As an All Blacks fan, I apologise to the South African fans for the excuses (referee, bunker, cards, injuries) these people on this show are making for the most humiliating defeat in All Blacks history. All Blacks were comprehensively annihilated. This show is a national embarrassment. Just makes people around the world hate the All Blacks by denigrating opposition teams, players and coaches.

Thanks mate, hard to watch this crap. AB's are better than this. They need to work on their timing at lineout time (which I've noticed all season and I blame the coaching for this) and got penalised early in the game for it. it just spiralled from there. They won't make the same mistakes again and are obviously still in this WC. Bok fan - Scott Barrett was a bit of a cheap shot but its not like Springboks haven't done this in the past. problem with this show is the power behind the scenes. Robinson, Gower, all the way up to Graeme Hart. These people are all cut from the same cloth and are all so lazy and cynical in the way they try to rabble rouse and give utterly one-eyed takes on everything that goes sgainst the ABs. They think the NZ public are stupid and can be easily manipulated. The comments by said public show that thankfully their tactics aren't working.

There was a massive amount of handling errors that also cost time. Not just the tmo. The call on Moodie's try took the longest from the TMO. The rest they had answers before the ref referred to it.
On Barret i felt he did not make head contact. Just tucked his shoulder and should have been a penalty only for the shoulder tuck.
Anyway its in all our interest that the two southern Hemisphere teams progress and knock out the three northern hemisphere teams

If all adhere to rules we will not have the stop start and game should flow.

Im Irish myself, been watching this podcast for a few years but I really feel like the panel here living in a type of rugby equivalent of FOX news or something. NZ were comprehensively beaten. It is as simple as that. In sport, you win and you lose and you draw, and in this instance, the SA team was far and away the better team. The absolute reality is that NZ is NOT the force in world rugby it was for a very long time. The All Blacks are still a great institution and will remain in the upper echelon of the game, BUT, these type of results, along with others such as the lost series to Ireland, loss to France, loss to Argentina eg, are going to become more common. We've never beaten the AB's and have been thrashed on numerous occasions by them, no doubt when we do eventually get a win, it wont be of our making but a conspiracy, poor refereeing and poor laws of the game.

As an England supporter who feels Farrell rightly got a red card I am amazed that Barretts stayed as a yellow. That sort of cheap-shot is 100% what red cards were designed for as opposed to poor tackle technique/timing. Off the ball, no impact on the game other than to target a vulnerable player. Whether it was head contact or not is immaterial IMO, I'd red card it on "values of the game" alone.
As for the ABs themselves this was a reverse against probably one of the best International teams currently. Given your tough side of the draw there will be things to address but you will still have too much quality for most you play and on the day who knows. What is certain is both cards and a lack of them are going to have a definitive impact on this RWC.

This was more like The Meltdown than The Breakdown.
What a disappointing and embarrassing reaction from Goldie and friends.
Luckily ordinary supporters know that he doesn't represent the majority view of AB fans, who've all been humble and gracious in defeat, knowing that their team can and will do better and giving props to a great Springbok performance.
We will not put this meltdown on all AB fans in the hope that you guys won't put anything Mark Keohane says on us.
For balance, I present a few counter point to the rubbish presented in the 1st segment here:
    - nothing wrong with the bunker system, it agreed with the panelists that it should stay yellow (I disagree by the way, but I know it's contentious)
    - the game took so long because the ABs continually transgressed due to pressure. the issue is not the referee and TMO, but the transgressions and their inability to handle that pressure within the laws.
    - the ABs weren't dominated because they played with 14 men. they played with 14 men because the were dominated.
On the other hand: everything that could have gone wrong did and if Richie slotted that penalty, who knows how the momentum would have changed.
Bottomline: I hope the ABs management don't have this approach, because denial is not a goog coaching strategy and we're all hoping they bounce back and represent the Southern Hemisphere as we know they can. Hoping they wipe the floor with the French, but worried if this panel is a reflection of the mindset.
Good luck and massive respect to all AB fans (except Goldie).

So glad that there’s a plethora of balanced Rugby channels out there who saw things differently. The rest of the world watched a great spectacle of rugby, where the ABs were monstered by the arch enemy. ABs were outsmarted in all areas, from players all the way to management. The bokke mixed things up superbly. The 7:1 split that the panel is complaining about was a master stroke by the bokke management. Check mate. Play to your strengths and the scoreboard proved it. Scott Barrett had to resort to thuggery and cheap shots to try make some sort of contribution, the same way Mike Tyson had to resort to biting the opponents ear after being owned by Evander Holyfield. Goldies example of the bokke clean out on Dane Coles is not objective. DC is on his feet competing for the ball, as opposed to MM who was lying on the ground defenceless when the ruck was already over. You can’t compare the two. Talking about efficient use of time. The panel spent more than 30mins of a 50min show wining about the ref. Thats more than 60% of the show, yet you want to complain about the game being a drag? Take it on the chin boys. Lick your wounds and like true warriors, fair play to your rival. The bokke respected your “Kapa O Pango” challenge to a duel. They got you this time. Show some mutual respect.

What is going on here??? Surely SA’s pressure caused a multitude of those AB offenses, and did not allow NZ to play their natural game, in the first place! This is in effect, not a lot different than what Saffas have complained of in the past (even though this very same panel criticized any such complaints from them at those times). 1988 Bledisloe cup, the Australian journos complained that the ABs were the only team that could form a scrum wherever they chose, not the referee. More importantly, they pointed out that the ABs entered the breakdown from the side as often as they liked and even took out players in front of the ball. In the intervening years people have watched them play the man, obstruct and commit side entry with absolute impunity. The moment the referee whistles them on it, they struggle to adapt. Then they want refereeing to change. They're a good team and shouldn't need to rely on the carte blanche the referees have given them for years.

The Boks were planning for 2023 since 2018. We are happy about 2019, but that was not planned.2020, we played zero games due to our government restrictions, 2021 was the British and Irish Lions series and we had to hit our strides from the get-go. After that we were building. We built depth, we gave players opportunities, we focused on combinations, we did everything in our power to make sure by the time of the 2023 world cup, we will be the best that we have ever been. We left lots of points out there this weekend. The best of this team is yet to come when it really matters. These pundits will see the true potential of this team vs Scotland and Ireland. The Boks were far from their best. They also took their foot off the pedal the last 10 minutes which were disappointing. This show is an embarrassment. Biased, lacking class, intelligence and insight. As a South African I have nothing but respect and admiration for NZ rugby. They have been our greatest and most consistent competitors (never mind likely the most successful rugby nation of all time). Although the All Blacks were well and truly beaten on Saturday, no SA fan is under the illusion that on any other given day they could have put 30 past us (like they did a couple weeks ago). That is what makes these clashes so special. The true rivalry, competition and respect. This entire panel however has once again shown disrespect to not only the Springboks but also the great rivalry with the ABs that South Africans hold so dearly. The All Blacks had an off day. They were punished. Blaming refs etc is in poor taste and detracts from valid arguments that may improve our beautiful game and its officiating. The All Blacks are a brilliant, well coached side that have the talent and leadership to come back and potentially win the world cup however if this panel is any reflection of NZ rugby leadership/management then they may in fact be in more trouble than initially thought (fortunately I do not think this is the case). Stop making excuses and belittling a competitor who has never belittled you. Time for this panel to reflect the gracious and intelligent attitude of their fan base. Thanks for reading my incredible amount of bitching and complaining😂 I feel better😂

As a bok fan im really disappointed at the comments made by Goldie. He had so many excuses for how the boks spoiled the game. Sure the game was long, sure there was a lot of stoppages but look at the handling errors by the AB's
You cant talk about a flowing game and speeding it up when you have so many resets caused by your own team. Secondly im a big Barret fan but taking a cheap shot like that, remember he does have a history of red cards. Sir John Kirwan, lots of respect for your comments. @ljvolschenk9870 9 месяцев назад

He actually did buy into their usual foul tactics because the penalty count in ABs 22 were 8 with only one yellow! Two yellows the whole game where one was actually straight red! Gave them a lineout where Matt T clearly knocked on before going into touch and never noticed the offsides and blocking lines at their lineout, not to mention the scrum penalty where ABs went to ground first. If the ABs were to be reffed correctly this scoreline would be a regular occurrence.

Some of the 50/50 cleanouts the guys highlighted are in instances of genuine competition at the ruck. Barretts play was idiotic because it was a completely unnecessary shot on a guy lying on the ground at a ruck which wasn't even being competed for. It was the type of thing Bakkies Botha used to do...but these days you risk reds for it.
I think it must be especially difficult for past players to see their team lose like this. But honestly, the couple of shows prior to this didn't include complaining about the current laws and approach to refereeing, why now? I'd say its to rationalise and deal with a 35-7 loss?

I was so impressed about how well the AB coaching staff and players had taken this loss. As a Saffa we know enough about ref controversy, but for the presenters (Jeff speaking to you here) to start the show focusing solely on all the cards felt a bit like sour grapes. Specificslly Barrets RED, sorry Marx was off his legs on the ground with no right to the ball, he was in the process of disengaging from the break down and the ball was available to the ABs, for Scott to go off his feat to the head/kneck/sholder area was a wreckless cheap shot! Just because he may have hit the sholder first does not take away from it being a cheap wreckless shot. I also sense that marx was not necessaryily in pain, but angered by it being a wreckless cheap shot that could have been so much worse. I am also amused that all reports from out side of New Zealand concur with my sentiment, that it wad wreckless and cheap ... All noise from within New Zealand is that it was harsh and it should not have been a yellow and the resulting red. That in its self tells a story! Suck it up boys, you will be better against France!

The thing people missed was Rassie was not specifically moaning that it happened to the boks, he was trying to highlight how refs can stuff up a game with no accountability. But this show has just spat on that rivalry and in doing so has shown total disrespect to both teams. I'm sorry the AB fans had to watch this even more than I am sorry the bok fans had to. Man! I totally agree - I dunno where this perception comes from that "the fans" find it boring?? Nonsense.
Rugby is a high impact contact sport but it's evolved into so much more than that becoming a multi-faceted game of strategy and player and official management. It's a highly regulated environment where smart coaches (read: RassNaber) go so far as to appoint full time referees to consult on rules and technical compliance. The average professional rugby player has to be a bloody academic on top of being a warrior.
Personally, I find it fascinating to watch teams compete intelligently within the framework and when a brilliant team like the AB's consistently misstep and themselves cause the stop start situation they have to ask themselves some serious questions. Up-tempo rugby suits them for sure but in this case they were the authors of their own misery.
Thing is - those guys are intelligent and will look at what they did, adapt and bounce back, no doubt. Good luck for France AB's!

After taking the biggest defeat in history, even us Boks fans wouldn’t be whining as much as this lot. From the ref, to the bunker system, to the pace, to Bill Beaumont, everyone was to blame but the ABs. Just surprised they didn’t include global warming.
It was great watching the ABs finally being as penalised as we normally are, and realising it’s not so lekker, ne. It wasn’t such a problem when it happened to us in Mount Smart now was it. Only difference is we had the guts to not roll over and fought back.
Also loved the “this is the best the Boks can play” chirp. Like that spoilt kid in class not getting his way. Well, let’s see shall we.
And then the defence of the indefensible Scott Barrett “not making head contact”. Lol! I presume Malcolm needed that head bandage to keep his hair back.

All I hear is excuses and belittle the beautiful game our Boks played. I also think that the review system eliminates all the complains about the refs, there was 2 tries that was disallowed because the reviews and the ref did not pick this up. It was through the review systems which assist with eliminating points that are being scored because of mistakes of refs. Discussed with this show.

1 long injury to Lomax, 4 yellow cards, 2 disallowed tries - that's why the game was so slow. When the ball was in play, both teams did try to play ball a fair bit. Yes the Boks scored with their forwards and via turnovers, but the Boks also made clean breaks, and ran from inside their twenty two - as did the ABs. I think both teams' players tried to make it a real game.
