Thanks very much! Glad you liked it. Yeah, I'm very happy with it so far. Still learning, but the integration with SONAR is excellent. Solid build quality. No complaints yet.
Not yet. Been busy with projects. There some other vids over in the Videos section of DigiFreq though. Do a web search for DigiFreq to find the site and then click on the Videos link.
Correct me if I am wrong, but TRS is balanced, It has 3 elements. The same type of plug can be used for an unbalanced cable, but TRS can indeed be balanced. TRS is usually balanced/unbalanced, supporting both types in modern devices. Check wiki on TRS connector.
hi scott. it certainly looks good and very tempting. i'm using sonar8 producer and was using the alesis mastercontrol (which didn't work out for me). i'll be interested in seeing how you get on with the controller in your sessions. much appreciated. greetings from the uk.
@gadisrael Yep, the system also works with X1. Some of the features need to be updated, but Cakewalk is currently working on the update, which should be out in March.
@megaman1221 I don't see why not, but I don't know for sure. You would definitely be better off buying a better mic with an XLR connection so you can connect it directly to the V-Studio 700.
o ok thanks for the info. Will this system work with the new x1 from sonar.i've been using sonar since after high school class of 1991.It suites my needs.been wanting a controller tho.
@dali1088 Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it. Just in case anyone else reading this wants to grab a free copy, the eBook can be found in the ProAudioTutor section of my Garrigus website.
Hi, thanks for this vid it really helped! Questin tho, i have a different type of flexible IO example. Can i still run it on my V studio 700 panel system? With that being said i'm completly new to this all and i was wondering.. The Sonar panel system needs to be attached to the mother board of your computer right? Not the flexible IO true or false? And i have an older system software for my sonar v studio 700c does that really matter much or can i still run it? (I just bought this amazing piece of art but i'm completly new to this so yeah.. I was wondering all this! Thanks for everything man! Would love to see a reaction from someone!
@@ScottGarrigus flexibele I/0 is the interface. And the Sonar panel system is they other one. But as i said, i have an older interface connected to my Sonar v studio console 700c. Is that a problem or? And i have an older using system to control it from. Now i'm not sure if it will work,i hoped that you could help me more with this. Thanks for the quick reaction :)!
Hi DG... unfortunately, I'm not sure. I know the V-Studio system works fine under Windows 7 and you can get it running on Windows 10 if you do some additional steps to bypass Win driver verification. However, some of the more advanced functions no longer work with the current version of Cakewalk (SONAR), but hopefully the new owner (Bandlab) will be fixing that in a future update of the new Cakewalk software. We'll have to wait and see.
@megaman1221 Oh, okay. If you're just getting the console, then they should work together. Although, USB mics are known for causing trouble when used with other USB devices. The problem is that there's only so much data bandwidth provided by USB. I think the only way to know for sure will be to try it, unfortunately. You could also try talking to Cakewalk, but I don't know if they'll know for sure either. Thanks for reading my book! I appreciate it.
@eschelar Yes, that's true. I made a mistake while filming, but I added a correction that shows up on the screen as text during that part of the video. You must have missed it. :)
@curszondax Thanks! Yeah, it's a great system. I'll have some more videos on the DigiFreq site soon. In the meantime, check out my free eBook... Cakewalk V-Studio 700: A Closer Look. You can download for free in the ProAudioTutor section of my Garrigus website.
@lucamorris0 Thanks! Yeah, it's a great piece of equipment. I've written an eBook about the V-Studio 700 and you can download it for free at my website.
Hi Richard... yes, it still works fine. Although, I'm not using some of the more advanced features. I'm mainly using it for transport control, mixing, and recording automation.
@Guitarpat100 Yes, it can be used with other software as long as the software supports the Mackie Control protocol for control surfaces. Unfortunately, Pro Tools doesn't support that protocol so it won't work with Pro Tools. Not sure about the others. I talk more about it in my free ebook... you can find more info at garrigus dot com?VStudio700
I think it was around $3000, but it has since been discontinued, so (as far as I know) you can only buy it used now. Still a great system though and working great.
Hey Jeff... Yeah, they're definitely a lot less expensive these days. :) I really wish it wasn't discontinued, but it's still a great system and you got it at a very nice price.

@megaman1221 Yes, the console comes with its own drivers, which allow it work with tight integration with the SONAR software.

Does it comes with the full version of Sonar 8 producer or its just the demo
Does this only work with cakewalk, or can it be used for other software like Pro tools, Logic, Cubase etc. =P

oh so sad!! And there´s a new version available? I´m trying to improve my home studio.
No, I'm not aware of any new version.
Hi Scot. What's your thoughts on what has happened to cakewalk?
Did I reply to this? If not, sorry. As you may have heard, Cakewalk was bought by Bandlab and is now available for free... cakewalk.bandlab.com

why would they make the interface usb instead of firewire?
@gadisrael As far as I know, FireWire is on its way out. USB3 will probably become the new standard.
Do you still use your VS-700?
Yes, sometimes on an older system. It works fine under Win 10, but I haven't tested Win 11 yet.
how much did you pay for this beuty???

Sonar 8. Sigh..... i remember those days. When DAW companies were innocent. 😕
Times were definitely different back then... and even more before that.
Sill using 8.5 even though I own X3.
