Jean Luc is an amazing rider and educator. I have hosted clinics with him twice now, and plan to continue for as long as Jean Luc will travel. I have met many trainers, most of which I would not let touch my own expressive and sensitive horse. The knowledge Jean Luc has shared with me is priceless. Jean Luc - God bless your desire to help people understand horses - we can either hurt them or help them; the choice is ours.
Anyone else notice that when he was actually riding the horse some parts he doesn't have stirrups. That is just amazing such grace and poise, it is actually quiet beautiful to see someone who doesn't seem to get mad and just seems completely calm. You are a true inspiration to some people.
I keep this video on hand just in case I may have had a 'bad' ride or I'm not feeling as confident as I'd like. ....and after watching it I laugh at myself for getting hung up on little things. YOU are a true horseman. I hope beautiful Chazot as well as the rest of your family is doing well . Cheers !!
@Saartjen Chazot does not kick towards us anymore..he has come a long way from his rearing, kicking days..:) He is no longer violent but a trusting partner working extremely well. Staying calm and not using abusive tactics and understanding his problems was the key in his reeducation. His bad memories and his body pain were his problems now resolved. Thank you for your comment...Helyn
What I like the best about all these videos is that the bit is never used as punishment even when on the ground. So many "trainers" these days jerk their horses hard with the bit to punish them. I admires how this trainer stays calm even when the horse is cow kicking inches from hitting him.
I like this trainer a lot, his approach is so sympathetic, and creates a lot of relaxed forward thinking in the horse, and you can clearly see as the result of racing, that Chazot has a good side and an unbalanced side, when he begins to lounge on the clockwise circuit, which for such a big horse is challenging, but the horse gives it a go, because he knows the trainer will give him relief from the bend by using the long side of the arena...very sympathetic to the horse..
What a beautiful horse - and what an amazing rider! Magnificent! And the music was so right! Brilliant! Loved it! I'd have bailed out - if I'd had the guts to get on in the first place! Beautiful!
@jmaritz328 He came from the racetrack...he had pain and fear as well learned to fight....he now with working with his intelligence is proceeding on path of dressage...is amazing athlete..kind heart, gentle one....hard to believe eh? :) Thank you for commenting...also Chazot this horse writes about his life with Jean Luc Cornille on scienceofmotion com
Your a wonderful trainer, most people would be terrified to even go near that hose much less train it. Many horses with high spirits like this one are simply sold to slaughter because owners don't know how to deal with such a high strung equine. You though are the perfect example of what a horseman should be. I applaud you.
My true respect for this trainers courage and competence - a most valueable video! But it would be very interesting to learn how well the reeducation of the horse went and in what state the horse is now. Could we get an update? Thanks for sharing this with us!
When Margit Otto Crepin purchased Corlandus, all top dressage riders knew about Corlandus' outstanding potential. Margit was the only one who has the gut to deal with his spirit and the intelligence to adjust her training approach to the horse's complicated morphology. He had sickle hocks. They won the silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Dressage Olympics. Jean Luc Cornille
What a beautiful animal, Animals are always smarter than humans, GOD made them first, Incredible! If it wasn't for horses in the beginning, how would have mankind go anywhere, I still wish it was the horse and buggy days! Amazing! GOOD JOB! LOVE HORSES!
I completely agree with this comment. I was wondering about the horse's motivation as I was watching it. Not once did strike out at the handler, or attempt to hurt him in any way, and at times was walking quite relaxed with ears forward. Interesting!
That is one huge horse... Personally, when they get this crazy I prefer being on them, where their hooves can't reach! But I don't know If I'd ever have the courage to take on a horse like this... You do amazing work.
wow that horse is HUGE 18.1 omg! ... btw he's beautiful and a horse like this needs someone like this who is patient and no's what there doing !!! your doing a amazing job with him .. good luck with the rest of his training!! :D
very well sat, that takes alot of guts to stay calm and focused but bloody hell, 3:30! wear a hat!! horses that throw themselves into the air like that only have the slightest bit of balance between landing back on four feet and landing on you.
Amazing!! If my horse would have done that I am shameful to say I wouldn't have been so calm. She would be in a massive amount of trouble. Haha!! My grandpa used to fill a peice of hose with sand and cap off the ends and then when they rear he'd smack their pole. I think thats cruel, but according to him it never failed. Silly old cowboys. :D
@Onaziz Thank you...yes we do..Jean Luc travels worldwide working with trainers, riders and horses. As well horses are sent to our farm for JLC to reeducate.
Wow this is one of the beautiest horses i've ever seen! And what an amazing rider! Just as the man who's walking next to the horse. He's so calm when the horse is rearing or kicking. I would be so scared when i was that man. A-MA-ZING
I had to cut Jean Luc response message into two as it has word cut off...so Jean Luc is the writer (as well as rider on video) He as well trained Margit and has worked his entire life with world class horses. Follow Chazot journey, as he is indeed a great horse.
I took lessons for 3 ears. the last horse was Zeus. He would bite everyone and kick them, expect for me. I was patient and caring and he never did anything to me. I loved him from the first time i saw him, but i approached him with great fear. still he allowed me to do anything. I wish I could have done more for him. Being as fearless as you are with that horse and as patient, I probably could have worked with him better. When he was sold i quit. wish he found someone like you to look after him.
What a beauty! I love how this guy handle this horse, why did he rear and things like that? My english is not that good, I'm from Norway.. Well, my horse knows how to rear on command, but he never use it against me.. I'm glad! Wonderful horse, and I'm glad he's behaving better :)
Although the horse rears and kicks, it never directly attacks the man. It seems like an extreme game the horse is playing... It doesnt turn aggrassive against the man or tries to break away. To my mind he tries to intimidate.... no snapping, no laid back ears... he looks more unwilling than vicious.. he seems to have manners and also respect, but still a bad habit. I have to admit that I´m now very curious about this horse and alsoriverted- by both.
@ebkern Chazot (the horse) is in GA and doing wonderful! No rears to follow his story go to scienceofmotion com articles and photos as well as podcasts on him..He no longer rears under saddle and is incredible athlete...wonderful mind..gentle kind...
Any tips to deal with a horse who has extremely contagious energy. I work with my horse all the time and alone he is great and really confident but if another horse with high energy gets into the ring he gets all riled up. He has a lot of energy in the first place which is not a problem normally but as soon as he sees another horse become jumpy all that confidence is thrown into the air.
I had the fortune to ride and train world class horses in three day event and jumping. Superior athletes all come with difficulties and very high spirit. They must have a lot of guts to pull a rider out of a triple Grand Prix combination or a difficult question in thee day event. Before been properly guided, their spirit might be difficult to deal with as is Chazot's spirit. Each great horse needs a rider willing to deal with the horse's spirit, or difficult morphology, or bad memories.
@Ce2On There is nothing wrong to be scare. Rearing is a dangerous thing. Once the horse rear, the best solution is to grab the neck and stay forward in order to do not disturb his balance. However, the real solution is to manage the training and avoid rearing. Try to find the root cause and if you find it either organize your training session to avoid the problem or give to the horse the gymnastic needed to resolve the physical cause. Have confidence but be careful. Jean Luc
@GainingBananas Chazot is being worked with JLC in hand technique. more on this on our site scienceofmotion com In the first few you see him with halter and lead rope was first day on third day added his bridle...we take our time with these guys...and it pays off in end with a happy spirited in tack partner
@Dandyizbeast Chazot is a gelding...he just has strong opinions..:) He has a gelding friend in stall and pasture to him...(he cannot be with other horses as he is running them etc....
Chazot is doing wonderful with Jean Luc Cornille. He no longer rears under saddle. Is calm , happy with his spirit intact. He has strong opinions which we like.:) Thank you for commenting...
We did not race him previous owners did he had 6 races and placed once...he is now doing dressage work and is used in demonstrations and..he is a incredible athlete..we adore this horse and is with us for life....
@charlieboy1091 His rearing was a protective response and habit from racetrack...we worked with his intelligence and he does not rear now and is an incredible athlete...He is one of the Genius of equine world...Jean Luc Cornille is the rider and trainer.
@berriewoodsdabest he is doing fine now,,,,does not rear when riding now..although Chazot is known to 'express" himself in hand at times with pent up energy...being trained by a true master horseman as Jean Luc Cornille is makes all the difference....horse is very sweet kind but a professionals horse.
@MegaBentleyLover The rider is Jean Luc Cornille a world re known trainer and author his site is scienceofmotion com He lectures and gives clinics as well author of books and DVD's.
Thank you JLC and Chazot both very special..! I am keeping them both for life..:) The music is from a free site name is on end of video..as you cannot have my guys..you can buy a DVD The Making Of Chazot on our site...is amazing journey! (shameless plug) Chazot is doing amazing work and close to the Piaffe....stay tuned..:)
Actually you can see many people handling horses like this. Just go to any TB racetrack in the morning when horses are exercising. This is a daily occurrence. Almost all TB's will do this when they are racing fit.
@CravesGreys21 No he is not trained to rear....not a good thing for a horse to do this. He no longer rears with us on him..worked with his intelligence, patience no gimmicks...
Jean Luc is an amazing rider and educator. I have hosted clinics with him twice now, and plan to continue for as long as Jean Luc will travel. Respect ! That is a big horse with a big attitude. He is clearly very smart . The man is an amazing rider and handles him so well.
I keep this video on hand just in case I may have had a 'bad' ride or I'm not feeling as confident as I'd like. ....and after watching it I laugh at myself for getting hung up on little things. YOU HAVE MY RESPECT. YOU ARE REALLY A REAL HORSE TRAINER.... GREAT JOB! GOOD HORSEMANSHIP AND A VERY BEAUTIFUL HORSE.

Beautiful horse, amazing horsemanship.
That horse is beautiful !!!!!!!!!!
I admire you so much Sir Jean. XXXXXXX from Australia
Cudos to the trainer, he handled it all so calmly and never left the horse's side. You don't find many people that can do that
This is a great example for all of us. It is amazing how calm you stay during his 'outbursts', impressive.
Your a wonderful trainer, most people would be terrified to even go near that hose much less train it. Many horses with high spirits like this one are simply sold to slaughter because owners don't know how to deal with such a high strung equine. You though are the perfect example of what a horseman should be. I applaud you.
I admire you persistence and determination to help Chazot.
Real horsemanship, a rare thing today.
My true respect for this trainers courage and competence - a most valueable video! But it would be very interesting to learn how well the reeducation of the horse went and in what state the horse is now. Could we get an update? Thanks for sharing this with us!
Music by Kevin MacLeod, at least one part of it is Truth of the Legend. And the horsemanship here is simply stunning. Much, much respect.
When Margit Otto Crepin purchased Corlandus, all top dressage riders knew about Corlandus' outstanding potential. this is very cool you do this without worry i think you are very confident in training
I completely agree with this comment. I was wondering about the horse's motivation as I was watching it. Not once did strike out at the handler, or attempt to hurt him in any way, and at times was walking quite relaxed with ears forward. Interesting!

I love the surrounings you're training in, nyuuu... so pretty. Of course Chazot is too ^^ But I just noticed the foresty background and stuff.
Amazing!! If my horse would have done that I am shameful to say I wouldn't have been so calm. She would be in a massive amount of trouble. Haha!! How is this horse doing now? and wow, seeing this really reminds me of why I love spending time around horses everyone else thinks are just trouble...
This is really inspirational, I have a horse who has a habit of rearing like him but sometimes i don't have the courage or patience to deal with him..
What happened to him to make him like this? he's a gorgeous dressage horse. Respect to you for working so well with him. he's beautiful.

How old was this horse when he came to Margit? just wondering if it was a young horse thing or a horse that was to spirited for most people thing.
@hypasha I will look it up thank you for the information, he looks kind but fearful. I hope to see him in FEI dressage one day.

What is his breed? He's gorgeous! And what's his size?
Hey, I was wondering, was this horse rearing from an abscess in this video? If so, is he OK now?
@Dandyizbeast Chazot is a gelding...he just has strong opinions..:) He has a gelding friend in stall and pasture to him...(he cannot be with other horses as he is running them etc....

Amazing.
Possibly a stupid question, but is he trained to rear? Or is this just him......
@charlieboy1091 His rearing was a protective response and habit from racetrack...we worked with his intelligence and he does not rear now and is an incredible athlete...He is one of the Genius of equine world...Jean Luc Cornille is the rider and trainer.
