I have a few in my jumbo mix that has black patches on their backs. Would that be the 2% panda style or possibly a high white white-wing? Either way their beautiful.
Thank you for this great channel. I have binge watching this for the last 3 days. I am trying to cut through the red tape to be able ro have Couternix Quails where I live. And yes, I live in a very urban area in California, so where everywhere wlse doesn't have regulations dor quails, we do. But here is my question. I am doing this for self sufficiency for my family. We want them both for eggs and for meat. Which would suggest? That i keep like 12 females and 3 males for a year or two and then their babies use them for eggs for a few weeks and then when they get to 8 weeks process them, or let them as the babies get old enough, trade out an older quail, one for one. I kind of tend to think the 1st way would be better because you might end up with brothers and sisters and possibly down the line mating. But the positive side of doing it the 2nd way is that your egg producrion would atay steady. Thank you!
Oh thank you very much for this info. It looks like I have 4 out of 7 white jumbo 3 week old chicks. My question is… after the hens have laid for two years in two months do you eat them? Or are they not very good to eat because they have been laying all that time?
Initially, I was going to go with Coturnix. Then I learned about the jumbo, which I believe is a variant of Coturnix. You mentioned that the jumbo white look the cleanest or the best after butchering. Are you going to make a video showing us exactly what you mean? Or is there one? Which has the best flavor, or are the meat products similar?
@@MyshireFarmhello, I read somewhere on RUclips (a quail tasting) in the comments that bobwhite are white meat and coturnix are dark meat. Can you confirm this? And I’m looking forward to a compare and contrast butcher video.
Is there a STANDARD white coturnex? I got 5 brown standard from a man then I replaced 3 as they all had much poop in their feet and have alot of feather lost. Out of the 3 hens he gave me 1 looks normal like other brown hens, one has like lighter brown color, very close to a male quail and the front feather is mixed as well when feather sexing, and the last one is white. But I'm not sure if there's a STANDARD white because I searched and all I can find everywhere is Jumbo White, not Standard
Thank you for the great video. Hatching for meat. Does it matter how you combine the Jumbo white? For example, putting the 97% to get eggs for meat. or it does not matter? What would you recommend?
When you say they are the cleanest to butcher, what do you mean by that exactly compared to wild jumbos? Do you just mean that all of Jimbo's are clean to butcher or is white the nicest?
Yes you can, you can mix any color with any color of the Coturnix. Mixing them, you'll get Pharaoh and White, you may even get lucky and get a Tuxedo or a White Wing out of it.
I've read that the jumbo white are more aggressive. That's been my experience with them. They pecked each other bloody and bald. And this was the females! No males around. I also heard that the brown quail aren't like that. Is this true?
My whites, in a white only cage, are very docile, in a mixed cage, I cannot say the same. They get pecked on by the other colors and have to be more aggressive to survived in a mixed cage. I think it's the black spot on them that causes the others to peck at it, thinking it may be food they can eat.
We are working on them. Size of eggs, weight and adding to our numbers. They will be back on when we are happy with them. I am sorry for the inconvenience
My Jumbo Whites are the calmest group I have. While most will move away from your hand reaching into the cage, that's it, they move away not completely flaking out. Many will sit and let me pet them without reacting at all.
My whites act just like others, I find the Roos are a bit calmer thou… they have a nice strut and the white body makes them look bigger…my stud Roo was 211 grams at 4 weeks old and 354 at 8 weeks old …he’s a monster Roo.
Hello Lucy thank you for the video you work hard all day long 7 days a week
Thanks for watching
Thank you for sharing this information 👍. You are very informative and I appreciate it 👍
Glad it was helpful!

That’s correct
Love the whites, but love the wilds and white wings more. ;-)
Agreed
I like them, the white is included with the jumbo mix right? I can't wait to get started.
Yes absolutely
Been looking at getting jumbos to raise for meat, and some standard celedon for eggs
That’s great. Good luck.

The second way for sure
I’ve noticed that my jumbo whites are a lot less aggressive and calm compared to my jumbo browns.
Interesting. We find them about the same here

We do, but you would have many options, sell them to a falconer or reptile owner to feed their animals, dog food but we usually butcher them for us.
I would like to seea visual or side by side of Jumbo eggs in comparison to other breeds for size. Do you have a video that shows that?
We do. I think it is under this playlist…. If you search jumbo vs standard by Myshire Farm that video will show up

They all taste the same and I am planning on doing a video showing the difference once butchered

@@itsjohnirait’s the other way around, Japanese (c. coturnix) are lighter meat. Game species like bobwhite are darker.

Yes they are called English whites

It does not matter
@@MyshireFarm Will you have Jumbo White quail soon?
Does any of your quail produce a more nutritious egg than another breed of quail? Thanks
All the same
At what temperature we should hatch them
99.5
When you say they are the cleanest to butcher, what do you mean by that exactly compared to wild jumbos? Do you just mean that all of Jimbo's are clean to butcher or is white the nicest?
Because of the white feathers, if a feather is left behind in the processing, it is not as visually displeasing as a dark brown feather.
You don’t see the feathers on the whites so they just look cleaner
My quails are 12 weeks old and not laying. How do I get them to lay?
They need 16-18 hours of light a day
Can you breed jumbo white to Pharoah or wild jumbos
Yes you can, you can mix any color with any color of the Coturnix. Mixing them, you'll get Pharaoh and White, you may even get lucky and get a Tuxedo or a White Wing out of it.
Yes you would get wilds, whites and eventually tuxedos
Does jambo quail breed naturally?
I don’t know what that means. But yes the breed if they are together

No I would not say so. Our whites are pretty calm and chill. The larger they are the lazier they are hahahaha
I am wondering why you are not selling them anymore? Will they be coming back?
We are working on them. Size of eggs, weight and adding to our numbers. They will be back on when we are happy with them. I am sorry for the inconvenience
Beautiful! Can't wait to get an order for live birds! Gotta get a job first 😂🤣
Quail is a job.
@@SeraphimCherubim 😂. No kidding!
Quails are a job but i love it.
I hear ya hahaha
Are we going to get one on the cosmos
It is on the books to get done
Hi, I texted (just today) and sent an email about purchasing a jumbo white. My name is Robin.
I do believe I responded
Being White On White birds. Is there a higher possibility of blindness? If so, does this affect their quality of life?
No, it’s just a basic recessive gene, it’s a true color.
No white on white is fine. You should not have any health issues with the jumbo whites at all
What is their temperament like?

They are very calm but not all but most temperament is based off of environment
