I can never find those snails. Loved your note. Sandy
tfs Good information BE BLESSED
+Dani Jackson Dani, Glad you liked the video. I just finished typing in all of the product info in the comment area above. Sandy
The Xyron is the worst tape runner I have ever used. I love my ATG, except for loading.
+sherry vaughn Sherry, I really wish I would have loved something besides the snail and the tear tape, but didn't, darn it. I'm so glad you love your ATG and hope someday they make one that I love as well. Sandy
I hope so too and maybe one that is easier to load. I have my husband do it because I do not have the patience for it...lol
I know, Rich has to fill the Scotch one for me too.
worst money I spent.the refill are garabge
Which one had refills that were garbage?
sorry the pro glider
Sandy
keep your sound down then if you know so many videos have annoying blasting music.
The first one you showed -- do we fill it the opposite way for right handed use?
