RIP the two members of The Easybeats George Young (November 6, 1946 - October 22, 2017), aged 70 Stevie Wright (December 20, 1947 - December 27, 2015), aged 68 You both will be remembered as legends.
Could have been a good pop song but became and extraordinary pop song thanks to the lead and rhythm guitarists who created an incredible guitar tapestry! WOW!!!
A pivotal moment in Rock music history, this record introduced Australian Rock to the rest of the world. Band member George Young also wrote another worldwide hit from Down Under, "Love Is In The Air" by John Paul Young, and unleashed the fury called AC/DC. Good on you, mates.
My friend George Crotty, a singer and record collector, was a personal friend of the Easy Beats and one of their greatest fans. One of the last things he said was how much he revered them and he showed me his folder that he said he was compiling for a book about them. Although he collected many records, I think they were always his favourites.
Monday mornin' feels so bad Ev'rybody seems to nag me Comin' Tuesday I feel better Even my old man looks good Wed'sday just don't go Thursday goes too slow I've got Friday on my mind Gonna have fun in the city Be with my girl, she's so pretty She looks fine tonight She is out of sight to me Tonight I'll spend my bread, tonight I'll lose my head, tonight I've got to get tonight Monday I'll have Friday on my mind Do the five day grind once more I know of nothin' else that bugs me More than workin' for the rich man Hey! I'll change that scene one day Today I might be mad, tomorrow I'll be glad 'Cause I'll have Friday on my mind Gonna have fun in the city Be with my girl, she's so pretty She looks fine tonight. She is out of sight to me Tonight I'll spend my bread, tonight I'll lose my head, tonight I've got to get tonight Monday I'll have Friday on my mind
Trivia: around the time Friday on my Mind was starting to become an international hit, tge Easybeats' manager Mike Vaughn and longtime Aussie voiceover John Blackman (you've probably heard of him) worked together at a customs agent.
There are more Easybeat recordings I like, but in my opinion this was their best one. It has a fantastic drive. It still doesn't sound dated. I have mixed feelings about David Bowie's cover (on his album Pinups). The 1970's arrangement is far superior, and of course Bowie has a more charismatic voice than Stevie Wright, but, but, for me it will forever be an Easybeats song.
Modern junk sucks. 60s and 70s music reigns supreme. Such a shame so many of the stars from back then are either retired or dead. At least we still have 2 Beatles and Mick Jagger. I’m only 17, and I don’t know many people my age who share the same opinion. There should be more out there.
Silly comparison. This was 1966, AC DC started much later in 1973 George Young is Angus & Malcom’s older brother, he and Harry Vanda both ex-members of the Easybeats produced the early works of AC DC ….
Ac/dc weren’t as versatile as the Easybeats The Easies developed ac/dc who were a bloody good rock outfit as time tends to do the Easybeats are mostly lost on future generations

Thank u. G'day Phil
This song is so outstanding on many levels. Great chord structure. Terrific vocals. Scorching guitar work. All around home run!
This song has absolutely -no- every right to be this good, what a wonderful piece of music.
Has every right too! . Steve wouldn't be happy at the first bit of your comment
They simply don't write songs this well anymore. It's catchy from beginning to end
Even Canada has Friday on it's mind
And what a character Steve was❤
They don’t right them like this anymore, which is a crying shame.

Died at 68 and 70? Ain’t that a bit too young these days?
Oh yes, I remember I bought this record in 1967 before I went into the US Amy! What a trip!
Thank you for your service.
@@ibberman You got it!
@@ibberman Thanks! 67' was a great year for me!
This greatness just doesn't age.
The Aussies that broke the ice. An iconic piece of history here.

This song was so ahead of it's time.
damn so glad I was reintroduced to this song so many times, never going to lose it again
Good fun times back on the day.
Brilliantly put, no more working for the rich man, well done Stevie, you put into words which not many did
The guitar "small cacophony" shortly after beginning is simply adorable. Never tired to hear it.
Maybe the greatest one hit wonder of all time.great guitar riff.1966.the greatest year for music period in the greatest decade for music period.

Is there some records you could share with us?
He had great taste
One of my kid friends had the 45 back in the sixties and I used to wear, it, OUT. Still a great tune.
So beatiful song.
Friday, 26 July 2024 - I found out George Young was a Band Member of this classic Tune... Respect

uhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu what a song
First 45 I bought when I was 12 years old
Outstanding !
Timeless.
What cool graphics man! 🎱
This used to be my little get pumped up song
Ground breaking what melody and tone.
Great Aussie hit
Listen to that fast guitar in the beginning. That's Angus Young's brother.
No its not ..Harry Vanda played the Riff at the start and which continues through the song.. George Young played the rhythm in the Chorus
J'ai toujours ce 45t ;-)
60 years gone in the blink of an eye
Couldn't agree more folks.
Thanks for posting this!!!!
Can’t believe this was basically how AC/DC started
Wasn't Angus Young's older brother in the Easybeats?
This is not AC/DC.
@@draconis2364 No it's not. But things start somewhere somehow...
@@jamesgreenldn Yes, George Young.
George Young and Harry Vanda produced AC/DC from 1974 to 1978 and the Blow Up Your Video album.
Today is Friday

Now that's a right hand
A story everyone has experienced!
Would rather have seen the visuals on this. Audio is good, though. Luv this old song!
They perform this elsewhere on You Tube!
This song will last forever
Awesome!
Sally the top Motown dancer . Why I say that because it comes natural to you ,❤❤
Bowie did a good version on Pin Ups as well. Great underrated album, with TTWD covering some of his favourite songs from 1964-67.
and peter frampton
I have this on original vinyl in NM condition. 😁
An amazing song.
I couldn't stop playing the record!

Cool
When I first heard this song, I could not stand the guitar intro. But the refrain sounded better and the song eventually grew on me.
I can't believe sometimes that this is Angus. And malcolm young's older brother and stevie young's uncle I just can't believe it

Great song. 1973 David Bowie made his own cover, that means this must be good.

Listen to the Arctic Monkeys- Leave Before The Lights Come On and tell me there aren’t similarities between the two.

A good song but not the greatest as voted recently.
We will not subscribe to this channel because of the crap kamala ad in the beginning.
Oh no! Anyways
Sounds like the Arabs are singing this
God I hope you’re not serious you are insulting my heroes here
THIS IS NOT THE OFFICIAL VIEDEO !!! FALSE ADVERTISING !!!
Ac/dc is better
Weird thing to comment, but I’d like to remind you that AC/DC wouldn’t be possible without this band
Silly comparison. This was 1966, AC DC started much later in 1973 George Young is Angus & Malcom’s older brother, he and Harry Vanda both ex-members of the Easybeats produced the early works of AC DC ….
