Sweatshirt girl is actually so beautiful!
Yeah, she is 10/10
You trippin? She is below mid
Well it's all subjective. To me she is a 6/10.
She's 10 in US for sure.

Takashii letting us know he’s short in the most low key way
Why he uses lifts? pretty sure hes like 5'9 thats above average in japan
he can't be 5.9 if the girls in the videos are 5ft
@@shoqstar shes probably using heels the other girl is 5'7 and he has a good 2in on her
He's above avg for Japan.
So what if he's short, isn't the whole point of the video that people care too much about this bs
I can feel the pink girl stare into my soul 😂
right? Never thought someone in a RUclips video would learn all my deepest secrets just by staring at me😂
freaking loved that girl🤣I think it's fair as a middle aged boring white guy, I want that pink no bs japanese girl as my spirit animal.
Haha it made me feel uncomfortable! 🤣

Stop discrimination against people with a mental or a psychological disability
I think the underlying issue with the 1-10 scale is that some people feeling that they're a 5 is perfectly fine as it's an average that's neither good nor bad and is also statistically realistic. Whereas other people use a 9 or 10 as representative of the self-acceptance and loving themselves as a removal of negativity or the need to improve to mean essentially the same thing (essentially just a mindset of body acceptance vs. body positivity).
Some people use a 7 to show a significant distance away from an unrealized ideal of a 10 that's always focused in that gap in a way that's self discouraging, whereas others may be focusing on self improvement with health or habits and use that gap as a positive motivator.
So long as you focus on nurturing a healthy and positive mindset about yourself, the number doesnt matter. There's always someone you're a 10/10 to, but that can be especially hard to remember in environments of high conformity.
The underlying issue with the 1-10 scale is the 1-10 scale. That goes back to the social constructs you pointed out about conformity and symbolic interactionismn and I'd add stigma.
Well said.
“how was it? That was interesting “ in a monotone voice always gets me 😂😂

I actually thought the same thing since I was watching the video without actually looking.
the girl at 7:11 is probably the most genuine humble person i have seen on the internet so easily a 10/10
I agree, she is beautiful! and that "Ms blue" lived in America before was already apparent before she said a single word..
I agree
yeah off camera but when you see her on hellotalk a dating app or at a bar, she will only fancy you if you are a blonde blue eyed thin pretty boy foreigner or that ryousuke yamada japanese boy.
@migerusan8488 if you can have anyone you want, why settle for less?
0:44 is super pretty and humble
Wife material right there. Humble, sweet, smiley.
I wonder how tall is takashii, cuz the girl considers herself short
@@haoweiguo8411I think the girl is standing on something. Sora said Takashii is pretty tall
Definitely the best looking one out of all the girls here, closest one to 10 for sure.
Why do people love humility in the form of insecurity? Mostly when there's a culture of looking humble people lie and pretend they don't think they're attractive just to be liked, but deep down they still know they're hot so what's the point? And in the cases where they genuinely dislike the way they look, do you think that will really make them a better person? The most evil people i've met were the jealous insecure types. Not saying these girls are like that obviously... but still, it doesn't feel good to dislike yourself.
Sweatshirt girl is fascinating talking about her eyebrows and cheekbones. I was surprised that these were seen as problematic in Japan but desirable in the USA. She is naturally beautiful to this American guy.
Calm down pop
@@miskopisko8833relax zoomer.
But actually I think she is considered to be quite beautiful in Japan too. Women like this type of faces more. Guys like more feminine/soft looks.
日本人から見ても美人だよ
Pops I think you don't understand the reality of the situation in current america or even worse in Japan. The thing is literally 90% of both american boys and japanese boys will happily take her as she is...she's way too beautiful for most boys. But girls today with their phones up in their faces watching 10/10 perfect asian/white models move their booty and showing their faces all day long through tiktok/ig are brainwashed to believe they MUST get one of those guys and any guy that doesn't look like them ARE a problem because to get any kind of attention from those top 5 percent guys who get BOMBARDED with messages, she must stand out. Of course she does get into relationships with the not-so-attractive but always always aiming for the top 5 percent.
If you have troubel believing this, open a dating app and put the pictures of those most popular tiktok pretty boys (not so famous bc girls will notice) and watch how you get THOUSANDS of matches literally begging for you to come over and do your business. Meanwhile you'll get brutally rejected and ignored and not even match if you are average or even above average.
I live in Brazil. It's so interesting to see how our beauty standards are different, but also similar in the way that makes most people have a harsh view of themselves. Excellent video, as always, Takashi!
yeap Im Brazilian too and I think 2 things: ugly entitled Usarians and that one... " eu sou bonita pra caramba, peito durinho..." 😂😂😂😂😂
Its especially sad to see how normal it is for Japanese people to hate their natural eyelids, and view double lids as more beautiful. Its definitely influenced by western media, and is like a sort of internal racism.
The girl with glasses, the 170cm tall, is very adorable.
It's really important to have these kinds of candid conversations. I hope we can all strive to be a bit less critical of ourselves and those around us.
Overweight??? She has to be joking. Crazy how different the beauty standards are.
Go to the USA, then you know what overweight means 😅
@@WS-tx7qy and you know what sometimes they look like the girl form bunny garden turn out to have very thicc high and ass you need to be chubby and these women are beautiful suck the world still believes in narrow beauty standard set by sexist misogynist countries ago back when people though women couldn't read because it'll fired their brain and thought the earth was flat and think light strike was an angry god

Many young Japanese women have low muscle mass and often have a high BMI.
And Japanese women have a basically slender frame, which makes them look thin when they are dressed, but their bodies are often Lazy when they are undressed.
So it is understandable why they want to lose fat
overweight and obesity are technically different..she already ready gave her reason and proved it with her chin.she was just being realistic about it.also its not as simple as you people think that overweight = fat

to be completely fair, Japan has a major culture of being gracious and underplaying your own feats because modesty is valued. This must be considered when you see some of these answers. It looks like some of the most beautiful women, who know they're cute (like that early one who said she was a 6) are being modest intentionally. You can tell by the way she moves that she knows she's cute.
Yup If someone tells you that your Japanese is good, do NOT say "Arigato" - The proper response is "Iie, heta desu, hazukashii"
Have a great day everyone
Passed by while you were setting up the shot for the sponsor segment the other week, and was wondering what video that was going to be in. Happy to have found it!

Takashi literally doesn’t have a bad video; they never fail to entertain me.
All these women were beautiful. It was also wonderful to hear themselves feel confident to express their own personal views of themselves. It takes a lot of courage to express oneself on camera to an audience looking at what they pointed out they seem could be « better ».
I can’t wait to see the male version of this segment and compare the two through these Japanese citizens culture beauty values.
The young lady expressing that Americans are to confident is an understatement!! 😂
✨🤓🖤✨
I love normal Japanese eyes without double lids; it is so beautiful.
The fact they pay money to get rid of it is tragic.
The Japanese have the most double eyelids of any other East Asian nation.
What do you mean by Japanese eyes? 😂 Japanese are divided to Yaoyi and Jomon, Yaoyi are monolid while Jomon are double eyelid. Usually, Monolid can only look attractive when it’s enlarge. I’m monolid and I find double eyelid more attractive.

personally, I appreciate their humility and the world needs much more of it.
Different culture
Humility is beautiful but you’re confused, self hatred and self doubt is not the same. You can love and accept yourself and have confidence that you are a valuable wonderful person and still have humility. They have severe mental health issues there, this over criticism of appearance is toxic. Not sure what you find good about that.
I think a good lesson from this video is to avoid consuming social media content. Use your valuable time for more purposeful and joyful activities.

They are all so beautiful
Hey! That lady with the blue sweater and the nice eyebrows, she was on a reality show called Love Transit! It was pretty entertaining. Enjoyed it.
I am a Japanese but if you think this is a problem about self-esteem its really not like that.
It's the difference of the ways of thinking between Japanese and foreigners.
We have the self-critical thinking so that means we try our best to be perfect
not like ''be yourself" thinking you have.
It's possible to be both at the same time.
Perfection is an inner quality, slowly cultivated. Physical appearance alone, outside of cleanliness, can be seen as shallow. It is the inner life that is harder to perfect and that is what makes one beautiful.
Not if it leads to insecurity and girls getting plastic surgery straight out of high school. It contributes to mental health problems down the line, you do not need to criticize your physical feature so harshly as it isn't something you can really control
@@blasianking4827I think you are talking about South Korea.

This is a hugely important video. This topic of beauty standards is not talked about enough - - we're all our own worst critic, important to remember that. So many of these women are SO beautiful, not even kidding
Thank you for this video, it was really interesting to know how these women think of themselves, I hope none of them have surgery as they are all really beautiful. Beauty standards everywhere can be so cruel, we just need to figure out how to be happy in our own skin 😊
The humility automatically puts them at 7s by default in my eyes then we go from there whether it goes higher.

I find this so interesting especially considering the concept of Wabi-Sabi in traditional Japanese aesthetics.
Girl in blue cardigan so energetic and well, she like shining like a star (also she hold contact with camera, so she probably influencer on popular media). And well, smiling make people breutifull (and every woman or girl in the clip are beautifull in their unique matter, like this girl which tells that she overweight - shape of her face are cute, cuteness of no-ideal-but-cute (and i write this as artist, well still beginer artist). And this really cool to see that japanese girls has so confidence in themselfes. Domo Arigatou for video!
Many Western viewers seem surprised, but I think there are probably some cultural differences between Japan and the West. Basically, Japanese people openly talk about their body shape and face, even among friends and family and we talk about it as if it were casual conversation. On the other hand, I've heard that in the West, especially in America, it's taboo to talk about body shape. Probably Westerners don't talk openly about body shape and face unless they are really worried about it. So I think these opinions about the face and body of Japanese people are very different from those of Westerners in terms of seriousness. And the reason why they give them low scores is simply because we are humble.
As a Spanish person, I can asure you that you are talking about USA, not all Western countries. In my country, it's not uncommon to talk about physical appearence. Women in Spain are very critical with their bodies too, and most of them want to loose weight or to get in shape. The difference is that women in Japan seem to be way more humble.
@@raistlin906

They are all beautiful! I'm an older woman, and now I see how silly I was for being so hard on myself when I was younger. Enjoy every age!
i adore the blue sweater girl!
I don't know what's worse, too high or too low!😂
Too low is bad for their own.
Too high makes for an arrogant person (generally bad for others and themselves).
Too low > too high imo
Too high for sure. Being a little insecure creates less problems interpersonally than being a little overconfident.

Very interested in the next set of interviews concerning this topic. I'm not particularly interested in beauty standards in general but I do find it interesting how people in different cultures perceive themselves. So I would like to see what Japanese men think of themselves as well!
So many pretty people in this vid looking down on themselves. The blonde lady that rated herself 10 has it right. She loves herself and her appearance without being arrogant about it 👍
Everyone practice self-love and care ❤️
Self-care is great, but calling yourself a 10 is arrogant by definition.

Self-love doesn’t mean one should rate themselves as a 10 though. It’s so shallow …

Very interesting video, as always! Sad to hear, though, about so many of the interviewees wanting eyelid surgery (or knowing other others who have had it). Social media has really skewed what so much of the world considers attractive. Really keen to see the video where you interview men on the same topic.
All of them are 10/10. Your attitude, energy, personality, the things you say, the way you speak, the way you present yourself: those are the things that make you beautiful - or ugly.
BS
But in Japanese people's eyes, us foreigners are lesser than them (pure-blood Japanese)
It’s so important for people to have a healthy level of appreciation and satisfaction with themselves.
I just wish these ladies truly knew how beautiful they actually are. ❤As someone who is 40+ I can tell you looking back the things I criticized are now the things I value!

No one should be ashamed of anything they have no control over. You can control your weight to a certain degree but you can't change the cheekbones you were born with(without surgery anyway) so why worry about it! You only have one body, one life so do what you can to stay healthy and comfortable in your own skin while enjoying life.
