Jenny was horribly abused and raped as a very young girl until she went to her Grandmother’s. It is very common for abused people to pick bad mates throughout life. She went into the free love movement with the hippies. The movement was just weed and psychedelics like mushrooms and LSD at first and everybody went to San Fransisco, CA. They were protesting the Vietnam War. She was against the war, as was the whole flower child/ hippie movement. She loved Forrest, but didn’t think she was worthy of love, until the end when she had finally grown up after being a mother. Great reactions! Seattle loves you. I’ll keep checking in for more. You would love Good Will Hunting and The Dead Poets Society. Terrific movies. Keep up the good work! 💕💜💕
Tom Hanks became famous as a comedy actor. That is what he was known for in the 80's. He didn't break into drama until the 90's.

A classic must watch movie to react to. Jenny was running for most of her life but was emotionally messed up in a never-ending cycle of abuse. She always loved Forrest, but felt she was unworthy of him and could somehow taint his purity. There were two things introduced into her life she couldn't run from. Her child and her sickness. That reality forced Jenny to straighten out her priorities.
When she said "You don't know what Love is" it's because she didn't believe that someone as pure as Forrest could actually love her. So therefore when he said he did, she had to think he didn't really know what love is.
The Congressional Medal of Honor is the highest US military award, bestowed only to a select few who act with bravery & determination in the face of adversity, usually with great risk to life & limb - hence why it's often awarded posthumously.
Gifting it to Jenny was an extremely symbolic gesture of love & gratitude simply for her existence. It also shows she deeply cared for him as she held onto it and never pawned it off during her drug years before returning it.
Thank you. Once in a while I feel I just need to cry. It's the greatest emotional release. Your reaction videos are the best way for me to get there. I feel so much better after watching this magnificent movie with you. What a paradox that the feeling of great sorrow should bring a spiritual lift. You are so beautiful and have such depth of emotion that we are all privileged to be able to experience this movie with you.

One of my favorites and when I was a kid back then even though I knew that movie wasn’t based on a true story I always asked him “ dad was this in real life.” And every time he’d say “ no son it wasn’t.” I only did that so I can just talk with my dad (R.I.P) never told him that I think but I will when it’s my time to depart this world and life into the next. Great choice in movie watching. Got a new fan/subscriber. Keep up the good work and the good vibes.
People should really pay more attention. This was probably 1980, maybe 81 or 82. There were no cell phones. And after she left his house because she didn't think she was good enough for him at the time. He ran for years. She had no way of contacting him to let him know he had a son.
"How could he run?" - Forrest had nothing wrong with his legs... Remember that the doctor told his mother that the braces were to straighten his back. Obviously, it was only a minor affliction. The doctor grossly misdiagnose his spine problem. Today, doctors would prescribe a little physical therapy (exercises, stretching, etc...). Medicine was still quite medieval back in the 60's... lol
they had a nice touch towards the end ,when Forrest turned from Jenny's grave ,A flock of Jenny Wren birds flew into their Oak tree , by Jenny's grave.

When Forrest was giving his speech when the wires were pulled out, what he actually said was “sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don’t go home at all. That’s a bad thing. That’s all I have to say about that”
I love the scene where the hooker calls forest stupid , Lt dan doesn't even hesitate to protect him. DON'T YOU EVER CALL HIM STUPID!!
Although unsaid, it's likely Forrest's dad abandoned them because he didn't want a "dumb kid". This was 1950s and that kind of thing affected your social standing back then.

One reason Jenny didn't tell Forest about his son is because he was running across the country for 3 years. It would have been hard back then to find him and contact him. Also, this is not a true story but the events that happen in it are true events. They just fictitiously made Forest a part of it all.

It doesn't matter if you're talking about one or a million, it's not shrimps, it's just shrimp. I can't help but laugh every time I hear someone say shrimps.
They used CGI to put Forrest in real news films of historic events, but Forrest is a fictional character.
Jenny made all these bad decisions because of her home life being abused by her dad thinking she wasn't good enough for someone like Forrest Gump or looking for somebody like her dad always chasing the bad boys thinking she deserves to be treated that way
Troubled mind person can bring them to such bad decisions and most of the time they don't figure what they are doin. I was bullyed big times in the past and one way I got to get over it is from all kinds of stand-ups Quebec comedians and DJing which I still do. Find something that makes you happy is the recipe but for some folks, it is not easy @ all.
Jenny was detoxing from heroin when she slept and slept, after a few days she was detoxed and stared doing fun things with him

Jenny would have told Forrest she was pregnant, I’m sure. The problem was, he left home for three years, running all over the country. How would she know where he was? This was before social media, cellphones and emails. It surprises me how many people give Jenny a hard time for not letting Forrest know about his son. She had to wait, hoping that one day he would return home.
You have chosen some great and very emotional movies to react to. This is one of my favourites and I love the reaction.
When Forrest gets up to talk at the Vietnam rally in Washington, the microphone plug is pulled and you cannot hear him. According to Tom Hanks he said, "Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that."
When Forrest first learns to play ping-pong in the infirmary, he is told the trick is to "keep his eye on the ball at all times" by another soldier. After that moment, whenever he is shown playing ping-pong, he never blinks.

Also - Little Forrest Junior was four years old when meeting his father for the first time. It is revealed by what was on television in two scenes. The first, when Forrest proposed to Jenny and made love later that night, there was a broadcast of the American Bicentennial celebration that took place on the 4th of July, 1976. When Forrest received the letter from Jenny inviting her to Savannah where he met Forrest, Jr. The TV was showing the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, which happened in March of 1981.

Id like to clarify something, Jenny didnt have AIDS. She had hepatitis C. She contracted it from drug use. The author stated so in the sequel book to forest gump. Hep C wasnt fully discovered and named until 1984. Otherwise everything else you said was right.
Childhood friends can have a romantic relationship. One of my closest friends had a picture of he and his future wife lying naked on a rug together when they were babies. They had been married for over 60 years when he passed. It may be rare, but your soul mate is your soul mate no matter when you meet.
Jenny didn't tell Forest about his son because he was running. She sent him the letter once it was reported that he had stopped running.

The stack of letters in the hospital were Forrest’s letters to Jenny. They were marked Return to Sender, presumably because she moved to a different address and he didn’t know.
Charlie was the nickname for the Viet Cong the U.S. & South Vietnamese troops were fighting. It was short for Victor Charlie or VC, letters in the NATO phoentic alphabet. My dad and uncle, who both served in Vietnam said "Charlie" referred to the Communists forces there in general.
I really enjoyed your reaction. In case you were wondering as a lot of young people who react to this movie do, the virus that Jenny had was aids. When it was first starting to spread in the United States and people first became aware of it in the early 1980's nobody new what it was and there were no treatments for it so if you got it you were going to die. At the time this movie was released in 1994 most anyone old enough to see Forest Gump in the theater would have been old enough to remember the early days of the aids epidemic so it was understood what Jenny had and how it was going to end for her. Anyway great job.
It was Hep C. The first case of AIDS was 1981. The "present day" of this movie is 1981. The author also said it was Hep C.
@@godmagnusI don't think that it was hep c. Aids apparently had begun spreading to the 70's but nobody new what it was and most people never heard of it. I first heard of it in 1983. The only reason I remember the year is because it was the year I graduated high school. The whole premise of the movie was that Forest and Jenny lived through and experienced many of the historical and cultural events of the time. Hep C was not a big deal but aids was. Especially when you're an 18 year old young man looking to score with as many women as you can and all of a sudden you're afraid that you can catch an incurable disease that will kill you.

Forrest Gump's not a real person, but a lot of the people around him were: Elvis Presley, all the Presidents he met like Johnson and Kennedy and Nixon, Also Bubba Gump Shrimp is a real company (I've had some of their cocktails and they taste pretty good!). It's really a story about a good man greowing up from the 60's all the way up to the early 80's, and experiencing all the significant moments in history like the Vietnam War, protests, and various historical hapenings. It's a great look into American history thorugh the eyes of a good man we should all aspire to be.
We all need a Forrest Gump in our lives.
Keep in mind that the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company was founded in 1996, but the movie Forrest Gump came out in 1994.

Thank you. It's been hard I feel like I'm still in shock. It happened so suddenly she passed away of a pulmonary embolism. By the time I got to the hospital she was already gone
There wasn't any cell phones back then, and Forrest was running around the U.S. for more than 3 years so lol. Its not like she had a chance to tell him about their child
So I think the braces you were thinking of were in your teeth. Those were different braces to help his back get straightened

On a different note you are very young and probably have not heard of some other great movies in color from the 1960s

His legs were fine. He had a crooked back. He wore the brace for a while then he was able to go without it
When ahe said ahe had the virus it was now the 80s. Aids was starting to become rampant and was new.

This movie was known for digitally inserting "Forrest" into actual historical footage. For example, the scene where he's confused about "coons" being admitted to the formerly white school...
Jenny's the product of an abusive home. Emotional scars like that run deep. She's so messed up emotionally that she made some self destructive decisions. I don't think she ever really believed in herself because whatever negative messages her abusive dad kept telling her kept playing over & over in her head.
I understand Jenny. I'm an adult survivor of emotional child abuse, too.

One of many things I took away from the movie was that Forest, despite all the loss in his life, he only cried after Jenny died.

Jenny always abandoned Forrest every single chance she got up until she knew he was a millionaire. She kept his son a secret from him, and had no intentions of ever telling him until she knew she was dying, so she says "Hey, I know you're a millionaire now, and I'm gonna die in a few weeks. I'm gonna manipulate your love for me and make you raise my AIDS baby all by yourself." Forrest could have married a literal trash can and it would have been exactly the same without the heartache. If she doesn't love him, that's totally fine, but she could have stopped playing him his whole life.
All that being said, 10/10 movie lol
One of the best movies ever made. And I would name Tom Hanks as the best actor everr. You should see The green mile. Have a good time ahead.

1. The music rights alone must have cost a small mint💲💲
2. Having gotten his degree Forrest would have gone into the Army as an officer like Lt. Dan. Not a recruit.
3. He actually saved Lt Dan twice. Once in the field and again to get him out of his post war funk and Dan turned his life around.
4. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😋
5. Jenny died of Hep-C from dirty needles when she was in Caliphony..
6. It's ironic that Lt. Dan told the guys to take care of their feet because he looses his.
7. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis to John Lennon, Vietnam to the jogging craze of the 70's.
About the only thing left out was streaking but that wasn't touched.
8. Haley Joel Osmentt/Forrest Jr. steals the show in "The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis.
9. When he finishing a segment about death he ends it by saying "That's all I have to say about that"
10. In the book Forrest isn't always that nice of a guy.

The thing I feel bad about for young folks who watch this movie is that they don't get or understand all the historical references in this movie, so they are actually missing a lot of the movie.

It'amazes me how many people watch this movie and hate Jenny
She was a child of sexual and physical abuse by her father, the only thing she knew how to do was run
when she told him that he doesn't know what love is it was really her that didn't because of her dad
And most people who are abused like that tend to go from one abusive situation to another
She did love Forrest but she felt unworthy of him
When she left the last time she was ready to get herself together that's why she told the cab driver that she wasn't running
What makes me angry is that some people act like Jenny belonged to Forrest, like she was obligated to be with him,she had a right to her own life, she never asked Forrest for anything,even his letters to her came back people were assuming she got them, when it's clearly shown that she was not sitting in a trailer, she was off living her life
The same thing with Forrest when people say she should have told him about the baby, when they specifically made it a point to let us know how long Forrest was running
for, and when he came home she contacted him
