  • POV Test ride and review of the new model 2017 Victory Octane cruiser motorcycle. I ride the bike through the city and on the highway to see how it performs. Based on the Indian Scout platform, the new Octane is a monster of a deal at only $10,499 MSRP.

    Being a Harley rider for the last 40 years and still own 2, that might not have a home in my garage the next time anyone asks if they are for sale. The Octane was everything I've been saying for years that H-D should have done a long time ago.Yeah they made the V-Rod,too heavy under-powered but pretty in typical Harley mindset.Yeah the seat is stiff but the vibration is where I like it,it lets you know your on a bike,but has exceptional throttle response that it more fun to keep in a lower gear and ride the damn thing in it's happy spot! My only gripe is the form over function fuel tank. I want a 5 gallon tank to take away the stress of an open fuel station in the middle of nowhere especially after everyone just passed a sign ( Next Gas Station 68 Miles at 80 MPH)! If the aftermarket doesn't see the market for producing a larger tank,I'll make my own and maybe a few extra for the guy's that agree with me........

    Finally, someone wrapped it out. Most reviewers ride this bike like its redline is 5000 rpm, then they say its not fast. I think the Octane redline is 8300 rpm. Too bad about the seat. Thanks for the review.

    My first bike was a Vulcan 800 with a blown shock, spent many hours on it every time I had a chance because I enjoy riding so much. Just picked up an octane a week ago and it is luxury to me, lol. No complaints here.

    Great review. You really did a good job of describing the characteristics of the Octane and pointing out the differences between this and the Scout.

    I just picked up my Octane yesterday and OMG I freaking love it!! SO MUCH PULL. I've only taken her up to like 6500rpm and jeez does it have power, and it handles so damn good!! So happy with going with the Octane instead of the Iron 883!! Great Video by the way!

      Yeah man.. Funny thing I've never been on a bike.. Ever.. Lol. Got my permit day before. Told my brother "hey drop me off in Hollister to buy a bike.." freaking went for it and rode the bike like 25miles to my city.. Haha what a day..

    I have 2800 miles on my Octane, and love this bike! I got the Vance & Hines hi flow intake and the power commander V. I drilled A 5/8 hole below the center exaust hole on each pipe, and it about doubled the exaust noise level,and sounds even better! There are no pipes out yet that I like. I think the aftermarket parts for this bike will be awesome, once they get rolling. Like the review states,the power is insane thru all the gears, but I think his vibration issue was bike specific, as mine is pretty smooth. I have not dyno'd my bike yet, but have read that an intake,power commander and a good exaust will bring the hp up to 114 : ) this will be a HD V-Rod killer, in the 1/4 mile for 1/2 the price,now all I need is a taller 6th gear,so I can stay ahead of the Vrod.

    Freakin awesome man, I was hoping u would ride this one. If I were to get a second bike I'd prolly land on this one. Can u imagine, an fz-09 and octane combo, torque monsters. Nice review man!

      Thanks for watching! I think this is the one cruiser so far that would legitimately make me switch from sportbikes to cruisers. It was so fun.

    • @jc-plotplan1151
      @jc-plotplan1151 8 лет назад

      +agentcox000 I can vouch for that combo. I been riding my fz9 since 2013 and love it, nimble torquey monster.
      My wife got my Scout for valentines ( not the octane but close enough) and the nimbleness still there on the Scout. Actually I'm riding hard it as the FZ9 and the power is there all the time, Even on the fwy speed 6th gear still moves you...

    That octane has the stage 1 pipes and probably the flash that it comes with. The factory pipes look different and are quieter.

    it also has different timing. You are right , it has a totally different feel. Good review. So funny when you went "whoo!" Yeah, I rode one and it's just like that. Want to go "whoo!" ? Ride an Octane. I should be in marketing lol. I didn't notice the vibration you mention. Power in any gear. Light was the first thing I noticed. It felt like I was on a bicycle when I initially threw a leg over and stood it up. It needs pipes. Also agree, it launches like no cruiser I've ever ridden.

    • @arch417powersports
      @arch417powersports  8 лет назад +1

      Good thoughts. I think I'm sensitive to the vibration because I'm not used to vibration like that. It does feel so light and can turn on a dime.

    Just bought this bike 2 weeks ago. Awesome machine. I personally didn't find that much vibration on the bike. And as far as the seat goes I kind of moved around till I found a softer spot and seems fine. But than again it could be just me. Anyway great review bro.

      The Yamaha Stryker is a lot larger than this bike. The Styrker would compare with a Victory Gunner, Vegas, or Hammer more so.

    A very good review, pointing out the good and the bad about this Bike. My 30+ minute ride left me with a sore back and tingling fingers. The bike has power and torque similar to the HD 1200's but lacks their comfort level. Ride before you buy. Ride safe.

    • @draganm7823
      @draganm7823 7 лет назад

      I liked the Octane also, then I rode one. big disappointment for me, HD haters talk about Harleys vibrating but this bike takes 1st when it comes to vibration aside from a two stroke this is the only bike that left my fingers tingling after riding it and it was only a 30 minute ride. if you are thinking of this bike check out the Scout or the HD equivalents.

    Nice review but if 20 minutes of riding hurts your butt regardless of make/model, you might wanna upgrade to a real man's ass. Also, make sure never to ride a VMax if this bike's acceleration shocked you! ;) I have to agree with those who were disappointed. This bike is what a Scout Sixty should have been and this bike needed at least another 10 HP/torque more after all the modifications they claimed to have put in it.
    Still, a good bike nevertheless.
