    sir, at 5:20 the soft iron is shown to have high retentivity, higher than that of steel but steel has higher retentivity. is it the correct curve?

    It seems there is a misprint at 7:20
    For Electromagnet, soft iron is used due to it's [ high retentivity] and low coercivity.
    BTW explanation is excellent 👍

    1) The value of magnetic field left in the material when the magnetic intensity (H) is reduced to zero is called Retentivity or Residual Magnetism of the material.
    2) The value of magnetizing force is called Coercivity of material.

      soft iron mein hame chahiye hota h ki easily magnetise aur demagnetise ho jaye , retentivity high honi chahiye taki lambe samay tak usme magnetic property bni rahe aur coercivity low honi chahiye taki easliy demagnetise kr ske .
