    Looking great. I hope to get mine up and going soon here in Georgia. Take care and God bless you and your family.
    PS. You're right. That is a cattle panel. Hog panel has smaller opening on the edge put to the ground when installing so the piglets can't get out.

      Haha! I knew it was a cattle panel! I thought man, I’ve been saying it wrong all these yrs? But that’s how they have them listed at Tractor Supply too, “cattle panels!” 😂

    I just found your channel and boy am I glad! I am going to look at your hoop house build as my husband and I, empty nesters, live in arid, hot, south Texas and are looking for the best way to keep our greenhouse cool in the blistering summer sun and constant hot winds.
    Do you guys eat the leaves of your brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower? Delicious greens. Unless you feed them to your chickens. :)

    Just found your channel as I landed on this video after a bit of a rabbit hole chase on hoop houses and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the beautiful work you've both done. Gardening and Growing your own food is such a great experience because it is a constant work in progress where failures are welcome knowledge and when you've been at it awhile you know that the methods you've used may not be for everyone BUT it doesn't mean they don't work. I would say the results speak for themselves! Really impressive skillset guys! BTW that scissor did the job just fine 😄

    Every time I try and find your comment on my videos that you leave they're not there but they're in my notices it's so weird and I've subscribed to you and RUclips is just goofy throwing my channels away that I choose granted I have a lot of them but the ones that are the newest you think they'd leave alone so I found you again and thank you for what you said about the garden that was real thoughtful yeah I don't have a lot of space and as you saw I was falling all over myself trying to get here and there so thanks again I'm going to watch your video now.

    Question I always trim my leaves off my brussel sprouts to force them to bulb faster and bigger have you tried that?

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  3 года назад

      This is our first year growing brussels. I’ve actually never done that but maybe that’s the trick? I’ll give it a try next time when we plant for the fall! 😊

    Japanese Beetles on beans have been a real issue in our region too....they just devour the plants. I've planted my beans later this year, hoping to bypass the active cycle of the beetles....so far so good.

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  3 года назад

      This is our first year we've had an issue with them. I just couldn't believe it and they're relentless. Everything I read said the best way to get rid of them is to "pluck" them off the plant. Oh yes...because I have all day to sit out there and pluck each beetle off as it comes LOL! I think planting later may be the trick, because June was their month for sure...they're starting to really taper off now! :)

    • @tannenbaumgirl3100
      @tannenbaumgirl3100 3 года назад

      @@HomeFreeAlaska I started having beetles after I planted two Linden Trees in my yard....little did I know they are a favorite of the beetles. The scent of Marigolds is also an attractant to them, and of course lawns where they're Larvae grow to maturity.

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  3 года назад

      @@tannenbaumgirl3100 uh oh…marigolds! Really?! I’ve always planted marigolds in my garden as a pest deterrent lol! Hmmm…maybe next year no marigolds then! 😂

    • @tannenbaumgirl3100
      @tannenbaumgirl3100 3 года назад

      @@HomeFreeAlaska Marigolds is one of the flowers on the list of Japanese Beetle favorites....see writing from Extension Service University of Minnesota website - we are Zone 4b and borderline Zone 3. Marigolds might be good for other bugs, but definitely not Japanese Beetles. Personally, I think they're usefulness in that regard is overrated, but they're a common plant with good availability.

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  3 года назад +1

      @@tannenbaumgirl3100 thanks so much for all the info! And to be honest I agree with you-I’ve never actually seen the marigolds do any good at all lol.

    I have never understood why people say you can't let the water touch tomato plants. If you couldn't the rain would hurt them. You just need to water them when the sun isn't beating down on them. Early morning is best. We had a heatwave come through in the low to teen triple digits. A lot of people lost their plants and some livestock. We get in the 100s here in WA just not this early and not for that long. Broke quite a few records. It was miserable! I don't know how those Arizonians handle it. Your garden looks great!

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  3 года назад +1

      I don’t understand it either Debbie lol!!! I’m like ehhhhh when it rains, what then? The leaves will get wet. 😱 Lol… It’s all gonna be ok. The tomatoes will be ok lol!

    • @ibob93
      @ibob93 Год назад

      @@HomeFreeAlaska tomatoes get sick with fungus coming with the rain drops, that's why… the problem i can see in this installation is that you are fighting against bugs but you need certain insects to pollinate the flowers of the fruits. your tomatoes have already reached the ceiling of the tunnel but there are still no fruits…

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  Год назад +1

      @@ibob93 we had a wonderful harvest from these tomatoes! We only plant veggies in our hoop house that don’t need insect pollination. Tomatoes can be manually pollinated, no need for insects! 😉

    I wonder how that plastic would do here in Arizona, we really get hot here, up to 120 the max

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  2 года назад

      I would definitely recommend getting an actual “greenhouse” type plastic. It’s more durable and heat resistant, especially in those temps! 😊 We JUST changed ours out last week for a greenhouse plastic, it was under $100 on Amazon!

    Do you know what variety of rosemary you have? I have been looking for the Tuscan Blue for some time now. Every time the websites say particular stores or nurseries have it, it is never labeled as such. 😔

    Hey Tina, when was the garlic planted? I've never seen it delay sprouting. Did you add a sulfur source to feed the onions and garlic?

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  3 года назад

      Hey Angela! Hm let’s see, it was put in the ground in April. But our garlics that we planted in the greenhouse did this too & then all the sudden boom! But…I ordered seeds for Gurneys this year…NOT impressed. Almost everything we ordered either didn’t germinate or died shortly after. And we had to rebuy seeds from someone else. These garlics were from Gurneys. So maybe they’re a dud. 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️

    When you cover certain plants with the netting how do the bees get to the blooms to pollinate? Does it matter if the bees can’t get to the blooms?

    • @HomeFreeAlaska
      @HomeFreeAlaska  3 года назад +2

      Hi! The plants that we have covered are the green beans & our pepper plants. These plants are self pollinating so they don’t need pollinators to produce fruit! 😊
