Yeah Oilers should’ve been called for a couple hits from behind and tripping, meanwhile panthers get called for tripping when they fall and slide into a player lol. League was helping oilers all playoffs long
I know people who played against Michkov. They said he’s not that great of a player and is a very difficult player in the room. They have zero reason to lie and there was hints of this last year. If this comes to pass, characterizing his appearance in Philly may be something they regret, as opposed to, celebrating. Just a thought.

The same logic I hear everywhere. Game 6/7 wasn't enough to take the Conn Smythe away from McDavid but game 4/5/6 was enough to take it away from Bob? When they hung him out to dry? I don't get it.
If what player x does in games 4, 5, and 6 is that much better than what player y did in the other games, then yes. Don't even disagree that it could've gone to bob, but I don't see it as illogical.
I feel like Barkov got shafted on the Conn Smythe. He shutdown the best of the best, round after round. It cant just be points- but I do still realize and respect what McD achieved by breaking some unbelievable records. no officiating controversy either, a great final and G7!
There's a reason that out of 17 Conn Smythe voters 16 had McDavid as their first choice and 0 had Barkov. McDavid was a +7 in the final and Barkov was a -1. McDavid was a +12 in the playoffs and Barkov was a -1. The Panthers are a deeper team with better team defense but individually they don't have any one near as valuable as McDavid.
@@Dylligraphy Barkovs job is not lighting up the lamp. he plays against the absolute best and is the best at it. he kept McD and Drai away when it mattered the most. his +/- is not going to be as high because he literally plays against the best of the best. -1 is actually pretty fkn good, and that includes the blowouts.
@@Nathanielhiggerson66 How can he be the best if he "literally plays against the best of the best". Think about what you're saying. The best of the best in the finals, the playoffs, and in general is McDavid. The Oilers have made some critical management mistakes like spending 14.25m per year on Nurse+Campbell and the Oilers don't have as complete a team. That said, you'd be crazy not to trade Barkov or any other Panther for McDavid 1-for-1.
@@Dylligraphy Best at what he does. his role isnt the same as McDavids, Barkov never cheats the game and as a captain leads by example. theres a reason when the panthers were on their game the ”best player” wasnt able to get anything done when it counted G6-7. and he did the same to the rangers, tampa, boston.
This video is almost entirely about Edmonton. When they start talking about Florida they change the subject back to Edmonton. Then they get to the part where they're talking about Edmonton and then it's all Edmonton.
Elliott is full of crap. The series took way too long. We didn’t need 2 days off on travel days. If the NHL had any brains game 7 would have been played on Sunday night. Any early insight on ratings. I bet they weren’t good.
@@beeaggro2593The league gave it to McDavid with 0 points and 0 defensive presence in the last 2 games and was pretty silent for 5 total finals games, especially considering his role as an offensive player. They gave it to him because he beat Gretzkys record by beating up injured teams in drawn out series. He was the 3rd best player in the finals
I do. Bobrovsky and Barkov were better. Its not about save percentage or point tallies in blowouts, or Canadian media hype, its about being valuable to your team in the crucial moments and games. McDavid got the Connsolation Smythe.
McDavid shouldn't have won the Conn Smythe. If you argue "it's the totality of the playoffs" then you have to recognize McDavid was not great over the course of the seven games in the Finals. Bob was basically lights out the entire playoffs until Games 4, 5, and 6 of the Finals. Bob had three bad games, McDavid had four. That's why Florida won in the end.
I watched every minute of Florida's run, Bob was good but he only stole one game in the whole run. Whereas Edmonton doesn't win a round without McDavid.
McDavid scored 11 points and was +7 while playing through an abdominal injury in the SCF but "wasn't that great" yeah okay. No one else had more than 7 points. Florida won because it's a team game. Bob's .906 in this playoffs was mediocre.
I'm sorry but yall are wrong about the Conn Smyth going to Mcdavid... did Mcdavid put Tampa on his highlight reel during these playoffs no he played a weak kings team. Bubba (bobrobsky) literally matched every other superstar goalie against us. Bubba was ripped off from the Conn Smyth I hope Mcdavidx enjoys his participation award. From all of us 🐈 fans we ❤ you Bubbarooski. 🐈's cup!!!!!
1) You can't even spell Conn Smythe so it's a good thing you don't have a vote in it. 2) Bubba was .906 in the playoffs which is super mid. 3) If you have any sense at all you would trade Bubba for McDavid in a heartbeat. 4) As a team, the Panthers are better, deeper, and more balanced. Individually, no one on their team is close to McDavid.

BOB didn't preformed in games 5 through 6 & McDavid didn't preformed in games 1 through 3 and 6 & 7 so how does he he win the MVP over BOB? I know, I know the totality, So lets look at the totality of BOB entire playoff run he was avg 2.23 GA until game 5 of the finals vs top scoring teams like TB, BOS, NYR & Edmonton. We need to appreciate more how hard is it to play the position of goal tending. BOB was the last line of defense while McDavid always had the Luxury of a Leon assist to him or a Hayman assist to him. BOB didn't have that luxury. He is on an Island blocking 98 mph slap shots from Bouchard,
Bob also had a great defense working in front of him. Did you not watch last night's game? That was a textbook clinic in shot blocking. It was clear that before the game the Panthers thought "win or lose, this is the last game of the season so if we get hurt blocking shots tonight we got the summer to recover". There were so many times in the third that Bob was completely out of position but the Oilers still couldn't score because a Florida player just threw his entire body in the way. I'm a huge Bob fan but the only game he stole in this series was game one when the defense played bad in front of him and he had to bail them out.
@@mrquirky3626 and McDavid had the power play that was getting free goals throughout the playoffs with help from the refs. Wonder how many of his points were on the PP
I TOTALLY DISAGREE, the extra days off is what gave the advantage to EDMONTON, GEEZ 🙄, you new generation folks don’t know anything about the FIGHT GAME do you. Hockey players play 60 minutes of hockey with 2 breaks and sometimes overtime. Why would they need extra days off ??? Makes absolutely no sense, unless you’re trying to break the momentum of the team that’s up 3 games to none. It almost worked too. 🤔😡🤨
I can't help wondering, why did it took game 7 for the Panthers to get their game back? The previous 3 games they didn't look like the same team. Odd. I thing the NHL wanted a 7 game final series, so that's what they got.
82 games and then 3 prior intense playoff series against the Eastern Conference's best. I actually think they sort of ran out of gas for those 3 games. Just burnt out, charred.
Then why would the 2023 final be in 5 games? If you're going to talk conspiracies at least make it something that's been consistent, like how a Canadian team hasn't won a cup under Bettman.
The games aren't "consistently" fixed by dictate, but I think they're influenced by the league, the coaches, and the refs. As for Canadian teams, they're not as skilled as the US teams. They have lost the advantage they once had. Believe what you will, doesn't matter to me. I think this series was influenced, that's all.
Because Maurice and the Panthers played Edmonton and its entire fan base like a fiddle. It’s not enough to win, panthers like to give hope, then to crush it.
Friedge, your assumption „of a better game“ due to a further rest day correlates only with FLA win and is wrong. What you dont see is, that #97 and #29 have had no benefit and it would have been a better game, if all players would have been equally stressed by a back to back rhythm. You see the point? My point is not arguing against FLA - they deserved the Cup, they were better in game #7. But a better game we didnt have as a consequence of more rest days.
Thanks for talking about Winnipeg and Mcgorerty. Heard he was also injured last year which played into Winnipeg saying he wasnt ready for NHL yet. I agree that they likely will focus on top player building to continue their playoff run and not as much on newer players unless they are coming in hot. Just my thoughts. 🤔✈️

Why do hockey/nhl podcasts and shows take the summer off? Just because Bobby margaritas got to, doesn't mean everyone should. plus it completely stops the growth that should carry on and BUILD from the sc final. I get it, going down to the podcast mines once a week is tougher then people think.

Way the game should be played. May the better team win and the better team won.

A goalie's numbers are fickle. Those games were bad enough to bring the stats down in a significant way.
If what player x does in games 4, 5, and 6 is that much better than what player y did in the other games, then yes.
Don't even disagree that it could've gone to bob, but I don't see it as illogical.
How are you comparing a .906 to 42 points in a playoff run? I don't get it.
@@Dylligraphy i think its more the talk around it. It was Bob's until game 4, then suddenly the 42 points matter.
I love how Bouchard had a vacation behind his net with 45 seconds left in the game. LMAO.
I think it was 22 seconds 😅
You gotta remember the award is based off of the whole playoffs. Not just game 6 and 7
Congrats Paul Maurice! You did it after all those years! The team that iced the puck 785 times beat the team that dove 215 times! Lol
Look as a Panther fan, i have no complaints with the Conn Smythe going to Mcdavid. The Cats won what really matters
Same, but it would have been nice to give it to Barkov who was heroic this series
Who edited this episode? Awful, audio cutting in and out, sections where the audio is sped up. Tough to listen to.
Amazing a British Columbian Athlete with the game winner 😊
What the hell happened to this pod in post lol
McDavid shouldn't have won the Conn Smythe. If you argue "it's the totality of the playoffs" then you have to recognize McDavid was not great over the course of the seven games in the Finals. Bob was basically lights out the entire playoffs until Games 4, 5, and 6 of the Finals. Bob had three bad games, McDavid had four. That's why Florida won in the end.
I watched every minute of Florida's run, Bob was good but he only stole one game in the whole run. Whereas Edmonton doesn't win a round without McDavid.
@@levonlarson4048 In the four Finals game s Bob won, he stopped 110 out of 115 shots for a .956 SV%. McDavid was a no show for five of the seven games

Mcdavid's numbers.
@@mrquirky3626 and McDavid had the power play that was getting free goals throughout the playoffs with help from the refs. Wonder how many of his points were on the PP

It’s hilarious to see the bandwagon fans cry about McDavid losing 😂

Thanks for talking about Winnipeg and Mcgorerty. Heard he was also injured last year which played into Winnipeg saying he wasnt ready for NHL yet.
