I loved that grill when I got my 2013 GMC Acadia Denali. I used to drive Hondas and Acuras. I’m now a GMC gal. I’ve wanted a Denali since 2016, I test drove one but couldn’t justify the price. 40th gift to myself is a Denali Ultimate. 🖤
Ford needs to get on the stick and bring the Excursion back with the new 10spd trans and option the 7.3L gas and 6.7L diesel. I bet they'd sell like crazy.
One thing that I always look at when looking for a new vehicle is what the spare wheel is, for me if it's not a full size wheel/tire it's unlikely I'm going to buy it. I feel it's something worth looking at since most temporary tires don't have the same load rating as the normal tires, and it's not recommended to carry/tow heavy weight with compromised run-flats or tires with puncture sealant. Another thing that I like to see is sunshades for the rear side windows, privacy glass alone doesn't protect the rear occupants from the sun. I recently purchased a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander and specifically ordered it with both a full size spare wheel, it's a 2 row model, and the built in sunshades in the rear doors. It's also fitted with electric trailer brake controller, Redarc Tow-Pro, with the control knob in a similar position to that on the Yukon. One thing the Outlander has that I wish other cars had are the small pockets across the top of the front seats, ideal for putting phones and similar while still having proper seat back pockets lower down like normal.
Did you mean to write pull a small house or haul 8 people? Pretty sure it won’t do both at the same time unless it’s a dollhouse. What was the rated tow capacity on it?
They are one of the best looking full size SUVs. We had a 2004 GMC Yukon XL Denali with the 6.0 liter engine. It was a great SUV while we owned it. I would opt for the 3.0 Duramax rather than the 6.2 gas. Can't beat a full size SUV that gets 30mpg on the highway and 25mpg in the city. Enjoy the ride for the next week.
@@carholic-sz3qv those vans can't in turn pull your horse trailer. This can. If you are just doing people things vans are great for sure, but for utility and farm life, having a truck and an SUV is optimal.
@@rodneyscott47 lol….. a Mercedes v6 diesel and even a vw 4cylinder diesel vans can definitely abs have been towing trailers, horses…… vans are simply much more fuel efficient.
What’s crazy is my 2021 expedition retract and raise 3rd and 2nd row seats. I would have kept it if it was the expedition max but sold it and now have a 2022 Denali xl.
This model does not have the sliding center console with the hidden compartment, but another video showed how when the console was in the back position the cup holder on the console were closer to the 2nd row passengers, I thought that was really cool. Your provided a great review, they are really nice. I prefer the GMC over the Chevrolet. The GMC really stands out.
Good review JD. You forgot the AC outlet in the back seat beneath those USBs’. Viewed your tutorial with Mrs. BTRV on the Toro zero turn. “You go Girl.” Again congrats on the property.
These trucks have a feature where you can just wave your foot under the rear bumper to open/close the rear hatch, probably why the button isn't placed lower.
I will date myself but we opted for the 2020 Yukon xl Denali because the 2021 and newer is not available with a factory DVD player. …and yes I still have a landline phone! Lol.
I have a 2001 suburban lt model and I love it will buy another one in the future when this one is no longer road worthy I’ve heard they are having problems with the rear ends on these vehicles breaking at 4,000 miles I’ve heard
If I understand it correctly, the second row displays can mirror the gps display on the front console. If you still have the Denali, I’d be interested in seeing what that looked like.
Just a beautiful vehicle that commands attention. Just one thing. With 7 passengers, luggage, and a full tank will put you very close to the 1400 pounds. So your towing tongue or ball weight will drop. Add the weight of the 4x4 that also drops towing capacity. Always look up your exact vehicle configuration and your "wet weight " to know if you have room to breathe or if you're over. Tons of apps will help with this. Still a wonderful suv with lots of power, design, and comfort.
Great review! Packed with pertinent info and towing details, but If you are serious about pulling a travel trailer and this is your budget, wait a few years and get the Denali ultimate 2500 HD with super cruise. The Yukon xl payload of 1450#s is not enough once you put 1000#+ tongue weight. …Coming from a Yukon xl owner with a 25’ travel trailer and a family of 5. Keep up the great content!
If you really want one of these now you cannot be too choosy. We shopped across 5 states for ours. GMC w the top of the line Denali pkg and Duramax diesel are stickering around 85k. At the current time you should not expect too much of a discount at all. A few dealers (thankfully not many) are charging (and getting) more than MSRP. You will be lucky if the dealer with one in stock discounts it any more than 3-4%. Most dealerships have none on their lots and the ordering backlog is “several months”. Some dealerships may offer a great deal on an order but you should not do it. Dealers have been losing their allocations so they cannot deliver the ordered vehicle on time - but they have your money. Find a good dealer with one in stock and pay close to MSRP for it - or just wait a few years for things to (hopefully) improve
and if they had gone with the turn knob, they might have had space for the trailer-brake controller on the right side instead of hidden behind the wheel on the left side...
Bring back the 2500 yukon xl we need more payload in these beast for towing travel trailers cargo and your family. You will easily go over the crappy payload on this SUV with all these things loaded up
A 2500 is probably not going to happen unless the body and interior are totally redesigned at the rear to accommodate the solid axle that would be required. The load floor would have to be raised and rear seat would be significantly more uncomfortable for larger passengers. Plus they would have to be built on a different assembly line than the 1500. The demand for a 2500 likely wouldn’t justify the cost to do all that.
Grand Waggoner is 10,000 expedition is 9300/9000 for the max Durango is 8700 with the 5.7 7900 is low especially when a 2005 Yukon Denali is rated for 8800
It looks like they did a great job Overall,,While I like the look of the grill the GMC letters are too far up on the grille , and the bumper is too far down , It looks like it offers little to no protection from a simple deer hit will take out your entire front end and radiator .My only other issue is the shifter ,I’m sorry it looks like it’s right out of of a school bus.The Push pull push thing is ridiculous,I don’t understand why we have to reinvent the wheel a simple shifter on the column or the console has worked forever, Even though I don’t like the ram rotary dial shifter it is worlds better than this thing And it’s lower on the dashboard you can use it with your armrested or on the console. The interior overall is a huge improvement over what they have been trying to sell the last version of it was so far behind on Lincoln navigator it was laughable this revision is a lot better I really like it a lot.
Beautiful SUV, but my wife’s 2011 Ford Expedition Limited numbers are better than that Denali. Not that I tow with it, but it has over 1440 in cargo capacity and over 9000 lbs in conventional towing. I just wish Ford still made the Excursion. Now that is the king of SUVs!
My wife wants one. I told her we would need to drive the 6.2 and the diesel to see how they compare. If you get the chance to drive a diesel version I would love to hear your opinion on the two. One has more power and one has better fuel economy.
I have a 2016 Tahoe LTZ that I need to trade for business tax reasons, wanted to go back to another Escalade or try a Denali. But until GM gets the valve issue straightened out, I am not buying one. Too many stories about GM trucks and SUV's with the 5.3 and 6.2 engines having problems and having to rebuild/replace the heads, many in less than 2,000 miles. Yes, warranty covers it but who wants a new $80k - $100k SUV with partially rebuilt engine? In the class-action lawsuit against GM, it appears that GM has know about the valve problem for some time and neglected to address the issue, which makes me question buying another GM at all.
Exactly. Pulled over 10k lbs multiple times with my 2001 Excursion Limited 7.3l Powerstroke. Never any issues. I definitely wouldnt want to pull that much on the interstate or regularly with it, but no doubt for max tow the Excursion is still the king.
@@TheBamidd if you’re talking actual max tow rating as the measure of the king, the new Grand Wagoneer matches the Excursion at 10k lbs so it would have to share that crown.
The duramax fuel economy is quite phenomenal for a vehicle that size. The 2021 model has a very poor reliability score on consumer reports and they don’t recommend it. Hopefully they’ve made the necessary improvements to increase reliability. I certainly wouldn’t buy one!
The Denali brand is awesome something I’ve been working towards because of the early ones from my childhood.
